Abstract

The improvement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers abundant profits for educational practices, especially in English learning for university students. This paper observes the application of AI tools by students in preparing presentation tasks. Descriptive qualitative research using a questionnaire is used as a research methodology. Data were collected from 51 English for Specific Purposes (ESP) students majoring in Law and Informatics Engineering. A questionnaire consisting of Likert-scale and open-ended items was utilised to discover students’ perception of benefits, challenges, as well as their critical concerns about using AI. Quantitative data from Likert-scale items were analysed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative responses were analysed to discover key benefits, challenges, and ethical concerns related to AI-assisted autonomous English learning. The findings reveal that students frequently used several AI tools, such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, and Grammarly, to support autonomous learning, such as vocabulary development, grammar mastery, and speaking practice. However, limitations appeared, including imprecise outputs, lesser human interaction, potential overreliance on AI, and anxieties related to data privacy and limited consideration of AI instruments. These challenges highlight the need for reinforced digital literacy as well as clear guidance and instruction from the lecturer to preserve meaningful communication and appropriate use of AI tools. The study hints that while AI effectively enhances autonomous English learning, its implementation must be supervised by educators to ensure responsible usage, promote critical thinking, and preserve the human interaction aspects of language education.

Abstract

Technology is developing at a rapid pace, and this significantly affects our daily lives. Gadgets have transformed our lifestyle, particularly in the field of education. One of the aspects impacted is students' learning interest. Students tend to focus more on subjects they are interested in, and less on those they are not. Learning interest is influenced by both internal and external factors, with gadget use being one of the external factors. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which gadgets influence students' learning interest at SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Kepanjen, Malang Regency. The data used in this research is primary data collected through questionnaires. The population consists of 275 students, with a sample of 163 tenth-grade students from all vocational programs at SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Kepanjen. The findings indicate that gadgets have a significant influence on students' learning interest, as evidenced by a significance value (sig.) lower than the probability value (0.001 < 0.05) and a t-calculated value greater than the t-table value (10.745 > 1.975).

Abstract

Public speaking merupakan salah satu keterampilan penting yang diperlukan santri di abad ke-21. Banyak santri Pondok Pesantren Al-Islahiyah masih mengalami kesulitan dalam hal kepercayaan diri, kejelasan pelafalan, serta kemampuan menyusun ide saat berbicara di depan publik. Untuk menjawab persoalan tersebut, tim pengabdian masyarakat UNIRA Malang melaksanakan Pelatihan Public Speaking berbasis metode learning by doing yang bertujuan meningkatkan kepercayaan diri, kemampuan vokal, dan keterampilan menyampaikan pidato. Pelatihan ini mencakup tiga tahap utama, yaitu analisis kebutuhan, pelaksanaan pelatihan, dan evaluasi. Materi pelatihan meliputi struktur pidato, teknik vokal, bahasa tubuh, dan praktik langsung melalui mini-presentasi serta klub latihan pidato. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada aspek kepercayaan diri dan kelancaran berbicara santri. Program ini direkomendasikan menjadi kegiatan rutin untuk mendukung pembinaan karakter dan kompetensi komunikasi santri.

Abstract

Permasalahan kesadaran dan kapasitas pengelolaan lingkungan di Pondok Pesantren Al-Karomah, Malang, mendorong perlunya upaya edukasi yang terarah melalui Program Eco Pesantren. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran dan kapasitas lingkungan warga pesantren melalui sosialisasi program tersebut.Metode yang digunakan meliputi survei lapangan, perencanaan, serta pelaksanaan sosialisasi dengan melibatkan Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) sebagai narasumber. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan pada Februari 2025 berfokus pada edukasi pengelolaan sampah dan pengenalan konsep Eco Pesantren. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan respons positif dan partisipasi aktif dari para santri. Sebagai tindak lanjut, dilakukan penyerahan tong sampah terpilah kepada pihak pesantren untuk mendukung implementasi pengelolaan sampah. Disimpulkan bahwa sosialisasi Program Eco Pesantren berkontribusi dalam mendorong terbentuknya perilaku dan sistem pengelolaan sampah yang berkelanjutan, selaras dengan nilai-nilai Islam, serta mendukung terwujudnya lingkungan pesantren yang bersih dan sehat.
