Abstract

One of the dominant activities in the production process in shipyards is plate cutting. So that in this process, the cost of the cutting process will also have a large enough share. In the shipyard, manual cutting is still often encountered because the position and location of the plate cutting varies, although technologically there are automatic cutting machines which tend to be tied to the cutting location. In the Oxy-Lpg plate cutting study that has been carried out, the regression results are obtained, with the time equation Y = 33.826X – 0.9026, the Lpg consumption equation Y= 0.057 + 0.017X and the Oxygen consumption equation Y= -0.415 + 0.127X. based on the existing equation, the cost analysis of the cutting process obtained the cost of cutting the 6 mm plate IDR. 13,400 rupiah, the 8 mm plate IDR. 20,000 rupiah, 10 mm plate IDR 26,700 rupiah, 12 mm plate IDR 33,325 rupiah and 14 mm plate IDR 40,000 rupiah with a cutting length 100 cm

Abstract

Abstract

The process of manually cutting plates with oxy-LPG gas is still widely used in shipyards and ship sub-contractors in Indonesia, both in the production of new building ships and repairs. In the cutting process, one of the factors that can affect the quality of cutting is the use of a tip nozzle distance. In the shipping industry, it is often found that the use of the tip nozzle distance in the process of manually cutting plates varies. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the nozzle tip distance on the need for oxy – LPG gas and the duration of cutting. This research method was carried out using the experimental method of cutting plates. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that the higher the use of the nozzle tip distance, the need for oxy-LPG gas will increase while the cutting duration is not. The linear regression equation obtained between the distance of the tip nozzle and the oxygen requirement is Y = 0.0171X + 0.5357 and the tip nozzle distance with the LPG needs is Y = 0.0071X + 0.06, and the polynomial order 2 non-linear regression equation obtained between the tip nozzle distance and the cutting duration is Y = 0.9895X2 – 19.312X + 310.09 and the optimal distance of the tip nozzle is obtained at a distance of 9.758 mm with a cutting duration of 215.862 seconds.

Abstract

Manual Cutting is part of the process in ship building and ship repair. Oxy-LPG gas is widely used in the process of cutting plates with manually or automatically method. In the process cutting of plates in ship repair, the cutting position are Down Hand, Vertical and Overhead in cause the gas consumable and cutting duration proces are still not widely known numerically. In improving the data, a survey and initial study are needed as a support, so to obtain standard data for manual plate cutting numerically, plate cutting experiments are carried out in several variations in position and plate thickness variations. The results of the equation in manual plate cutting Downhand obtained Y=43,667x-43 (Duration), Y=0.0875x-0.2833 (O2) and Y=0.051x-0.0922 (Lpg). Vertical Y=34,667x-9,333 (Duration), Y=0,1042x-0.3778 (O2) and Y=0,0608x+0,1033 (Lpg) while Overhead Y=33.667x+28,111 (Duration), 0, 0792x+0.0922 (O2) and Y=0.1008x-0.2433 (Lpg). For the cost analysis, it was found that the cost increase was 8.49% based on the function of the increase in plate thickness. If it is based on the position function, the average cost increase is 10.55%.

Abstract

In maritime industry, especially shipbuilding in Indonesia, various of cutting processes are implemented, which one is Gas Manual Cutting. Generally, gas requirements and duration of plate cutting processes are calculated based on previous work experience. The use of different nozzle tips by the operator will affect to gas consumption and cutting duration in each process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the tip-nozzle size on the duration and OXY-LPG gas requirements in manual plate cutting. The research was conducted using an experimental-based research with linear regression analysis using the ANOVA method. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be known that the larger the diameter of the nozzle tip, the requirements for OXY-LPG gas will increase by following the equation ????=0,1117????+0,3533 for Oxygen and ????=0,025????+0,0489 for LPG. Meanwhile, the larger of nozzle tip diameter can cause a decrease in the cutting duration required by following the regression equation ????=−28,603????+293,01.

Abstract

Paint serves as a coating material that provides aesthetic value, adhesive strength, and protection to surfaces from environmental corrosion. The one of critical aspect is the paint and thinner ratio, which can influence adhesive strength and the performance of protection. This experimental study investigates the effect of varying ratios of epoxy zinc paint (Avantguard 750) and thinner (08450) on adhesion strength and drying rate. Paint was mixed with thinner at 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% of the paint's volume. Steel plates were used as test specimens, coated via spray method. Adhesion quality was assessed using the “X–Cut Test” and “Cross Cut Tape Test” based on ASTM D3359 Methods A and B and the adhesion tests showed excellent results with a rating 5, indicating no peeling. Drying quality was evaluated using the “Solvent Rub” method according to ASTM D4752-20. Dry tests also have positive results with a rating 5 within 6 to 24 hours. The findings suggest that variations in thinner concentration do not significantly affect adhesion strength or drying time.

Abstract

Abstract - Seaweed is one of the biological resources that is very abundant in Indonesian waters. Indonesia's seaweed export products are currently still dominated by seaweed products, reaching 80%. For export needs, the water content of seaweed must reach around 15%. To achieve export standard moisture content, wholesalers or industries usually carry out the seaweed drying process independently. Meanwhile, to avoid losses in exporting dried seaweed, they test seaweed samples to be purchased to determine the percentage of water content reduction in the seaweed. In the testing process, currently we are still using a small oven with a gas-burning stove and a separate digital scale. The use of this device is felt to be less effective and less flexible in its application. Therefore, we need a tool that is integrated into one and is small in size to detect the percentage of water content reduction in seaweed samples. In this research, experimental methods were used in testing equipment and collecting data. The results of the experiment showed that a good temperature to use in drying seaweed samples was 160 OC with the result that the seaweed was dry but not burnt. Meanwhile, the shrinkage percentage is around 34.72%.
