Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik, menilai kualitas produk sebagai media pembalajaran kimia secara mandiri, serta mengetahui respon siswa terhadap media pembelajaran kimia berbasis android pada materi larutan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model 4-D (Define, Design, Develop dan Disseminate), tetapi pada disseminate hanya dilakukan uji skala kecil. Pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar penilaian kualitas dan angket respon siswa. Media yang dikembangkan divalidasi oleh dosen ahli media dan ahli materi dan penilaian penggunaan oleh guru kimia dan siswa. Hasil uji validasi ahli materi didapat 93,75% dengan ketegori sangat baik, ahli media  didapat 96,7% dengan kategori sangat baik. Penilaian dilakukan oleh lima orang guru kimia di sekolah negeri dan swasta di Yogyakarta. Respon siswa diambil dari 20 siswa di dua sekolah yang berbeda di Yogkarta. Hasil penilaian guru kimia didapat 81,34% dengan kualitas baik. Adapun respon siswa memberikan hasil sebanyak  84%. Hasil penilaian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran cacing kimia memiliki kualitas baik dan efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran kimia mandiri.

Abstract

Food plays a significant role in the religious rituals of Java, specifically within the realm of Islam, where special foods are prepared and consumed during religious ceremonies and celebrations, imbuing spiritual practices with a unique cultural essence. Understanding the chemistry behind these foods is essential for comprehending their health benefits and their embodiment of noble values within Javanese and Islamic cultures. This article seeks to delve into the chemistry of various cultural heritage foods from an Islamic-Javanese standpoint. To achieve this, a thorough literature review was conducted, focusing on culinary practices embedded within the Islamic-Javanese cultural heritage and exploring the corresponding chemical explanations. The research employed a systematic and meticulous search across academic databases, online libraries, and search engines to gather a broad range of perspectives, theories, and empirical evidence. Food, as a reflection of culture, serves both practical and symbolic roles within a particular cultural community. It serves as a manifestation of the values, traditions, and identity of the cultural group, while also meeting the physiological needs of individuals by providing essential nutrients and energy. Beyond mere sustenance, food holds utilitarian value by ensuring survival and promoting overall well-being. By delving into the chemistry of these cultural heritage foods, this article aims to shed light on their significance within the Islamic-Javanese context, uncovering the intricate interplay between chemistry, culture, and spirituality.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian perbandingan aktivitas antidiabetes jamu “X” dan “Y” yang mengandung ekstrak mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) pada mencit putih jantan model diabetes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan efek antidiabetes hamu ‘X’ dan ‘Y’ dalam menurunkan kadar glukosa darah. Hewan uji yang digunakan adalah 24 ekor mencit putih jantan, dibagi secara acak menjadi 4 kelompok yang terdiri dari kelompok I (suspensi tween 1%), kelompok II (suspensi glibenclamid 0,65 mg/KgBB), kelompok III (suspensi jamu X ekstrak mengkudu tunggal 65 mg/KgBB) dan kelompok IV (suspensi jamu Y ekstrak mengkudu tunggal 65 mg/KgBB. Seluruh hewan uji diinduksi dengan deksametason 5 mg/KgBB secara sub kutan (s.c) dan dekstrosa 40% secara peroral (p.o) selama 14 hari, kemudian diberikan perlakuaan sediaan uji selama 14 hari. Efek antidiabetes diuji dengan metode glukosa tes. Data dianalisa menggunakan One Way Anova dan Duncan. Hasil uji One Way Anova dan Duncan menunjukkan bahwa jamu X ekstrak mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) dan jamu Y ekstrak mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) memiliki efek aktifitas yang sama dalam menurunkan kadar gula darah puasa mencit dan pemberian obat glibenklamid memiliki aktifitas yang lebih besar dalam menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dibandingkan dengan produk obat herbal jamu “X” dan “Y”

Abstract

The university's development should not overlook the valuable indigenous knowledge inherited within the local community. Local wisdom comprises the customs and practices that have evolved among particular individuals, rooted in their deep understanding of the local environment accumulated over generations of inhabiting the area. Therefore, when expanding UIN Sunan Kalijaga in the Pajangan region, it is crucial to consider these aspects. This study aims to identify and document the local wisdom present in the Guwosari area, emphasizing its importance for preservation during the development process of Campus II UIN Sunan Kalijaga. A qualitative research method was employed due to the natural setting in which the study was conducted. The findings reveal several enduring legacies of local wisdom, such as the Selarong caves, untouched forests, and the landscapes and waters passed down through the ages. These legacies must be safeguarded and conserved, with development initiatives giving due attention to their protection.

