Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is the  most common metabolic diseases and can cause complication. This disease can cause complaints regarding microcirculation and macrocirculation as well as sarcopenia, which can interfere the capability in performing daily activities. This community service were carried out on 100 respondents using the counseling method and Body Mass Index (BMI) was measured for each participants. The results obtained were 12% of the respondent were underweight, 17% respondents have normal BMI, 19% were overweight, 31% have obesity type 1 and 21% respondents have type 2 obesity. As for the knowledge there was an increased in the average score of knowledge from 4.5 in the pretest  to 6.3 for the average post test score

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia caused by defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. The number of people with DM has increased to approximately 463 million individuals aged 20-79 worldwide. Several complications can arise due to DM, one of which is gangrene wounds. Gangrene wounds are the most common microvascular complication in DM patients. Nutritional intake is a crucial component in the wound healing process. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between diet and the degree of gangrene in DM patients. The method used is an observational analytical approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample size consists of 51 respondents obtained from medical records and questionnaires filled out by DM patients. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 23 respondents had a moderate diet (45.1%), and the majority of respondents had wounds classified as degree 3 (21.6%). A significant relationship was found between diet and the degree of gangrene in DM patients (p<0.005). Thus, it can be concluded that a significant relationship exists between diet and the degree of gangrene in DM patients

Abstract

Depression is a mental disorder characterized by mood disturbances and loss of interest in life activities for a long period. Depression can affect all aspects of life, including relationships within family, friends or communities that can cause problems in life and work. An estimated 3.8% of the world's population or equivalent to 280 million people in the world experience depression, with a higher incidence in women than men. The incidence of depression can reduce productivity and quality of life, even to the point of causing suicidal tendencies. Due to the severity of the complications that can arise, several things need to be done to overcome depression, one of which is by doing acupressure. Community Service Activities (PKM) were carried out on 69 respondents using the counseling method and measuring the knowledge of each participant with a questionnaire and training was carried out to overcome depression with acupressure. The results of the level of knowledge regarding the causes, symptoms and how to overcome depression obtained before the counseling were good knowledge 36%, sufficient 51%, and lacking 13%. After the counseling, an increase in the level of knowledge regarding the causes, symptoms and how to overcome depression was obtained, namely good knowledge 70%, sufficient 23%, and lacking 7%.

Abstract

Abstract

Background Most countries around the world suffered from the high-level transmission COVID-19. Thus, the government enforced a policy for the citizens to work from home. These restrictions impact the mental health of the citizens, and the prevalence of stress increases. Some of the factors that affect stress are magnesium intake and physical fitness. The study found that magnesium levels and fitness are correlated with stress levels. But some studies got different results. Thus, learning more about the relationship between magnesium level, fitness, and stress level is necessary. Methods This is a cross-sectional design study with consecutive non-random sampling methods. This study involving online drivers was held in Kampus B, Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Trisakti, in September 2022. The inclusion criteria are aged 15-64 years, willing to sign the informed consent, can communicate well, while the exclusion criteria are in the therapy of anti-depressant or anti-anxiety drugs, and has a history of heart attack within one month. Results Based on the data, it can be concluded that most respondents are male, from the middle-aged group, and suffer from obesity, and about 50% of the respondents suffer from high blood pressure. Most respondents have normal blood-magnesium levels and medium levels of stress, while all the respondents have poor or very poor physical fitness. On the Chi-square test between age, sex, body mass index, blood pressure, physical fitness and stress level, the level of significance consecutively are 0.645; 0.208; 0.364; 0.451 and 1.000. While on the Fisher test, the significance level between blood magnesium level and stress level is 0.099. Conclusions Based on the bivariate test, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between age, sex, body mass index, blood pressure, physical fitness and blood magnesium level with the stress level.

Abstract

Background Non-Hodgkin’s Malignant Lymphomas (NHMLs) with large cell morphology have similar histopathological appearance with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, undifferentiated type therefore ancillary examination such as Immunohistochemistry (IHC) are required. Quantitative histomorphometrical analysis able to identify subtle detail. The aim of this study is to measure the accuracy of quantitative histomorphometrical analysis to distinguishing NHML, large cell type with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.   Methods Up to 33 Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) slides from NHML, large cell type, and 27 cases of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma were photographed under 400 times magnification with a total of 7131 images. Background, nuclei, and extra-nuclear components between cells are segmented as mathematical objects. Objects’ properties were measured and represented as distribution factors (minimum, quartile 1, median, quartile 3, maximum, range, and interquartile range). Significant factors that can differentiate the study groups are measured with a fisher-exact statistical test. Models to predict NHML, large cell type from nasopharyngeal carcinoma were formulated with different numbers of factors. The HE diagnosis accuracy compared to IHC was measured   Results A sum of 7131 with 3893 from NHMLs, large cell type, and 3238 images of nasopharyngeal carcinoma were collected. After features selection, up to 76 properties factors are selected. Models' accuracy are ranging from 72.67% with a single factor and up to 89.9% with the whole selected factors.   Summary Models’ accuracy are higher (72.6-89.9%) compared to HE primary diagnosis (60%) in distinguishing NHML, large cell againts nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Quantitative histomorphometry can assist pathologist for early screening to distinguishing NHML, large cell type with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.
