Abstract

This research examines the repetition patterns found in the creative process of Ketut Sugantika Lekung's Porosan Series artworks. Porosan Series is one of Ketut Sugantika Lekung's artworks, inspired by the shape and the making process of a sacred ritual object called Porosan. In general, Porosan Series artworks display visualizations that emphasize the impression of repetition. The creative process of the Porosan Series imitates the process of making the original Porosan. Imitation activities in this creative process were studied to see the influence of traditional repetition patterns originating from making original porosan. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, which emphasizes more in-depth data analysis. The results of the research show indications of the influence of original porosan making's traditional repetition pattern in the creative process of the Porosan Series. The Porosan Series creative process also uses three stages like the original porosan: preparation, realization, and finishing, but the original Porosan's final stage is drying, not finishing. Even though there are several modifications, the strong influence of the traditional repetition pattern is still visible because it shows some behaviors that are similar in every stage and process between the two things, such as focus, relaxation, and sincerity, thus creating a meditative state without realizing it. This research is essential to see the impact of local wisdom, which can positively influence the creative process of original Balinese artists to create a potential new method based on Balinese traditions and local wisdom.

Abstract

Merajan Alit is a place of worship in every Balinese Hindu family house. Visual beauty and its close relationship with self-identity and family make the creator interested in visualizing it into painting works. The foundation used was the Alma M. Hawkins method, Exploration, Improvisation, and Forming. Each of these methods contains methods and stages of creation that are applied by MBKM partners. From these methods and successes, six works were produced, entitled; 1) “Kemulan”, 2) “Taksu”, 3) “Aku Ingin Pulang”, 4) “Punggel”, 5) “Mencari Kedalam Diri”, 6) “Happy Family”. In these six works, the creators combine the transfer of technology, skills and knowledge obtained from campuses and partners, so as to create works that are expected to become the characteristics of the creators. With this work, it can be said, Merajan Alit can be a personal trigger because it is very closely related to personal and family identity. The feelings that arise can be very unique and varied so it is very suitable to be visualized as a work of painting. In addition, the use of traditional painting tools is also important because of the ancestral heritage so that it does not become extinct.

Abstract

Bali has many types of dances. In Bali you can find many types of dance, such as the barong dance. One of them is Barong Landung, which is the embodiment of a human or giant. With the presence of barong landung, Balinese people interpret it as a force that is believed to provide safety. The research problem focuses on the form of barong landung in the Abiantuwung Traditional Village, Barong Landung has a symbol of connection with Pura Dalem Balingkang. The research uses qualitative methods with analysis of interview and observation data. From the research results, it was found that the Barong Landung in the Abiantuwung Traditional Village is different from the barong landung in general in Bali. Barong landung is the embodiment of the Almighty Creator himself, which undagi in the past was certainly created in accordance with the conditions of the time at that time, namely when intercultural marriage between China and Bali was hot. The charm of this dance can generally only be enjoyed at special moments such as religious holidays in Bali which are usually called Piodalan which are held at certain temples. However, the barong landung in the Abiantuwung Traditional Village is only performed on certain days, such as at certain sasihs where the barong landung goes around at night without lights.
