Abstract

This research discusses the results of cross-cultural communication discussions that took place in the Medan ARMY community regarding the femininity displayed by BTS. So we get the result that masculinity is BTS's gender identity displayed by the media regarding BTS' feminine appearance, giving rise to a reconstruction of femininity among fans and the wider community. In it there are differences in understanding what femininity and masculinity actually are and how they respond to each of them which becomes an obstacle in the process of cross-cultural communication that exists. According to fans, the rearrangement of the meaning of femininity displayed by BTS creates an alienation of local culture from global culture. The feminine appearance displayed by BTS is considered by Indonesian society to be a social deviation and has a negative impact on Indonesia's young generation. Social construction among Indonesian society regarding femininity and masculinity is a marker of someone's appearance as a gender identity, but this is denied by some groups who think that a person's appearance does not have to be limited by gender. A person has the right to look as comfortable as possible without having to be limited by social constructions that exist in society, as well as the formation of standards from various groups and environments.

Abstract

Given the speed at which technology develops, this does not mean that the development of print media is currently ignored by people. Many people are still interested in reading news through print media such as magazines and tabloids. Of course, not all readers pay attention to their educational background when writing news for magazines, so reporters must have some writing skills in journalistic language. The research focused on the features of the journalism language in the writing of student newspapers, journals published by the UIN SU Dynamics Student Press Institute. How do they use it according to the six characteristics of journalism language: short, concise, simple, straightforward, interesting, and clear. The research was conducted using a qualitative and descriptive method, and a data analysis phase was conducted to understand the use of journalism language in issue 59 of the same magazine dealing with the topic of sexual violence. According to EYD, the journalism languages ​​published in the magazine include features of six journalism languages, including standard language rules for the Indonesian language.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the passage of the Criminal Code Bill which caused many pros and cons among the public because of the existence of articles that were considered controversial and became a topic that was widely discussed, especially until the massive demonstration in 2019 that rejected changes to the Criminal Code Bill. The object of this study is two news about the Criminal Code Bill published on the same day after its ratification by the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia on December 6, 2022. The author examines using descriptive qualitative methods supported by a constructive approach by analyzing data medel Zhongdan Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. The two published news can be interpreted as a forum that clarifies the newly inaugurated Criminal Code Bill in order to keep the atmosphere conducive by presenting explanations and forms of criticism to the government over the new bill. The result is that the two stories studied in the same news portal have similarities in terms of news leads, but the topics raised are very different, the first news highlights endorsements and flashbacks of rejection. While the second news highlights the aspect of the problem after the passage of the Criminal Code Bill regarding the adultery article.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the marketing communication strategies employed by Royal Konveksi & Production (CV. Royal Putra Hutama), a company in the garment and printing industry, with a primary focus on the use of social media, particularly Instagram. With the rapid growth of the garment industry in Indonesia, companies are increasingly competing to utilize effective marketing strategies to maintain their existence and business growth. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, involving in-depth analysis to understand the marketing communication strategies implemented by Royal Konveksi & Production (CV. Royal Putra Hutama). Data were collected through interviews with the company's owners and marketing staff, observation of their marketing activities on social media, and analysis of promotional content posted on the company's Instagram account. The results show that Royal Konveksi & Production (CV. Royal Putra Hutama) has successfully built a significant follower base on Instagram, reaching more than 11,000 followers in less than six years. They have also established business relationships with various leading companies. The marketing communication strategies they employ include careful planning with precise audience targeting, regular content scheduling, optimal utilization of Instagram features, presentation of engaging content, active interaction with followers, and creative and appealing promotions. Performance analysis and strategy adjustments are also integral parts of the company's efforts to ensure the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns. Thus, Royal Konveksi & Production (CV. Royal Putra Hutama) has effectively utilized Instagram as an effective marketing tool in the garment industry.

Abstract

The focus of the problem in this study is how the pattern of community communication in strengthening brotherhood in Samura Village, Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency. This study aims to determine how the communication patterns and communication strategies in strengthening the brotherhood among religious believers in Samura Village, Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency. The theories used in this research are communication, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, communication patterns, and symbolic interaction theory. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method. The subjects of this study were eight main informants and one additional informant consisting of two religious leaders, one village government, four general public and one additional informant. The technique of determining informants in this study used the snowball technique. The data analysis technique used is data presentation and conclusion drawing. This study shows that the relationship between religious believers in Samura Village, Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency has a harmonious relationship, whether it is Muslim or Christian. Communication patterns used are interactional patterns or reciprocal relationships in communicating. The strategy used to strengthen the brotherhood is that the community attends the events held, immediately resolves problems, participates in social activities in the village, often conducts interpersonal communication, speaks in a relaxed language, and instills tolerance in oneself.

