Abstract

Decorative cosmetics function to beautify your appearance with a combination of colors such as blush, hair dye and lip color . A class of cosmetics that women always use to give a more attractive appearance are decorative cosmetics such as lips cream. The coloring ingredients added to lip cream preparations are chosen from an economic perspective, but the optimal level of color stability means that many manufacturers still use dangerous chemical dyes such as Rhodamine B in their products. This dye can cause irritation to the respiratory tract and is carcinogenic. Therefore, the aim of the research is to formulate a lip cream preparation with natural coloring agent from sendunia fruit extract that is safe, useful and of good quality through physical and stability tests. Extraction was carried out using the maceration method for 3x24 hours using 96% ethanol solvent. Senduduk fruit extract lip cream is formulated into 4. The base comparisons carried out were (carnauba wax: microcrystaline wax) F 0 (12.6; 10.6), F1 (9.6; 7.6), F2 (7.6; 9.6), and F4 (9 ;9), physical properties assessed from the organoleptic test, homogeneity test, spreadability test, adhesion, pH test. The results of the hedonic test can be concluded that F2 color is the best formulation interested.

Abstract

Nanotechnology has become a significant focus of research in efforts to address various challenges across multiple fields, including the synthesis of metal nanoparticles using natural bioreductors. This study explores the use of basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) as a natural bioreductor for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag). The extract from basil leaves is rich in flavonoids, which serve as reducing agents in the green synthesis process of silver nanoparticles. The research methods include the preparation of basil leaves, extraction of simplicia, phytochemical analysis, and testing the bioreduction of Ag+ ions. The results indicate that the addition of basil leaf extract effectively reduces Ag+ ions to Ag⁰, marked by a color change in the solution to yellow-green within 60 minutes. The uniqueness of this study lies in utilizing basil leaves as an environmentally friendly bioreductor in the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. These findings have broad potential applications in catalysis, sensing technologies, and cosmetics.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus remains one of the most dangerous illnesses worldwide. The PPAR-gamma protein plays a crucial role in lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, making it a key target for diabetes therapy. Research into plant-derived active compounds for diabetes treatment is increasingly important. Objective: This study aims to evaluate and analyze the interaction of ferulic acid, niazirin, and bakuchiol with the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) protein using molecular docking. Methods: Molecular docking was employed to assess the interactions between ferulic acid, niazirin, bakuchiol, and the PPAR-γ protein (PDB ID: 2PRG). The analysis focused on binding free energy values, amino acid residue interactions, the number of hydrogen bonds, and bond distances, comparing these results to those of the native ligand and pioglitazone, a known anti-diabetic drug targeting PPAR-γ. Results: The binding free energies for the ferulic acid-PPAR-γ, bakuchiol-PPAR-γ, niazirin-PPAR-γ, native ligand-PPAR-γ, and pioglitazone-PPAR-γ complexes were -5.54 kcal/mol, -8.47 kcal/mol, -6.56 kcal/mol, -10.08 kcal/mol, and -9.94 kcal/mol, respectively. The amino acid residue similarity percentages with the native ligand were 18.18% for ferulic acid, 27.27% for bakuchiol, 18.18% for niazirin, and 81.82% for pioglitazone. The native ligand-2PRG and pioglitazone-2PRG complexes exhibited superior hydrogen bond numbers and shorter bond distances compared to the other compounds. Conclusion: Although bakuchiol showed the most promising interaction among the tested compounds, none surpassed the binding affinity and stability of the native ligand or pioglitazone. Further research is needed to optimize these compounds for potential anti-diabetic therapy.
