Abstract

This research focuses on the quality of translation used in the movie “The Social Dilemma” through a morphological analysis. By exploring the film as a whole and then using a purposive sampling technique, the researchers selected terms that aligned with the objectives of this study. Using the theory from Garvey and Delahunty (2010), Hana and Feldman (2013), and Zapata (2000), the researchers found 7 types of words formation, which are affixation, compounding, abbreviation, conversion, coinage, borrowing, and blending. Through the process of identification, this study found some translation quality issues by elaborating those 7 types of word formation which were explained based on Nababan, Nuraeni, and Sumardiono (2012) theory in terms of their accuracy, acceptability, and readability. This study provides readers with an understanding of the types of morphological terms used and aims to benefit future researchers.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis not only affects human well-being but also threatens the sustainability and continuity of nature itself. In response to this crisis, various efforts have been made; however, they remain sporadic and reactive rather than preventive, resulting in ongoing environmental degradation. Therefore, environmental awareness must be cultivated as early as possible, including through the integration of environmental education into the development of teaching materials in schools. Education can serve as a medium to enhance awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and even personality or behavior, including awareness of the environment and its sustainability. This study aims to examine the integration of environmental education into the development of teaching materials implemented in schools and the role of these integrated teaching materials in fostering sustainable awareness among students, which impacts their attitudes and interactions with the environment. The results of the study indicate that the integration of environmental education into teaching materials can be applied across various subjects. These teaching materials are then developed using engaging and contextual learning strategies, such as Problem-Based Learning, Project-Based Learning, and the utilization of technology in teaching. This development enhances students' environmental competence in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

School leadership encompasses various aspects, including the role as both a spiritual and academic leader. However, in practice, many school principals have yet to optimally fulfill these two roles in a balanced manner. Principals tend to focus more on technical and administrative matters, while their role in fostering a spiritual culture within the school is often overlooked. As a result, there is an imbalance between students' academic achievements and character development at school. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the concept of school leadership, particularly the dual role as a spiritual and academic leader, to explore how these roles are synergized within the school environment, and to identify the challenges faced in realizing balanced and effective leadership. The findings indicate that the implementation of spiritual and academic leadership in schools is inseparable from various internal and external challenges, such as the lack of principals' understanding regarding these roles and limited support from the school community. Nevertheless, several strategies can be applied to address these challenges, including enhancing principals' competencies through holistic leadership training and promoting collaboration between principals, teachers, and school committees to develop both spiritual and academic capacities in a balanced manner.

Abstract

Classroom management is a fundamental competency that educators must possess to create, maintain, and restore a conducive classroom environment that facilitates the learning process. As professional educators, teachers are expected to establish and sustain an optimal learning atmosphere that supports the attainment of instructional objectives. Classroom management encompasses a series of deliberate and strategic actions undertaken by teachers to cultivate an effective learning environment. This includes fostering constructive communication and reciprocal interpersonal relationships between teachers and students, thereby promoting a harmonious and supportive classroom climate. The primary objective of classroom management is to establish a learning environment that is both effective and engaging, capable of stimulating students’ motivation to learn in accordance with their individual capacities. Furthermore, classroom management aims to eliminate various obstacles that may hinder the learning process, thereby enhancing instructional effectiveness. Consequently, the role of the teacher extends beyond the mere transmission of knowledge; it also involves motivating, supporting, and facilitating student learning. Teachers are expected to guide students to become more actively engaged in their own learning while also fostering the internalization of ethical values in daily life. A teacher is considered successful when they are able to bring about meaningful cognitive, affective, and moral development in their students.

Abstract

Learning motivation plays a crucial role in determining the effectiveness of learning processes, particularly in Islamic Education, which emphasizes cognitive, affective, and character development. In response to recent educational reforms in Indonesia, the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and the availability of learning facilities are expected to influence students’ learning motivation. This study aims to examine the determinants of students’ learning motivation in Islamic Education through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and learning facilities, both partially and simultaneously. Employing a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from students participating in Islamic Education learning in institutions implementing the Merdeka Curriculum using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and learning facilities have significant positive effects on students’ learning motivation, both individually and collectively. These findings demonstrate that curriculum flexibility, learner autonomy, and adequate learning environments contribute to higher levels of student motivation. The originality of this study lies in its integrated analysis of curriculum implementation and learning facilities as key determinants of learning motivation in the context of Islamic Education, an area that has received limited empirical attention. In conclusion, enhancing students’ learning motivation in Islamic Education requires a synergistic approach that combines effective curriculum implementation with adequate and well-utilized learning facilities.
