Abstract

Nutritional intake during pregnancy has an effect on fulfilling iron needs because there is an increase in the mass expansion of red blood cells, the need for iron increases and this will have an impact on anemia. The incidence of anemia in pregnant women is still quite high, based on Riskesdas (2013) states that 37.1% of pregnant women have anemia due to malnutrition. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nutritional intake and hemoglobin levels of pregnant women in the UPTD Ciawigebang District Health Center. This research method is quantitative, sampling with a total sampling technique with a total of 25 pregnant women. The instrument used was the observation sheet and the analysis used the Spearman Rank. Based on the results of the univariate analysis study, most pregnant women had moderate nutritional intake, namely around 68% (17 people), while most pregnant women had Hb levels <11gr% or mild anemia, namely around 56% (14 people). The results of the bivariate analysis showed a value (r = 0.411 p = 0.041), this indicated that there was a significant relationship between nutritional intake and hemoglobin levels of pregnant women. It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between nutritional intake and hemoglobin levels of pregnant women. It is expected for pregnant women to pay more attention to nutritional intake in each so that the fulfillment of mother and fetus nutrition is fulfille

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia is a decrease in the number of red blood cells caused by too little iron. Based on a preliminary study of 10 respondents, it was found that 60% of respondents had anemia and 40% did not have anemia. The study aims to determine the effect of a combination of spinach and guava juice on increasing in Hb levels. The research uses quantitative methods with the type of experimental Quasi research and the design used is Nonequivalent Time Sample Design or One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The total population of Students is 69 people with purposive sampling technique obtained samples of 18 people. The analyses used are univariate and bivariate using Paired Sample T Test. The results of the seven-day study showed that the rate of anemia before juice was 22.2% and after juice is 5.6%. The average increase in Hb levels before Juice was 12.2 gr/dl and after Juice is 13,0 g/dl with a difference of 0.8 gr/ dl, using Paired Sample T Test obtained a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05). The results of the study show that there was an effect of combined consumption of spinach and guava juice on increasing hemoglobin levels in Midwifey Students of Institute of Health Science Kuningan in 2019. Recommendations for health professionals, especially midwives, to provide services for anemia prevention through health promotion and for midwifey institutions are used for advanced research.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is still a public health problem in Indonesia that affects mothers and babies. The government has implemented a supplementation program for iron tablets (IBT) to prevent anemia, but the compliance of pregnant women with these tablets is still low. Various factors, such as lack of awareness, side effects, and mothers’ perceptions of the importance of IBT, contribute to low compliance rates. This study analyzes the impact of the main reasons for not taking IBT on the number of tablets consumed during pregnancy based on data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). This study used an analytical cross-sectional study design with secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey. The independent variable was the main reason for not taking IBT, while the dependent variable was the number of tablets consumed during pregnancy (≥90). Data analysis was performed using correlation and regression. The results showed that the main reasons for not taking IBT were forgetting (30.39%), nausea/vomiting due to pregnancy (21.57%), bad taste and smell (12.60%), and side effects (12.57%). Most pregnant women did not reach the recommended consumption amount, with 60.37% consuming less than 90 tablets. The reason with the most significant influence on compliance was “not yet up to the end of time” (R=0.344, R²=0.117, p=0.030). The main factors influencing compliance of pregnant women in consuming iron tablets were perception of the need for supplements, side effects, and lack of awareness. Increasing education, social support, monitoring strategies, and reminders for consumption are needed to improve pregnant women’s compliance with iron tablets to reduce the incidence of anemia in Indonesia.
