Abstract

Majelis Taklim is a community with potential human resources that can be empowered to benefit its members and society. This community service aims to empower the Majelis Taklim Hidayatullah of Tenggela village in processing blondo-based food using the Asset Based Community Development ABCD method. Blondo is the dregs of coconut milk that are cooked to produce oil in the form of small lumps, the processing of which takes hours. The members of the Majelis Taklim Hidayatullah have diverse potential; some have skills in flower arranging, sewing, and making snacks. On the other hand, Tenggela Village has many natural resources, such as coconuts. blondo often becomes environmental waste, so members of the Majelis Taklim took the initiative to use blondo as food. Therefore, the service team provides assistance training in making and packaging food from blondo. The results of the service show that (1) Majelis Taklim Hidayatullah members have potential in processing food; (2) Tenggela Village has a source of raw materials for making blondo cake; (3) Public interest in consuming blondo snacks and pepes blondo is still minimal.(Majelis taklim adalah sebuah komunitas mempunyai potensi sumber daya manusia yang dapat diberdayakan demi kemaslahatan anggotanya dan masyarakat.

Abstract

This bibliometric analysis examines research trends on students’ engagement in EFL classrooms from 2020 to 2023, revealing substantial academic interest with a total of 982 publications. The analysis highlights a peak in publications in 2022, underscoring the growing emphasis on student-centered teaching approaches. However, citation metrics show a significant decline over the years, indicating a shift in scholarly attention and citation behavior. The study also identifies a marked disparity in author influence, with the top 20 authors contributing to a significant portion of the citations. Keyword analysis and network visualization using VOSviewer reveal a strong focus on themes like online learning, student engagement, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings suggest that while the field is expanding, there is a need for ongoing research to address emerging challenges and sustain academic impact. This study contributes to understanding the dynamic landscape of EFL education, providing insights for future research and practice.

Abstract

Foreign language anxiety is a type of anxiety that is experienced by individuals when learning, speaking, or interacting in a foreign language. Some scholars have been interested to investigate the foreign language anxietyin the classroom and identified the cause of students’ foreign language anxiety, either in international context or Indonesia context. Most of the factors related to the linguistic aspect, such as students lack vocabulary, students lack of pronunciation, and do not understand of teacher’s talk. However, the research about factors of foreign language anxiety is caused by non-linguistic aspect was still undergrown. This research came to stipulate the gap of knowledge. This research used qualitative method and study case design. It took 20 students of English Education Department FITK IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo who have Upper-Intermediate proficiency level. The instruments of research used foreign language anxiety scale to identify factors of students’ foreign language anxiety and in-depth interview to know the students’ reason of being anxiety in foreign language classroom. It used triangulation method in analysing data, namely reducing data, displaying data, and drawing conclusion. The results showing that there were 3 non-linguistic aspects in causing students’ foreign language anxiety. First, they felt worried if they had to speak in front of the class and answered the lecturer's questions voluntarily. Second, they felt worried if they do not understand what the lecturer is talking about. Third, they felt worried if they did not prepare before the lesson started. Fourth, students felt worried if they would get a bad score. This result implied to the teacher’s technique in asking the students to speak in front of the classmate. Therefore, the research suggested to apply small group discussion in teaching and learning speaking skill in foreign language classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the application of interactive learning methods in English classes and identify the challenges faced by teachers at SMK Teknologi Muhammadiyah Limboto. As vocational students require practical communication skills, the study explores how teachers bridge the gap between student passivity and active engagement in the classroom. This study employed a qualitative survey method. Data were collected through classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with English teachers, then analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns in teaching strategies and classroom dynamics. The findings reveal that teachers actively implement various interactive methods, including Project-Based Learning, Role-Playing, Group Discussions, Storytelling, and Debates. These activities are supported by digital tools such as Flip, Padlet, Quizizz, and Kahoot to foster a collaborative learning environment. However, the implementation faces several challenges, specifically time constraints, disparities in student abilities, and limited infrastructure. Teachers overcome these obstacles through adaptive strategies like cooperative learning and the utilization of simple technology. The study concludes that while challenges exist, interactive learning effectively promotes critical thinking and communication skills, suggesting a need for continued pedagogical adaptation and facility support in vocational education.

Abstract

This study addresses the challenges faced by senior high school students in developing speaking skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL), including limited vocabulary, pronunciation difficulties, low confidence, and the use of less engaging instructional media. The study aimed to develop and validate animated video-based English learning media to support students’ speaking skills. It employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using a modified ADDIE model limited to the Analyze, Design, and Develop stages and was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Kabila during the 2025/2026 academic year. The needs analysis involved interviews with an English teacher and questionnaires administered to Grade X students. The developed 2D animated videos were validated by three media experts and three language experts using structured validation instruments. Feasibility was determined using percentage-based criteria, in which scores above 61% were categorized as feasible and scores above 81% as very feasible. The results showed that the media expert validation reached an average score of 82.18% (very feasible), while language expert validation reached 90% (very feasible), indicating high validity and appropriateness. A small-scale trial involving six students produced an average response above 90%, reflecting strong attractiveness, clarity, and motivational value. These findings suggest that the developed animated video-based media are valid and feasible for supporting speaking instruction at the senior high school level. However, this study was limited to validation and small-scale testing; therefore, future research should conduct large-scale implementation and experimental studies to examine the effectiveness of the media in improving students’ speaking performance.