Abstract

This research is entitled "The Representation of Male Image in Tokopedia X BTS Advertisement: Indonesian Shopping Time". The purpose of this study is to find out how the meaning of denotation and connotation contained in the advertisement and how the meaning of the image of men in the advertisement of Tokopedia X BTS: Indonesian Shopping Time is. The theory used in this research is Representation Theory. The object of this research is Tokopedia's video advertisement. This study uses Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method in which researchers can better understand the meaning of denotation, connotation, and the meaning of male images in Tokopedia advertisements through expressions, body language, clothing, and taking pictures from the Tokopedia advertising model. The findings from the research that has been done regarding the image of men in Tokopedia advertisements are that men are depicted with clean white faces, tall, and graceful. The end of the 1900s to the 2000s a new term emerged, namely the new masculinity. With this, it presents a unique and interesting blend that can open the world's eyes to the stereotypes about the masculine imagination that have been formed for a long time. Where men used to emphasize muscle, power, and disorganized style. Compared to today's men like Tokopedia's advertising models, the image displayed is friendly, stylish, unrelated to violence, and sensitive to the feelings around them.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of sub-district communication in improving employee discipline and performance at the Medan Labuhan District Office using the path-goal theory of leadership by Robert House. This research was conducted using qualitative methods. This research activity was conducted at the Medan Labuhan District Office. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the role of communication carried out by the sub-district head in improving the effectiveness and discipline of employees' work is as a leader. The coding of messages carried out by a sub-district head is usually in the form of establishing regulations, ethics, penalties, and provisions in the office and the discursive leadership of the Medan Labuhan sub-district as a leader who supervises several employees who work in the organization he leads, the sub-district head in carrying out his duties and obligations. must be able to work in accordance with the group or employees in the agency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the communication strategy of public services at the Medan Marelan District Office. This research uses communication theory, communication strategy, public service, and S-O-R theory. This research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive research design, including data collection, production of oral and written data, and direct data collection from the research location. The main and secondary data sources consist of eight informants. Interviews, observations, and documentation were used for data collection, while the data analysis procedures included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Researchers used triangulation of data, procedures, and time to validate the data. Based on the research results, the public service communication strategy is based on the communicator, communication message, communication media, and the intended audience. The public's reaction to the services provided by the Medan Marelan Village shows that the Medan Marelan Village provides excellent and comprehensive service to the community as service recipients, but indeed there are still a few problems with the timeliness of completing services, this is due to network disturbances or when the lights go out. . However, only one or two of these were found, the rest of the service officers have been very maximal in providing public services.

Abstract

Pesantren education in Indonesia faces challenges in integrating the development of spiritual, moral, and academic competence of santri in a balanced manner. Al-Ghazzali's Sufistic thought is considered relevant to strengthen pesantren education practices because it emphasises purification of the soul (tazkiyatun nafs), moral development (tarbiyatul akhlaq), and systematic dhikr practices. This study aims to analyse the influence of al-Ghazzali's Sufistic principles on pesantren education practices in Indonesia. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytic type to obtain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of Sufistic values in the context of pesantren education. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with kyai, ustaz, and santri; participatory observation of learning and worship activities; and documentation of curriculum and teaching records. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and triangulation to ensure the validity and consistency of the findings. The results show that the application of the tazkiyatun nafs principle encourages santri to conduct self-reflection, routine dhikr, and spiritual evaluation so as to increase self-awareness, discipline, and emotional control. The principle of tarbiyatul akhlaq through moral mentoring and social activities strengthens the character, empathy, and social responsibility of santri. The integration of al-Ghazzali's Sufistic values in the curriculum and daily activities creates a balance between intellectual and spiritual aspects, forming students who are spiritually mature, noble, and able to interact harmoniously in society. In conclusion, al-Ghazzali's Sufistic thought plays a significant role in improving the quality of pesantren education holistically. Future research is recommended to compare pesantren that apply Sufistic principles with those that do not, as well as examining the application of Sufistic.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how the construction of professional journalists applies the nine elements of journalism in the Korean drama Hush. The theory used to explore this research is the theory of media construction and the nine elements of journalism, and content analysis. The object of this research is the 16 episodes of the Korean drama Hush. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive paradigm. The analysis technique used is content analysis technique. The results of the study show that there is a construction of a professional journalist in the Korean drama Hush. The journalists constructed in the play correspond to the nine elements of journalists Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel, namely; seeking the truth (6 scenes), placing loyalty to citizens (6 scenes), Discipline in verifying (3 scenes), Independent from sources of coverage (5 scenes), Journalists carry out the task of monitoring power (1 scene), Journalism as a public forum (1 scene), Journalism must be attractive and relevant (2 scenes), proportional and comprehensive news (3 scenes), and listen to one's conscience (8 scenes).
