Abstract

Public organizations are increasingly required to implement integrity-based reforms to improve governance quality and employee commitment. This study examines the effect of integrity zone implementation on organizational commitment and the mediating role of transformational leadership. The research was conducted at an institution actively implementing the integrity zone program to achieve a corruption-free area and a clean and serving bureaucracy. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results indicate that the integrity zone does not have a significant direct effect on organizational commitment. However, integrity zone implementation significantly enhances transformational leadership, which in turn strengthens organizational commitment. These findings confirm that transformational leadership plays a mediating role in linking integrity zone implementation to organizational commitment. The study highlights the importance of leadership that upholds integrity values in translating organizational policies into employee commitment. This research contributes to the literature by emphasizing that the effectiveness of integrity-based reforms depends not only on formal policy implementation but also on leadership practices that internalize ethical values within organizations.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Human resources quality and job engagement are crucial to support high-pressure immigration services and ensure optimal, accountable public service delivery. This study examines whether environmentally ergonomic-based facility management and organizational culture influence job engagement among immigration office civil servants in the East Kalimantan-North Kalimantan region, and whether these effects operate through perceived quality of work life. Survey data from 397 civil servants were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling with bootstrapping to estimate both direct and mediated relationships among the constructs. The results show that environmentally ergonomic-based facility management and organizational culture significantly improve the quality of work life, while neither variable has a significant direct effect on job engagement. Quality of work life exerts a strong positive effect on job engagement and fully transmits the effects of both workplace factors to engagement, indicating that improvements in engagement occur primarily when employees experience safer and healthier conditions, stronger development opportunities, and better work-life balance. The study discusses these patterns as evidence that public sector engagement initiatives are most effective when ergonomic and cultural interventions are integrated with programs that explicitly strengthen employees’ quality of work life.

Abstract

Abstract

Employee well-being underpins performance, safety, and productivity, yet workplace mental health is often undervalued and stigmatized in Indonesian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study tested an integrated model in which supportive leadership relates to employee well-being directly and indirectly via employees’ engagement in mental health, with eHealth literacy examined as a boundary condition. Survey data were collected from 278 SME employees (purposive sampling) and analyzed using structural equation modeling. Engagement in mental health (β = 0.536, p < .001) and supportive leadership (β = 0.289, p < .001) were positively associated with employee well-being (R² = 0.485). eHealth literacy strengthened the supportive leadership–engagement link (β = 0.150, p < .001), but did not moderate the engagement–well-being association (β = 0.063, p = .152). Findings suggest that leadership support and affective–motivational engagement are central levers for workforce well-being in SMEs, while digital health competence enhances employees’ responsiveness to supportive leaders.
