Abstract

Abstract: The rapid growth of settlement in the northern part of Bandung, as well as known KBU, increases slightly as an impact of the economy growth in the capital city of West Java. These influences strongly has some effects, such as the changing of land use and the decreasing of water absorption. For instance, the agricultural land area, the conservation area and the green area become settlement area and commercial area, therefore this area is a lack of absorption area due to the declining the green area. These evidences are following checked according to the WALHI’s data, around 70% of green area, such as protected forest, agricultural land, and plantation area leads to be settlement area, residential area and commercial area. Mostly Bandung Raya, included Cimahi, South Bandung, and Kabupaten Bandung get flood as the effect of these issues, especially when rain season. Based on the issues explanation and evidences, this research aims to have problem solving in the development of environmental friendly settlement and residential area that will lead to sustainable residences and conservation area. This research purpose is to conduct experimental-based and explorative-based the development model of sustainable residences in the Kelurahan Citeureup, one of sub-district in the North Bandung, through Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) approach. This approach is not only study from architectural aspect, but also study from landscape and the utilities aspects. Meanwhile, this method of this study is to conduct morphology analysis to recognize the pattern and urban structure, also the water flow patterns in this area. The result then will be used to elaborate the strategic developing for environmental friendly settlement and residential area (sustainable residences, especially in water well-disposed so that to reduce the flood impact when rain season, the shortage rainfall when dry season, and to fulfill further the sustainability of water needs.

Abstract

The Covid – 19 pandemic has been generated the biggest disruption of education teaching and learning methods at all levels of education, from kindergarten to tertiary institution. Distance learning solutions were developed as a quick response to support education continuity. At the early childhood educations, the teachers are expected to adjust quickly to create attractive and innovative learning materials to replace face-to face learning in school and to make it easier for parents who accompany her children at home. Based on those issues, and the contect of distance learning currently held by schools, this Community Services Program are carried out by designing learning material packages that can be used by the kindergarten teachers to teach thematic learning online. The theme developed in this program is expected to replace the study tour around Bandung activity which is regularly held by school every year, in the form of project based learning for kindergarten with tutorial video available. Partner involved in this community services program is Taman Firdaus Percikan Iman (TPFPI), in Ciwaruga, Parongpong, Bandung Barat. Those learning materials packages regarding the introduction of heritage building in Bandung City by through fine motor and cognitivie stimulation activities. Thus, hopefully the results of this community services program can be an alterative solution for distance learning models, not only in TPFPI but also in other kindergartens in Bandung City.

Abstract

Community Service Activities conduct to assist in the reconstruction of the Al Mujabin mosque which has been badly damaged. Abdimas plays the role of an expert who assists in coordination between the local contractor and representatives of crowdfunding foundations. The purpose of this assistance is to realize the construction of the Al Mujabin Mosque by following the Work Implementation Technical Plan both in terms of design and duration of construction time. To increase funding and time efficiency, the assistance for the construction of the Al Mujabin Mosque was carried out using a hybrid method with one site visit in the middle of the duration of the construction and assistance through Whatsapp, Zoom, and Android-based applications, namely Raken Construction Management. The use of the website and mobile-based technology is effective in assisting coordination between Abdimas, foundations, and field implementers so that the problems and quick solutions needed can be properly accommodated. The output of this community service is the completion of the construction of the Al-Mujabin Mosque in Kertajadi Village, Cidaun District, Cianjur Regency by Architects and Construction Experts following a predetermined design, both in terms of coordination, supervision, problem-solving, and timeliness construction.

Abstract

Bandung is one of the cities experiencing rapid development in the creative industry, supported by various facilities, one of which is the Bandung Creative Hub (BCH). The Bandung Creative Hub serves as a platform for the community to create, innovate, and collaborate in various creative fields. However, the success of a creative hub in supporting the effectiveness of its facilities does not solely depend on the availability of space and amenities but also on the level of indoor comfort, which can influence the productivity and creativity of its users. Optimal indoor comfort creates a more conducive atmosphere for users to express their ideas and creative concepts. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of indoor comfort on creative activities at the Bandung Creative Hub by examining aspects such as thermal comfort, lighting comfort, acoustic comfort, ergonomics, as well as aesthetics and spatial atmosphere. The research methods used include a questionnaire survey of visitors to the Bandung Creative Hub and direct observation to identify the conditions of spatial comfort. The results indicate that, overall, the indoor comfort of the Bandung Creative Hub is considered quite good, but several aspects still need improvement in terms of facilities and space management. One of the main concerns is the relatively high noise levels in certain areas, which may disrupt users' concentration when engaging in creative activities. Additionally, the spatial layout is not yet fully optimized to facilitate interaction and collaboration among users effectively. Based on this study, several improvements need to be made to the Bandung Creative Hub, particularly in enhancing facility quality, managing noise levels, and optimizing spatial arrangements to be more flexible and aligned with user needs. With these improvements, BCH is expected to create a more comfortable and conducive environment that supports productivity and fosters innovation in Bandung's creative industry.

Abstract

Hostile Architecture is a public space design strategy that aims to shape and control social behavior by preventing certain activities that are considered undesirable, such as sleeping in public places, staying too long in one spot, or gathering in large groups. This approach is often applied subtly through design elements such as street furniture that are intentionally designed to reduce comfort or accessibility in order to prevent misuse of space. One area that often experiences undesirable behavior is the pedestrian sidewalk along Jalan Dago, Bandung. This area, although it has high pedestrian activity, is also vulnerable to problems such as vandalism, crime, and other non-productive activities. This study chose Jalan Dago as a case study because its physical and social context is considered suitable for the application of Hostile Architecture design strategies. The main objective of this study is to develop a street furniture design model with Hostile Architecture principles to improve security, order, and social control in public spaces. The research method used in this design is a qualitative design-based approach, through participatory observation, field documentation, and literature studies related to user behavior and public space design. The analysis will focus on how specific elements—such as slanted benches, armrests, glaring lighting, and surface modifications—can discourage deviant behavior without completely eliminating the function of the space. The results of the study have shown that the characteristics of Jalan Dago can support the application of Hostile Architecture through appropriate design to the context. Therefore, several street furniture models are proposed to minimize the potential for negative activities, while creating a safer, more comfortable, orderly, and inclusive public space for its users.
