Abstract

Qualified human resources and commitment in creating a quality agricultural sector is one of thesuccess factors of sustainable agricultural development. But the current agricultural condition faces a serious problem, the number of young farmers is decreasing. This condition applies in Ciamis regency where the agricultural sector is still the driver of the economic wheel, so the influence on the rate of economic growth is very significant, especially in Cipaku District which has an area of 6,569 ha of agricultural land consisting of dry land and rice fields. However, the interest of the younger generation / youth to cultivate the land is very small, this is due to the perception of farming activities and the fate of farmers are very bleak. In addition, the population working in the agricultural sector is very limited both the main actors and businesses. Especially for the horticultural sector, the role of the main actors was 1,098 (11.7%) and businesses only 164 people (1.7%). This condition has an impact on the sustainability of farming in cipaku subdistrict, because it is actually very dependent on the interest of its youth to continue their parents' profession. The purpose of this research is to describe the interests of farmers, analyze related factors and strategies to increase the interest of farm youth. The analysis used Rank Spearmen and Kendall's W. Analysis shows that the interest of youth farmers in vegetable farming season is relatively high, as well as factors related to the source of information, counseling activities and government support so the interest of farm youth can be improved by carrying out counseling activities as needed

Abstract

Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum capsici and C. gloesporium on chili is a disease that can reduce chili yields up to 80%. Control with fungicide has not been able to provide maximum results, because Colletotrichum can spread due to splashing of water, especially in the rainy season. The use of antagonistic fungi against Colletotrichum spp. has been widely published but is still limited to the laboratory and greenhouse scale, while field conditions are unpredictable. This study aims to identify the potency of Trichoderma viride that can be used as a biofungicide to control anthracnose in chili and to determine aspects of agronomic that can reduce the risk of anthracnose in chili. Samples of infected plants of stems, leaves, and fruits were collected from experimental farm of Bogor Agricultural Development Polytechnic. The experiment was conducted using Randomized Complete Design and Randomized Complete Block Design. The percentage of disease intensity of the fungus C capsici and the intensity of anthracnose in chili both under screen house and open fields. While testing the effect of cultivation aspects using different types of fertilizer on plant height, fruit weight, number of fruits, and the percentage of disease intensity of Colletotrichum spp. were analyzed. The results of this study shown that four isolates of fungi have been identified such as Penicillium sp., Aspergillus flavus, T. viride, and C. capsici. In vitro analysis shown the ability of T. viride to suppress the growth of the C. capsici  up to 71%. The fungus T. viride with a density of 7×106 CFU/mL can suppress the development of anthracnose by 59 to 87% under screen house conditions. However, under field conditions, the fungus T. viride was not able to suppress the development of anthracnose. Agronomic aspects such as plant height, number of fruits and production, and productivity of chili were not significantly effect on anthracnose.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the company's inability to meet modern retail market demand of 21%. This research was conducted to analyze demand data patterns for leaf vegetables, predict future market demand, and develop production planning strategies to obtain optimal profits. The research analysis methods used are moving average, single exponential smoothing, ARIMA. The selection of the appropriate forecasting method is determined based on the smallest error value produced. Production planning to determine the right production strategy. Based on the research results, it is clear that the resulting request data pattern is a random pattern. The chosen forecasting method is Single exponential smoothing for romain and ARMA for coriander, curly lettuce, horenzo. The results of the research show that forecasting demand for leaf vegetables for the next six months obtained a constant level of demand forecasting for romain and varied with a decreasing trend for coriander, curly lettuce, and horenzo. Production planning strategies to increase profits in this research can be fulfilled with two alternatives, namely achieving land area using the economy of scale principle and increasing supply from partners with a comparison of the benefits of increasing land area with a more optimal economy of scale principle, namely 300% for romain, 450% for coriander, 237% for curly lettuce, and 185% for horenzo rather than increasing supply from partners. The advantage of this research is discussing four types of commodities while comparing three quantitative analysis methods. The contribution to the company from this research is being able to analyze up to the comparison stage the profits that will be received by the company. This research provides a solution so that companies can prepare production in an effective and efficient manner and achieve optimal profits.

Abstract

Jagung manis merupakan produk pangan strategis nasional yang berpotensi untuk dikembangkan, namun permasalahan kurangnya lahan garapan. Salah satu cara mengatasinya dengan menanam tanaman jagung sistem pertanaman berganda sebagai tanaman sela di bawah tegakan naungan, upaya ini dilakukan untuk mengefisiensikan pemanfaatan lahan dan meningkatkan produktivitas tanaman. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada Juli 2023 sampai November 2023 di Kebun Percobaan Pasir Kuda IPB, Dramaga, Bogor. Penelitian disusun dengan rancangan petak tersarang (Nested Design) dengan petak utama adalah naungan dan anak petak adalah 25 genotip jagung hibrida. Faktor naungan terdiri atas 4 taraf, yaitu 0%, 25%, 50%, dan 75%. Parameter yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, lebar daun, panjang daun, diameter batang, klorofil a dan b, karotenoid, total klorofil, kerapatan trikoma, panjang dan diameter tongkol, serta bobot tongkol dengan dan tanpa kelobot. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa penggunaan naungan berpengaruh terhadap karakter morfologi tanaman dan fisiologi. Hasil tanaman jagung manis mengalami penurunan seiring dengan peningkatan persentase naungan. Tanaman jagung lebih toleran pada kondisi lahan dengan intensitas cahaya matahari penuh. Lima genotip jagung manis terbaik lebih toleran pada intensitas cahaya rendah yaitu genotip Eksotik, Paragon, Talenta, Golden Boy, dan F1 SM12-2 x T10-3.

Abstract

Curly chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is a horticultural commodity of significant economic value in Indonesia. However, its production frequently encounters challenges due to pests and diseases.This study aims to examine the effectiveness of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) in mitigating pest and disease attacks on curly chili plants. The study was conducted from March to December 2024 at the Experimental Garden of the Department of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural Development Polytechnic.The experiment employed a nested plot design, incorporating two levels of NPK fertiliser application and three levels of POC doses.The parameters observed encompassed the population of the primary pests, the presence of natural enemies, and the incidence of the predominant diseases. The findings indicated that the application of POC at optimal doses was effective in suppressing pest populations and reducing the incidence of diseases, particularly Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV) (10.69%) and Pepper Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (13.97%).Consequently, the study concluded that the application of POC holds considerable potential as an environmentally sustainable alternative in the curly chili cultivation system, thereby reducing reliance on chemical pesticides.
