Abstract

In the Kampung Delima Health Center area, the incidence of diarrhea is quite high, with one toddler dying due to recurring diarrhea in a village within the health center's working area. Initial interviews with the diarrhea program officer revealed that medical actions from early symptoms to hospital referral had been conducted. However, audit results showed that family factors, such as economic conditions and knowledge, contributed to the patient's worsening condition and eventual death. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about diarrhea and parental behavior in preventing diarrhea in toddlers in the Kampung Delima Health Center area. This research employs a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size consists of 50 participants, and data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. The results of the Chi-Square test indicate a significant relationship between knowledge of diarrhea and parental behavior in preventing diarrhea, with a p-value of 0.012 (p < 0.05). Based on the research findings, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. In conclusion, knowledge about diarrhea is significantly related to prevention behaviors. It is recommended that the Kampung Delima Health Center develop continuous educational programs, hold regular outreach activities, provide adequate facilities, and conduct routine monitoring and evaluation.

Abstract

Adolescents are highly susceptible to environmental influences, particularly those related to sexual behavior. Limited knowledge of reproductive health and strong peer pressure are among the major factors contributing to premarital sexual behavior. This study aimed to assess the relationship between knowledge and peer influence with premarital sexual behavior among adolescents at SMAN 10 Bengkulu City in 2025.Methods: A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. The sample consisted of 152 eleventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling from a population of 242 students. Data were collected using a structured and validated questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The findings revealed that 66.4% of respondents had good knowledge about the risks of premarital sex, and 80.9% reported low levels of peer influence. A total of 76.3% demonstrated positive sexual behavior by avoiding premarital sex. Statistical analysis showed a significant association between knowledge and premarital sexual behavior (p = 0.021), whereas peer influence was not significantly associated (p = 0.228). Conclusion: Adolescent knowledge about reproductive health significantly contributes to safer sexual behavior, whereas peer influence was not a determining factor in this study. It is recommended that schools enhance reproductive health education through regular counseling programs, and that parents engage in open discussions regarding sexual health. Further research is encouraged to examine other factors such as digital media exposure and parenting styles.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding refers to providing only breast milk and no other food or drink to infants from birth to 6 months of age, except for medications and vitamins (Humune et al., 2020). A 2022 survey by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Indonesia was 67.96%, compared to 69.7% in 2021. This data indicates a decline in exclusive breastfeeding coverage (WHO, 2023). Data from Bengkulu Province recorded exclusive breastfeeding coverage of 66.5% in Bengkulu City (Health Profile of Bengkulu Province). This study aims to determine the correlation between maternal knowledge and husband's support and the success of exclusive breastfeeding in the Working Area of Kandang Health Center of Bengkulu City. The method used was an analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 43 respondents using a total sampling technique. Univariate analysis results showed that almost half of the respondents (46.5%) had insufficient knowledge, the majority (58.1%) did not receive support from their husbands, and the majority (55.8%) did not provide exclusive breastfeeding. Bivariate analysis results showed a significant correlation between maternal knowledge and husband's support and the success of exclusive breastfeeding in the Working Area of Kandang Health Center of Bengkulu City (p-value = 0.01). It is recommended that the health center provide education on exclusive breastfeeding and the factors influencing its success.
