The sample of the study consists of twenty-eight EFL students from the English Language Education study program, at Universitas Negeri Makassar using cluster random sampling. The data were analyzed using SPSS 25 to determine the frequency and percentage distributions to identify common patterns in speaking performance levels. Additionally, the mean score is calculated to provide a quantitative measure of the overall speaking performance across the respondents. The findings of the data analysis revealed that the level of EFL students’ speaking performance represents B- level with a mean score of 74.46. As a result, the study emphasizes the importance of structured assessment tools like rubrics in providing objective and comprehensive evaluations of students' speaking performance, and suggests that targeted instructional strategies could help improve specific areas of speaking proficiency. Keywords: Explore, Speaking Performance, Speaking Level, Students

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether cooperative learning (make-a-match type) reduces students' anxiety about speaking English. The research utilized a pre-experimental method with a total sample of 23 students from class X MPLB at SMKN 4 Selayar, employing a cluster random sampling technique. Data collection involved administering a pre-questionnaire, applying the treatment, and then conducting a post-questionnaire. The data analysis results indicate that cooperative learning (make a match type) effectively reduces students’ anxiety in speaking English. This is supported by the t-test value, where Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.00, which is less than the significance level of 0.05. Therefore, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Consequently, it can be concluded that cooperative learning (make-a-match type) alleviates students' anxiety in speaking English. This research contributes to enhancing the English language teaching process by implementing cooperative learning (make-a-match type), aimed at reducing students' speaking anxiety.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of English Education students towards educational podcasts as a tool to improve their listening skills. The subjects of this study were five students of English Education class E. The interview was used as the main instrument to collect data. Abstract

This paper is based on a systematic literature review conducted to justify the introduction of a new course, 'English Language School Management' (ELSM), in the English Language Education Study Program (ELESP) at Universitas Negeri Makassar, Indonesia. The literature review involved a detailed analysis of academic sources relevant to English language education and management, identifying gaps in current academic discourse and practical educational needs in the post-Covid-19 context. Prompted by the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program, which necessitated curriculum revision, ELSM was developed. This course aims to provide ELESP students with critical insights into the operation and management of English language schools. These institutions are vital in non-formal education, as underutilized partners in teacher training programs, and as potential employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for graduates. The introduction of ELSM addresses a notable lack of focus on English language schools within Indonesian academic circles, despite their popularity and significant educational contributions. The development of this course is expected to enhance ELESP students' awareness of both the potential and challenges faced by English language schools, especially in the post-pandemic era.
