Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research to analyze cocoa farming income based on three post-harvest treatments, namely wet, non-fermented, and fermented cocoa beans in Way Lima District, Pesawaran Regency. The research method used a survey with a purposive sampling technique on 30 cocoa farmers. Data were analyzed using a financial income approach and business feasibility through the Benefit Cost (B/C) ratio. The results showed that post-harvest treatments made a significant difference to farmers' income and revenue. The highest income was obtained from fermented cocoa at IDR 57,500,000/hectare/year, followed by non-fermented at IDR 52,542,320.56/hectare/year, and wet cocoa beans at IDR 27,864,192.73/year. The income from fermented cocoa farming is Rp 44,602,761.09/year, higher than non-fermented cocoa at Rp 40,267,179.96/hectare/year and wet beans at Rp 18,435,394.09/hectare/year. The B/C ratio value shows that all post-harvest cocoa treatments are feasible to be cultivated (B/C > 1), with the highest value in fermented cocoa (3.35), then non-fermented cocoa (3.28), and wet cocoa beans (1.96). These results explain that fermented cocoa provides added value, improved quality, and higher income for cocoa farmers, although it requires additional costs and labor. Therefore, the application of fermentation needs to be continuously encouraged as a strategy to improve the welfare of cocoa farmers.

Abstract

Rice quality plays an important role in determining market value and consumer preference, particularly as organic rice gains popularity for its health and environmental benefits. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the physical quality of organic Mentik Susu rice and non-organic Ciherang rice according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 6128:2015). The research was conducted at the Quality Laboratory of Politeknik Negeri Lampung in August 2025. The analysis involved assessing head rice, broken rice, brewers, damaged grains, chalky grains, colored grains, foreign materials, and unhulled grains. The results showed that both rice varieties met the general requirements for quality rice, with no presence of pests, foreign odors, bran contamination, or harmful chemicals. Based on specific parameters, Mentik Susu met seven out of eight criteria for premium-grade quality, except for head rice, which fell slightly below the 85 percent minimum threshold and was classified as Medium I. In contrast, Ciherang met the Medium I category for several parameters but did not meet the standard for broken rice and brewers due to exceeding maximum limits. The findings indicate that Mentik Susu organic rice has better grain integrity and physical quality compared to Ciherang, although both require improved post-harvest handling-especially during drying and milling, to meet the premium standard. These results highlight the importance of optimizing cultivation and post-harvest management to enhance the competitiveness of local rice varieties in the premium market.

Abstract

Coffee has transformed into a part of lifestyle and social identity among university students. This study aims to analyze the determinants of students’ coffee-purchasing decisions by focusing on the influence of Brand Experience, Trend-Based Lifestyle, and Value for Money. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to examine the relationships among variables. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students in Lampung Province. The results indicate that collectively, the three variables significantly influence purchasing decisions. Among them, Brand Experience emerges as the most dominant driving factor, followed by Trend-Based Lifestyle. Meanwhile, Value for Money also contributes to purchasing power, although its effect is not as strong as the first two variables. The findings conclude that students’ decisions to purchase coffee are shaped by an integration of emotional like experiential appeal, social–trend pressure, and rational value considerations. The study’s implications highlight the importance of holistic marketing strategies for local coffee businesses, not only offering products but also creating strong brand experiences that align with young consumers’ lifestyles

Abstract

The increase in the quantity of Indonesian coconut exports was not accompanied by an increase in export value. This condition indicates an indication of low competitiveness. Competitiveness is a general concept used to refer to market commitment to international competition. The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend in export volume and export value obtained by Indonesia and analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian coconut exports in the international market. The methods used in this study were descriptive analysis and RCA. The results of the study indicate that Indonesia has a high growth trend in the quantity of coconut exports but is not accompanied by an increase in export value. This condition is caused by efforts used to win the competition, namely setting low prices due to the availability of abundant raw materials and relatively cheap labor costs. Based on the results of the RCA analysis, Indonesia ranks fifth as the country with the lowest RCA index after Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Low competitiveness is caused by weak implementation of minimum export price regulations and a lack of post-harvest technology development.
