Abstract

The use of the internet as a medium of communication and interaction was inevitable. Information could spread very quickly, especially on issues such as religion. This also has an impact on the spread of hoax information on the internet. In conjunction with this, many websites/virtual groups have emerged and they carried an “anti-hoax” movement that could filter information, for example, MAFINDO (Masyarakat Anti Fitnah Indonesia – it could be translated in English as Indonesian Anti-Hoax Society). This group adherently helped people clarify misinformation on their website or social media. Therefore, this paper discussed the role of the anti-hoax group in maintaining religious harmony. This research used content analysis to show some posts of this group on their social media. The results of this study indicate that anti-hoax group plays an important role as cyber-police that will help maintain a harmonious life of religion. First, becomes the mover who creates an active, peaceful, and prosperous civil society. Second, becomes the collaborator that cooperates with other parties in an effort to combat fraud and hatred. Third, synergizes as an enlightener to integrate all positive social aspects to create an enlightened society that is immune to hoax outbreaks. Lastly, as the main source which developed a strong, credible, and accountable organization. With this role, the public could be digitally literate about content and misinformation circulating in the community.

Abstract

Given the importance of the presence of the COVID-19 Vaccine/Vaccination, countries in the world, including Indonesia, make the provision of the COVID-19 Vaccine/Vaccination a priority in overcoming the COVID-19 Pandemic. Data on vaccination achievement in West Sumatra as of January 22, 2022 shows that Tanah Datar Regency ranks the third lowest for vaccine achievement in the West Sumatra region. This figure is certainly worrying because it could threaten the smooth running of the government's COVID-19 vaccination program to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in West Sumatra province. For this reason, it is necessary to see how public communication is carried out by the land district government regarding the covid-19 vaccination program. This study uses content analysis to display several posts from the Tanah Datar district government, both from official channels and on their social media. The results of the study show that at least in delivering information related to the Covid-19 vaccination program, the Tanah Datar district government uses 3 (three) approaches, including; (1) Report transparency; (2) Socialization and invitations; and (3) Sanctions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi kajian tentang praktik endorsement yang dilakukan oleh selebriti dengan berfokus pada selebriti yang memiliki jumlah followers akun Instagram terbanyak tahun 2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Instagram menjadi salah satu alat dalam melakukan endorsement bagi pelaku bisnis melalui selebriti untuk memasarkan produknya. Terdapat lima selebriti yang diteliti berdasarkan jumlah followers terbanyak, yaitu Ayu TingTing, Raffinagita, Laudya Cynthia Bella, Prilly Latuconsina, dan Syahrini. Dari hasil penelitian dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 1926 postingan, terdapat 969 postingan yang merupakan tergolong dalam bentuk praktik endorsement. Peneliti menemukan bahwa cara implisit merupakan cara yang paling jarang dipilih oleh selebriti dalam melakukan aktivitas endorsement. Sedangkan cara co-present merupakan cara yang paling banyak digunakan selebriti. Dari penelitian ini diketahui juga bahwa ternyata para selebriti tidak hanya melakukan endorsement pada produk-produk dari perusahaan, melainkan melakukan endorsement pada produknya sendiri. Dengan demikian, penggunaan selebriti di instagram dapat membangun kemenarikan dan kredibilitas produk melalui berbagai bentuk pesan yang disampaikan.

Abstract

This paper will elaborate the struggle of Jalan Sesama TV series in the mid of media and commodities rivalry in the culture Industry. Library research was carried out in doing meta synthesis analysis by exploring the concept of commodity proposed by Theodor Adorno. From the conceptual elaboration, it was found that media still provide place for Jalan Sesama TV Series to do its creation. However, sooner or later, it will be banished and became a weird TV series among others.

Abstract

The main issue in this thesis is the coverage of waste pollution by PT Kemilau Permata Sawit through the lens of environmental journalism. The research aims to determine how the content of the coverage of waste pollution by PT Kemilau Permata Sawit is portrayed in online media and whether the coverage adheres to the values of environmental journalism. The research employed a qualitative research design with a content analysis approach to delve into the specific aspects of the issue under investigation. The data collection techniques included documentation and literature review. The findings of this research show that there were 62 news stories found and published in various online media in West Sumatra, with the reason that research findings regarding PT Kemilau Permata Sawit pollution news did not fully meet the requirements for environmental journalism. News of PT Kemilau Permata Sawit’s waste pollution became the attention of journalists, the public and the media due to their reporting regarding the pollution. It was found that of the 39 news stories that did not meet the standards of environmental journalism reporting principles, 11 of them violated the journalistic code of ethics, 9 violated news verification discipline, 2 news stories violated plagiarism, 6 news stories violated depersonalization and see, and 13 news stories violated the consistency of environmental news. This is of course emphasized so that the information shared by journalists can provide guidance or have an impact on survival in the future. Pokok permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah pemberitaan pencemaran limbah PT Kemilau Permata Sawit dalam kacamata jurnalisme lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana konten pemberitaan pencemaran limbah PT Kemilau Permata Sawit dalam media online dan apakah pemberitaan tersebut sudah memenuhi nilai-nilai jurnalisme lingkungan. Jenis penelitian yang peneliti gunakan adalah jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis isi, untuk mengungkap lebih detail terkait aspek permasalahan yang dikaji. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang peneliti gunakan yaitu dokumentasi dan literasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat 62 berita yang ditemukan dan dimuat pada berbagai media online yang ada di Sumatera Barat, dengan alasan temuan penelitian mengenai berita pencemaran PT Kemilau Permata Sawit yang tidak sepenuhnya memenuhi syarat jurnalisme lingkungan. Berita pencemaran limbah PT Kemilau Permata Sawit menjadi perhatian para jurnalis, masyarakat, dan media akibat pemberitaan mereka terkait pencemaran tersebut. Ditemukan dari 39 berita yang tidak memenuhi standar prinsip pemberitaan jurnalisme lingkungan, 11 diantaranya melanggar kode etik jurnalistik, 9 melanggar disiplin verifikasi pemberitaan, 2 berita melanggar plagiarisme, 6 berita melanggar depersonalisasi dan deideologisasi, serta 13 berita melanggar kekonsistenan berita lingkungan. Hal ini tentu ditekankan perlu diperbaiki agar informasi yang dibagikan jurnalis dapat memberi petunjuk atau berdampak pada kelangsungan hidup di masa depan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practice of journalism in the extracurricular activities at MAN 2 Tanah Datar. Using a constructivist paradigm, the research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews with supervisors and participants of the journalism extracurricular activity, direct observation of journalistic practices, and analysis of journalistic works produced by the students. Supporting data were obtained through literature reviews and online searches to provide a theoretical context. The findings reveal the processes involved in news production and dissemination within the extracurricular activity, highlighting the challenges faced and the social interactions between participants, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Data analysis was conducted interactively, beginning with data reduction, systematic presentation, and concluding with key insights validated through triangulation methods. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of how journalistic culture is developed and practiced within an educational institution, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and overcoming barriers in nurturing student journalistic competencies.

