Abstract

The post-pandemic era has brought significant challenges and opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, particularly in terms of financial management, digital adaptation, and strategic orientation. This study examines the influence of financial literacy, digital innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation on MSME performance in the post-pandemic context. A quantitative research approach was employed, with data collected from 135 MSME owners and managers using a structured questionnaire measured on a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. The results indicate that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on MSME performance, demonstrating the importance of sound financial knowledge and management skills in supporting business recovery. Digital innovation is found to have the strongest positive influence on performance, highlighting the critical role of digital technology adoption in enhancing competitiveness and market reach. Entrepreneurial orientation also shows a significant positive effect, emphasizing the importance of innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking in navigating post-pandemic uncertainty. Simultaneously, financial literacy, digital innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation significantly explain variations in MSME performance. These findings suggest that strengthening internal capabilities through integrated financial education, digital capacity building, and entrepreneurship development is essential for improving MSME resilience and sustainable growth in Indonesia’s post-pandemic economy.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of entrepreneurial orientation, innovation capabilities, access to financing, and the application of digital technology on the growth and sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 175 MSME respondents through a Likert scale (1–5) questionnaire and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3) technique. The results show that entrepreneurial orientation and innovation capabilities significantly and positively influence MSME growth, emphasizing that proactive and innovative business behavior enhances performance and competitiveness. Meanwhile, access to financing plays a vital role in supporting long-term sustainability, enabling MSMEs to maintain liquidity and expand operations. Furthermore, the application of digital technology demonstrates a significant impact on both growth and sustainability, suggesting that digital transformation strengthens market presence and operational efficiency. Collectively, these factors account for a substantial portion of the variance in MSME growth and sustainability, highlighting the interdependence between entrepreneurship, innovation, financial access, and technology adoption in shaping Indonesia’s MSME ecosystem.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of transaction costs and opportunistic behavior on the sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, with operational efficiency serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative research approach was employed, involving 185 MSME respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measured on a Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3). The results indicate that transaction costs and opportunistic behavior have significant negative effects on both operational efficiency and MSME sustainability. Conversely, operational efficiency demonstrates a significant positive effect on sustainability and serves as a partial mediator in the relationship between transaction costs, opportunistic behavior, and MSME sustainability. These findings suggest that high transaction costs and opportunistic practices hinder business performance, while efficient operational management enhances long-term viability. The study contributes to the literature by integrating economic and behavioral perspectives within MSME sustainability research and offers practical implications for policymakers and business practitioners to improve operational performance, reduce inefficiencies, and strengthen the resilience of MSMEs in Indonesia.
