Abstract

S Sengon (Falcataria moluccana Miq.) is a pioneer tree species that is widely developed in industrial plantation forests and community forests because of its fast growing species. The properties of sengon seeds which are classified as orthodox can decrease their viability and vigor during storage. The colchicine hormone is expected to increase the acceleration of plant growth so that it can increase the success of sengon seed growth. The aim of this research was to see the effect of colchicine treatment on the accelerated growth of sengon seeds. This research was carried out using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor, namely colchicine concentration. The concentrations used are: 0 (control), 0.5 ppm, 1.0 ppm, 1.5 ppm, 2.0 ppm. The effect of the treatment was seen through variance testing using SAS 9.0 portable software. The variance results showed that soaking in colchicine solution had a very significant effect on the maximum growth potential, germination capacity and germination value, while the colchicine solution soaking treatment had no real effect on growth speed.

Abstract

Compound N-phenetyl 4-O-asetil ferulamide had been synthesized from ferulic acid and phenetylamine through esterification and indirect amidation method. Esterification reaction of ferulic acid with anhydride acetate was done in pyridine solvent at room temperature. Indirect amidation was perform by chlorination using tionyl chloride in benzene solvent at 70°C and continued by amidation with phenetylamine, catalyzed by pyridine in dichloromethane solvent at room temperature. the compound obtained is brown yellowish crystal with melting point 118-120°C. The rendemen of target compound is 53.81%.

Abstract

This training was designed to introduce ecoprint techniques to members of the Women's Dharma Association of the West Papua Provincial Forestry Service, emphasizing its potential as a community-based business opportunity. The activity utilized natural materials readily available in the surrounding environment, such as butterfly pea leaves and flowers, teak leaves, and other local foliage. The training was conducted in stages, beginning with an introduction to the basic concepts of eco-printing, followed by hands-on practice using two main techniques: pounding and steaming. These techniques were applied to cloth tote bags and ceramic mugs. The results showed that participants demonstrated a higher level of proficiency in producing eco prints using the steaming technique compared to the pounding method.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of technology in education, particularly in chemistry education, demands innovation in laboratory activities to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency. One such innovation is the Irydium Application, a digital-based platform for basic chemistry practicum. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Irydium Application among students of the Chemistry Education Study Program who have completed the School Field Introduction Program (Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan/PLP). The research began with a training session on the use of the Irydium Application prior to data collection. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through interviews, surveys, and observations to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the changes and impacts associated with the application’s use in basic chemistry practicum activities. The results show that the Irydium Application is highly needed by PLP students to support laboratory practices in schools. However, students were only introduced to this application after the training. Students also agreed that the Irydium Application is easy to install and operate, and it can significantly enhance the effectiveness of chemistry practicum activities in schools. Therefore, the integration of the Irydium Application can serve as an innovative and technology-based approach to improving chemistry learning and practicum experiences.

Abstract

AR innovation in redox materials: Integrating chemical concepts with the principles of green chemistry Abstract: This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of Augmented Reality (AR)-based chemistry learning media for redox reaction topics, integrated with Green Chemistry principles within the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) framework. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Spiral–Waterfall model, which includes goal analysis, risk identification, design, development, and iteration phases. Media feasibility was assessed through Aiken’s V validity testing and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) reliability analysis. The results indicated very high validity, with Aiken’s V scores ranging from 0.80 to 0.95 across content, visual, interactivity, and pedagogical aspects. Key findings revealed that limited field testing with students achieved an 82.35% satisfaction rate (very good category), despite an ICC reliability score in the moderate category (0.527). It is concluded that the developed AR media is feasible and well-received as a tool for visualizing redox concepts while effectively fostering students' awareness of environmental sustainability principles. These findings contribute to the advancement of digital innovation in ESD-based chemistry education.
