Abstract

This study discusses the sentence sanastadrijuhum in the Qur'an, which is known in society as istidraj. The purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning of istidraj according to the exegetes in a metaphorical and hermeneutic perspective. This study is qualitative and descriptive and uses a literature review method. The data collection technique used is the Mau?u'i method (thematic analysis), while data analysis is carried out using a hermeneutic approach. The main source of this study is the Qur'an al-Karim, with supporting references from various tafsir books that are relevant to the theme. The study results  show that, first, according to the exegetes, sanastadrijuhum is interpreted as a fall that occurs gradually and is almost imperceptible because it happens little by little. Allah SWT provides an opportunity to achieve a high position before being suddenly dropped. Second, metaphorically, istidraj has a satirical meaning, namely the postponement of punishment which is then given at once, both in the context of sin and goodness. Third, from a hermeneutic perspective, istidraj is a form of retribution that occurs through a certain process, either at a fast or slow tempo. This retribution is conveyed through various systematically arranged instruments, such as angels, humans, natural phenomena, or other events that appear natural.

Abstract

Seclusion from the crowd of men or being alone and remembering Allah, and his deeds are solely for God. 'Uzlah is also a means that can bridge to get closer to Allah. 'Uzlah is done with the provision of knowledge, because 'uzlah that is not accompanied by knowledge is a great damage. Because 'uzlah must be understood first, then it can be 'uzlah. 'Uzlah is to seclude oneself from the crowd of people or to be alone and remember Allah, and to do one's deeds solely for Allah. 'Uzlah is also a means that can bridge to get closer to Allah. The focus of the research in this study is: 1) What is the quality of the hadith about 'uzlah (self-exile) in the book Sunan Al-Nasa'i number 2569?, 2) How is the contextualization of the hadith of 'uzlah (self-exile) in the present?. The objectives of this study are: 1) To find out the quality of the hadith about 'uzlah (self-exile) in the book Sunan Al-Nasa'i number 2569. 2) To find out the contextualization of the hadith of 'uzlah (self-exile) in the present. This type of research is qualitative research, the data collection technique used is library research with ma'anil hadith. The conclusions obtained are: 1) The hadith of 'uzlah (self-exile) in the book of Sunan Al-Nasa'i number 2569 is included in the degree of hadith shahih. 2) The hadith of 'uzlah (self-exile) in the present day can help human beings in keeping up with the erosion of the current of globalization and other worldly traits that sometimes make people neglect the rights that should be given to Allah. However, the way to do 'uzlah does not have to be done in a cave, a lonely place that is very far from human civilization, but it can be done in a lonely place that is not too far from humans. And the period of time used for 'uzlah does not need to be days, months or even years, but it provides free time that is felt to be enough to worship or get closer to Allah. On the other hand, in addition to getting closer to Allah, humans who practice 'uzlah can still socialize, stay in touch with other human beings, and be responsible for their families.

Abstract

The phenomenon of non-voting (golput) or voter abstention in elections presents a significant challenge to democracy in Indonesia, including in the 2024 Mandailing Natal Regional Election. Low political participation can undermine the legitimacy of elected governments and hinder regional development processes. In the context of Islam, political participation can be viewed as part of the social responsibility taught in the Qur'an, which emphasizes the importance of deliberation, justice, and trustworthiness in societal life. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach with data collected through in-depth interviews with non-participating voters in the 2024 Mandailing Natal Regional Election and secondary data analysis from reports by the General Election Commission (KPU) and relevant literature. The Qur'anic perspective is examined using the thematic interpretation (maudhu’i) method, tracing verses related to political participation. The study finds that the main factors driving non-voting in Mandailing Natal include: (1) public distrust in candidates perceived as incapable of bringing change, (2) political apathy due to money politics, and (3) limited understanding of the importance of political participation in Islam. From the Qur'anic perspective, abstention can be considered contrary to the principle of shura (deliberation), as stated in QS. Ash-Shura (42:38), and the obligation to uphold justice in QS. An-Nisa (4:58).
