Abstract

This study aims to find out what are the barriers to intercultural communication in the Nias Tribe Society (Study in Penyengat Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency). This study used a qualitative method by conducting interviews and observations of six research subject informants with different cultural backgrounds. This study uses the theory of accommodation which explains how the two different cultures can adjust to one another starting from behavior when interacting with one another and can reduce conflict or disagreement when talking to one another. The results of this study explain what are the obstacles to intercultural communication between the Nias people and the people of Penyengat Village, namely the barriers (language, perception, experience, nonverbal, culture and prejudice) from the languages of the two cultures, both of them do not understand Indonesian. and with wrong mention/delivery or body language, negative Prejudice Barriers arise. and differences of opinion in different tribes can cause communication barriers, adjusting to social life in a new environment. fear that results in prejudice against different cultures, especially the people of Penyengat Village have a fear of the Nias Tribe Causing Problems in Penyengat Village.

Abstract

Japan is known as a developed country that has advanced technology, and is a civilized country, so it is not uncommon for Indonesian people to want to become Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) in Japan because of the large amount of royalty they are given. However, in this way, it is necessary to make adjustments made by TKI in communicating in Japan or scientifically it is usually called intercultural communication. This study aims to determine the competence of intercultural communication carried out by TKI in Japan in dealing with culture shock. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research type, data analysis techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction and drawing conclusions. This research was conducted through interviews with Indonesian migrant workers in Japan. The results showed that Indonesian migrant workers were very interested in working in Japan because they were paid high wages. Japan is known as a country that has good manners, culture shock that occurs, namely difficulties in language and seasons. With so TKI continue to try to adapt. In addition, Indonesian TKI also take a deep self-approach to their surroundings and try to join the new environment.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how communication ethics critiques in the public space of social media Twitter. This study uses a qualitative approach because in this study it describes the phenomena studied in the form of descriptions that show how communication ethics criticizes the public space of Twitter's social media. The subject in this study is social media twitter. The object of this study is the ethics of communication to criticize in the public space of Twitter's social media. This study uses secondary data. The results of this study indicate that the ethics of communication in conveying criticism on Twitter social media must pay attention to, among others: using good language, avoiding the spread of criticism that contains racism, pornography and acts of violence and propaganda, re-checking the correctness of information, respecting the work of others when conveying criticism either in the form of photos, writings or videos belonging to other people, it must include the source of the information. Communication ethics has a legal basis, namely Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE).
