Abstract

Continuous use of inorganic fertilizers results in decreased Cucumis melo plant production. The use of organic materials is an alternative to increase soil fertility.This experiment used a split plot design with cow manure and liquid organic fertilizer 'KSM' doses. The doses of cow manure include 10 tons/Ha, 20 tons/Ha, and 30 tons/Ha and the doses of liquid organic fertilizer ‘KSM’ include 150 ml/tank, 250 ml/tank, dan 350 ml/tank. The observed observation variables consist of physiological characters and harvest results. Physiological characters consist of Leaf Area Index, Net Assimilation Rate, and Plant Growth Rate. Harvest results variables consist of fruit weight per plant, fruit diameter per plant, and fruit length per plant. From the observation results, it is then analyzed using analysis of variance at the level of α = 5%. If in the analysis of variance there is a significant difference between the treatments tested, to find out the different treatments, BNT is carried out at the level of α = 5%. The treatment of 30 tons/Ha of cow manure and 350 ml/tangki of “KSM” POC was able to improve the physiological characteristics and harvest yields of Cucumis melo, namely in the variables of leaf area index, fruit weight per plant, and fruit diameter.

Abstract

The bud chip technique is an important method in sugarcane propagation, as it enables the production of a large number of seedlings while using less planting material. However, the small size of the bud cuttings results in limited nutrient reserves and endogenous hormones, which may constrain early seedling growth. Therefore, optimizing the composition of the growing media and applying plant growth regulators (PGRs) are necessary to enhance seedling growth and development.This study employed a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The objectives were to determine: (1) the appropriate composition of growing media for sugarcane seedlings using the bud chip technique; (2) the effects of different concentrations of plant growth regulators (PGRs) on seedling growth; and (3) the interaction between growing media composition and PGR concentration on the growth of sugarcane seedlings. The results indicated that: (1) the use of topsoil combined with cow manure, as well as topsoil combined with cow manure and rice husk compost, resulted in comparable seedling growth, both of which were superior to the control, as reflected in shoot height, leaf number, and shoot-to-root ratio. However, no significant differences were observed among treatments in terms of time to 50% sprouting and growth percentage; (2) different concentrations of PGRs did not significantly affect seedling growth across all observed variables; and (3) no interaction was found between growing media composition and PGR concentration on sugarcane seedling growth.

Abstract

Kelompok Wanita Tani Sekar Mewangi yang beranggotakan 18 orang dan terletak di Kecamatan Trimurjo Kabupaten Lampung Tengah, merupakan mitra yang memiliki permasalahan belum termanfaatkannya ampas jahe, padahal masih mengandung senyawa aktif yang berpotensi dikembangkan menjadi pangan olahan bernilai ekonomi. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kemandirian ekonomi melalui pengolahan ampas jahe menjadi produk pangan olahan berupa cookies, disertai penguatan branding dan pemasaran. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan secara partisipatif melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan praktik pengolahan menggunakan teknologi tepat guna berupa mesin penepung, pendampingan desain kemasan dan identitas merek, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil dan pembahasan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan kapasitas mitra, ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan kemampuan teknis pengolahan dari 54,5 persen menjadi 80 persen dan pemahaman branding serta kemasan dari 47,5 persen menjadi 82 persen. Selain itu, pemanfaatan limbah ampas jahe memberikan dampak ekonomi positif berupa peningkatan pendapatan mitra dari sekitar Rp300.000 menjadi Rp840.000–Rp900.000 per bulan. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa inovasi pengolahan limbah berbasis teknologi sederhana mampu mendukung pemberdayaan perempuan, efisiensi sumber daya, dan pengembangan usaha pangan berkelanjutan