Abstract

Mulanya jurnalistik adalah ilmu yang dianggap sebelah mata karena hanya ditekuni mereka yang professional dibidangnya, namun kini jurnalistik adalah kenyataan. Resistensi jurnalisme sebagai sebuah ilmu meniscayakannya menginisiasi trend-trend bentuk baru. Sebagai sebuah program studi di bawah Kementerian agama, Jurnalistik Islam perlu pengembangan diberbagai bidang. Hampir tiap hari kita disuguhkan dengan produk-produk jurnalisme serta belum ada penelitian yang dilakukan untuk mengukur seberapa pentingnya jurnalisme, dampak apa yang ditimbulkan dengan sepinya peminatan jurnalisme dan bagaimana efektivitas media promosi prodi Jurnalistik Islam selama ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai media promosi dan efeknya terhadap minat siswa terhadap jurnalistik. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif pre-eksperimental tipe one group pretest-posttest. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Video profil Jurnalistik Islam secara signifikan memberikan efek baik kearah negatif maupun positif dan memberikan persepsi pada siswa MAN mengenai produk Jurnalistik.

Abstract

Tanah Datar, known for its rich Minangkabau cultural heritage and dedication to the philosophy of Kitabullah, is facing a disturbing trend. Despite its deep-rooted religious values, Densus88 has reported that the city has the second-highest number of NII terrorist personnel in West Sumatra. This revelation exposes a stark contrast between Tanah Datar's cultural identity and terrorism reports. The government must act to prevent further misconceptions. This research aimed to evaluate the distribution and focus of content related to terrorism on internal and external media sources and the government's approach to countering these issues. The study employed content analysis to examine the news by the Tanah Datar Regency government. This study applied a content analysis approach by Kripendorff, which involved three stages: crawling, coding, and abstracting. In the first phase of analysis, the study found 50 units of data from internal sources and 229 from external sources. The research findings indicated that news related to terrorism in Tanah Datar is only found in external media sources. The top three counter-issues pursued by the government include government branding with 158 posts (69%), and tourism impressions with 16 posts (7%). and health literacy with 11 posts (4.8%). The government has adopted an unconventional approach to address terrorism issues. Rather than reporting such issues on official channels, they opt to utilize media partners, offering an alternative strategy to tackle terrorism.

Abstract

This study examines the role of advertising in shaping social perceptions and reinforcing existing social inequalities in society. In an increasingly digitally connected context, advertising functions not only as a tool for promoting products but also as a cultural force that influences public views on gender, social class, race, and ethnicity. This literature review aims to analyze how advertising creates, strengthens, or even challenges social stereotypes and prevailing norms. Based on a literature review methodology, this research collects and analyzes various relevant academic literatures, including journals, books, and articles that discuss the impact of advertising on social perceptions across different cultural and geographical contexts. The findings show that advertising often reinforces traditional gender stereotypes, portrays social class in a reductive manner, and strengthens racial hierarchies in society. However, on the other hand, there are also efforts to challenge these stereotypes through more inclusive advertising campaigns, such as femvertising. This study also highlights how social media is increasingly playing an important role in shaping narratives about social status and consumer identity. Overall, the findings suggest that advertising not only reflects but also shapes social values and norms, thus having a significant impact on the formation of social inequalities. This research is expected to provide insights for the development of more ethical and diversity-oriented advertising policies and practices

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana fenomena online disinhibition effect dapat terjadi terhadap individu yang berkepribadian introvert. Individu yang berkepribadian introvert cenderung bersikap tertutup, menyendiri, dan menarik diri juga membatasi dalam interaksi sosial secara langsung. Sehingga orang yang memiliki kepribadian introvert dapat mengalami online disinhibition effect karena beranggapan bahwa ini terjadi secara tidak langsung, dengan perilaku yang lebih agresif dan terbuka yang dilakukan secara anonymous. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi pustaka dengan pendekatan kualitatif-deskritif dari hasil review terhadap buku, jurnal penelitian, dan sumber data lainnya yang relevan.