Abstract

Praktikum memegang perananan penting dan tidak dapat diabaikan dalam pembelajaran IPA, khususnya kimia. Hal ini dikarenakan praktikum memberikan pengalaman langsung yang mampu meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan berpikir ilmiah siswa. Namun, pelaksanaan praktikum kimia di SMA sering terkendala biaya alat dan bahan yang mahal. Oleh karena itu diperlukan praktikum yang memungkinkan untuk dilakukan dengan bahan dan peralatan yang terjangkau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang cleaning spray ramah lingkungan dari cuka dan kulit jeruk nipis sebagai inovasi alternatif eksperimen kimia di SMA yang berbasis chemoentrepreneurship. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design Based Research. Design Based Research (DBR) merupakan pendekatan sistematis dengan aspek desain, pengembangan serta evaluasi terhadap intervensi pendidikan (seperti program, strategi dan materi pembelajaran, produk dan sistem). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cleaning spray ini mudah untuk dibuat, praktis, berbiaya ekonomis, dan unggul sebagai media inovasi kewirausahaan kimia. Formulasi optimal cleaning spray untuk uji bersih adalah dengan menggunakan variasi cuka 10 ml dan kulit jeruk nipis 11 g. Sedangkan untuk uji wangi, formulasi terbaik adalah pada variasi cuka 7,5 ml dan kulit jeruk nipis 15 g. Secara keseluruhan, kombinasi optimal adalah cuka 10 ml dan kulit jeruk nipis 11 g. Cleaning spray ini memiliki potensi ekonomi dengan Break Even Point (BEP) tercapai setelah menjual 44 botol, dengan harga per botol Rp5.000. Produk ini menawarkan solusi praktikum murah dan ramah lingkungan sekaligus mendorong pengembangan keterampilan kewirausahaan siswa.

Abstract

The shift towards student-centered learning has heightened the demand for effective learning media in the digital era. Nevertheless, the availability of suitable resources remains limited. The fundamental laws of chemistry involve numerous complex concepts, making learning media essential to support student understanding. This study aims to develop and analyze Google Sites as a learning medium based on the 8E Learning Cycle to enhance the learning process of the fundamental laws of chemistry. The media was developed using the ADDIE model by Dick and Carey, limited to the development stage. Validation was conducted by one media expert and one material expert, while assessments were carried out by five high school chemistry teachers and 11 high school students. Google Sites as learning media developed interactively and compatible, combining the 8E Learning Cycle framework to improve student comperhension.. Validation results showed that media and material experts performed at 95.00% and 85.00%, respectively. The assessment of chemistry teachers was 94.33%, which is included in the very good category. In addition, student responses reached 100%. These findings indicate that the developed Google Sites learning media functions as an effective alternative that is in line with the principles of student-centered learning and supports students in understandingthe fundamental laws of chemistry.

Abstract

The current research seeks to develop and assess the feasibility of puzzles for chemical laboratory glassware integrated with Islam as a learning medium. Conducted through research and development (R&D) method with a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), the present project was limited to the Develop stage. The chosen product was a puzzle of chemical laboratory equipment integrated with Islam as a learning medium. The puzzle was applied to 41 students of the chemistry education study program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga who joined laboratory management course. The assessment of the puzzle performance includes ten aspects with 32 indicators. The data obtained was in the form of qualitative and was subsequently tabulated and analyzed using the criteria for the ideal assessment category to determine the quality of the puzzle media. The developed media has a very-good quality according to the assessment among 41 students. The media obtained a score of 142.63 out of a maximum score of 160 and an ideal percentage of 89.15%. The findings disclosed that the developed media is suitable for use as a supporting learning resource for students to understand chemical glassware.Keywords: puzzle learning media; laboratory tools; integration of science and Islam

Abstract

Ikatan kimia merupakan materi yang sering menyebabkan miskonsepsi bagi siswa. Miskonsepsi ini menjadi salah satu penghambat dalam proses pembelajaran dan menghalangi pencapaian standar ketuntasan belajar minimal. Salah satu cara untuk meremediasi miskonsepsi adalah dengan menggunakan E-LKPD berbasis refutation text. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media pembelajaran E-LKPD berbasis refutation text. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE), yang dibatasi hingga tahap development. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi lembar penilaian kelayakan atau kevalidan dari ahli instrumen, materi, dan media, penilaian guru kimia SMA/sederajat, serta angket respon siswa SMA/sederajat. Produk E-LKPD disajikan dalam format digital melalui heyzine.com, yang dapat diakses melalui perangkat elektronik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, E-LKPD berbasis refutation text pada materi ikatan kimia memperoleh kategori "Sangat Baik" dan dapat diujicobakan dalam pembelajaran ikatan kimia.

Abstract

Chemical misconceptions often occur when students need to understand the initial concept. This misconception has an impact on students' ability to understand the material and results in a decrease in students' learning achievement. Students' concept understanding can significantly improve by applying practical learning approaches, models, and strategies. This study aims to determine how applying the QODE learning model based on PjBL improves grade XI students' learning achievement and critical thinking skills on Buffer Solution topic. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group pretest–posttest design. This study's subjects were control class for cooperative learning group investigation learning model and experimental class for PjBL-based QODE learning model at SMA Negeri 1 Sleman. Two intact classes (n = 36 per group) completed a two-tier multiple-choice critical-thinking test and an achievement test before and after a 3-session intervention. The research data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and the N-gain tests. The Wilcoxon test result shows that both learning models used in experimental and control groups influence student learning achievement and critical thinking with the value of Sig. <0.05. N-Gain test shows that the experimental group experienced an increase of 0.74 for critical thinking skills and 0.78 for student learning achievement which in high category, while the control group experienced an increase of 0.38 for critical thinking skills and 0.73 for student learning achievement which in low and high category. These findings indicate that the QODE learning model based on PjBL contributes to improving students' critical thinking.

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the impact of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and contextual approaches on students' motivations for learning and achievements in chemistry lessons focused on acid-base materials. A quasiexperimental design with a non-equivalent control group was used, and the participants were 66 students of class XI Science students from State Senior High School 1 (SMA N 1) Kalibawang. Data collection instruments included pre and post-questionnaires and test questions. The findings revealed significant differences in students' learning motivations and achievements between the STEM and contextual approaches to acid-base materials. Both approaches improved students' learning motivations, with the STEM approach yielding higher gains.
