Abstract

This research concerns with the effort of the Sakai tribe in maintaining their local wisdom and social characters from generation to the next generation eventhough there is minimum outside social interaction. This research involved 9 key informants spread across 5 villages in Bengkalis Regency. They explained their lives in the Sakai people's village, how they modeled and educated the generations and communities to build a safe and peaceful life. The research findings confirm that in their daily lives, women interact a lot with children and other fellow women around the house. The socially visible modeling of women's behavior becomes an imitative model by their community. Patience, thoughtfulness, saving, restraint, not talkative, not getting angry often, using the mantra of overcoming minor problems, including demonstrating how they should behave into a social education slowly builds generational character and teach them how to survive in even difficult situations. This research concludes that Sakai women with their diversity have a strong role as a catalyst for social education and local wisdom of the Sakai people

Abstract

This research aims to explore the forms of academic dishonesty and identify the factors that encourage academic dishonesty behavior among students majoring in English education at an Islamic university in Pekanbaru. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Participants in this study were sixth-semester students selected through purposive sampling techniques. In data collection, the researcher used closed questionnaires and interviews. The results of the study showed six main forms of academic dishonesty that are often carried out by EFL learning students, namely cheating on exams, plagiarism, outside help, prior cheating, falsification, and lying about academic assignments. These behaviors are driven by three main factors: academic pressure, opportunities to cheat, and rationalization of academic dishonesty. In conclusion, academic cheating behavior still occurs among EFL learner students with the most frequent form of academic dishonesty being falsification caused by several factors such as pressure, opportunity and rationalization. The findings are expected to raise student awareness and serve as a basis for lecturers and institutions to design prevention strategies. Future studies should focus on concrete solutions to prevent academic dishonesty in universities.

Abstract

Background: On Post Covid 19, many schools experienced a decline, especially in the learning process. Students who have been at home for a long time, accustomed to gadgets, often seem to lose concentration in learning and focus more often on Google. One effort to restore students' focus on learning in class is of course by building meaningful learning. This community service activity aims to provide pedagogical reinforcement of active learning for teachers so that the learning situation becomes meaningful. Method: It is carried out by combining the ABCD method and Class Action to find out the needs of teachers and ensure that teachers have mastered and can practice them. The results of the mapping obtained are that teachers need training related to learning. Based on the results of the mapping, it was agreed to carry out active learning training, practice in training and post-training practice. Result: The results obtained are that teachers can practice several strategies that spark active learning. Teachers also feel satisfied and happy. The seriousness of the teachers is also evident from the learning practices uploaded to YouTube and Facebook so that they can share good practices of the teachers' actions. Conclusions: This activity is that pedagogical strengthening training is needed for teachers, especially in remote areas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui intensitas keaktifan siswa dalam mengikuti kegiatan organisasi sekolah serta pengaruhnya terhadap pembelajaran dan pengembangan diri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner Google Form yang diisi oleh 125 responden dari berbagai tingkatan sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa memiliki minat dan partisipasi yang tinggi terhadap kegiatan organisasi sekolah. Aktivitas organisasi dinilai mampu memberikan dampak positif terhadap hasil belajar siswa, kinerja guru, serta menciptakan iklim belajar yang kondusif. Selain itu, kegiatan organisasi juga mendorong terbentuknya sikap tanggung jawab, meningkatkan motivasi belajar, serta memperluas wawasan siswa melalui berbagai kegiatan seperti seminar, diskusi, dan kunjungan edukatif. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa organisasi sekolah memiliki peran strategis dalam mendukung proses pendidikan secara menyeluruh, baik secara akademik maupun dalam pembentukan karakter siswa.                         Kata Kunci: Keaktifan siswa, organisasi sekolah, hasil belajar, pengembangan diri, iklim belajar.

Abstract

Teachers’ ability to communicate lessons in the classroom is necessary needed to create meaningful teaching and learning process. The selection of words, how the words arranged and how they are uttered determine whether the class run effectively active or vice versa. Even, the nominal of utterances of teacher state how the class is conducted. The excessive proportion of the teacher's speech will actually make the class inactive and the teacher will have difficulty assessing the extent to which students understand the material presented. Barnes (2008) in Groves and Bull (2014) mentioned that teacher talk or teachers' speech in the classroom has an important role in improving and developing students' knowledge skills. This research was piloted to explore what speech acts expressed by the Islamic teachers in their classroom as it ended up to determine how the class directed. The research is qualitative design by taking one Islamic teacher of Private Islamic Junior High School in Rokan Hulu. The result mentions that the most dominant speech acts is the ordering of directive speech act. In this case, teacher often ordered students to accomplish their group discussion and present the result in front of the class. while the lack of productive questions on the stage of interactive and reflection lead to less of students’ critical thinking. For the next research, it is suggested to have more participants and use supplementary instruments to enrich the data.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas peran kearifan lokal sebagai warisan budaya yang memperkuat identitas masyarakat di Provinsi Riau. Kearifan lokal dipahami sebagai nilai-nilai, norma, dan tradisi yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun dan menjadi bagian integral dari kehidupan sosial, budaya, dan spiritual masyarakat. Melalui pendekatan deskriptif- kualitatif, kajian ini menggali beragam bentuk kearifan lokal di Riau, seperti Nyanyi Panjang, Besesombau, Manolam, Gurindam Dua Belas, Pacu Jalur, Mandi Balimau, Ritual Tolak Bala, dan Festival Lampu Colok. Setiap tradisi mengandung nilai-nilai luhur seperti gotong royong, religiusitas, solidaritas, estetika, serta pelestarian lingkungan dan budaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kearifan lokal tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai identitas budaya, tetapi juga sebagai media pendidikan karakter, ketahanan sosial, dan penolak dampak negatif globalisasi. Oleh karena itu, pelestarian dan penguatan kearifan lokal menjadi penting dalam menjaga ati diri budaya dan membangun masyarakat yang berkarakter.
