Abstract

This study aims to determine the problems related to the division of gender roles and the existence of gender awareness in the Buginese tribe community. The research method is qualitative with the research location in Parepare, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Data got through interviews and observations. These data are collected, reduced, and presented as research findings. The findings of this study are the division of gender roles in the Buginese tribe group dealing with the problem of double burdens and stereotypes. The existence of gender awareness in the Buginese tribe community can be seen from participation in education and the economy, representation in positions in the public sphere, and the distribution of roles and responsibilities in the domestic sphere. The existence of gender awareness cannot be separated from the challenges of changing social structures that have the potential to present various problems of stability in family resilience. Therefore, this study suggests the importance of revitalizing the philosophy of life of the Buginese tribe who are pro-gender equality, such as a’bulo sibatang, sipatuo sipatokkong, and sibali perri. In addition, it is necessary to involve men in the domestic sphere to maintain family resilience and maintain the spirit of gender equality for the realization of a prosperous society.

The study was conducted at SDN 1 Sangkawana Batukliang District, Central Lombok Regency. Subjects in this study were the Principal, Low - grade teacher Data collection through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews and documentation. Data analysis was performed using the Spiral Analysis model developed by Creswell. Research Findings that teacher competencies in the service of children with learning difficulties need to be possessed. The teacher is a determinant of the success of the learning process especially for children with learning difficulties who need more guidance in learning. In general, the learning process for children with learning difficulties in inclusive schools is the same as regular schools. The difference is in the provision of learning activities and services that are more remedial. This is done starting from the teacher doing adaptation in designing the Learning Implementation lesson plan by the circumstances of the students

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze mathematical concepts embedded in the form and function of Bala Suji, a traditional craft of the Pattinjo community in Pinrang Regency. Employing a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation in Kampung Kappe, a village that actively preserves the making of Bala Suji. The findings reveal that Bala Suji embodies various mathematical concepts, including plane and solid geometry (sulapa appa), arithmetic sequences, geometric transformations (reflection, rotation, translation, dilation), and linear equations in two variables. These concepts are applied intuitively by the community through daily cultural practices without formal mathematical terminology. This research affirms that Bala Suji holds not only symbolic and aesthetic value but also potential as a contextual and meaningful learning medium for mathematics. This study contributes to mathematics education by providing a concrete example of integrating local cultural practices into formal mathematics learning and serves as a reference for developing ethnomathematics-based learning resources that enhance conceptual understanding while fostering students cultural awareness. Keywords: Ethnomathematics, Bala Suji, Contextual Learning Resource
