Abstract

This study is a quantitative research employing the ex-post facto method conducted at MTsN Gowa, South Sulawesi. The research aims to analyze the influence of leadership and madrasah principal management on teachers’ work motivation. The study population consists of 53 individuals, including teachers, the school principal, staff, and administrative personnel. This research employs a saturated sampling technique, where the entire population is included as the sample. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The findings reveal that leadership and madrasah principal management do not have a significant influence on teachers’ work motivation at MTsN Gowa. These results suggest that other factors beyond leadership and management play a more dominant role in determining teachers’ work motivation. Nevertheless, effective leadership and sound management remain essential in creating a conducive work environment. Therefore, this study recommends that efforts to enhance teachers’ work motivation should consider other relevant factors and encourages further research to identify additional variables that significantly contribute to teachers’ motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms and dynamics of the democratization of learning at Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Sultan Hasanuddin Gowa from the perspectives of ethics and law, with the goal of fostering Islamic cultural behavior. The main focus is to explore how the democratization of education, within the framework of legal and ethical understanding, contributes to the formation of Islamic cultural values. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, the study collected data by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings reveal that ethical and legal standards regulate the relationships and interactions among students as well as between students and institutional administrators in order to create a peaceful, stable, and harmonious pesantren environment. Ethics guide students to act in accordance with accepted social and moral norms, while legal principles help prevent actions that may lead to legal consequences. Thus, ethics and law are two complementary components in shaping healthy and sustainable Islamic cultural behavior at Pesantren Sultan Hasanuddin Gowa. Cultural values can develop into ethical norms that may later be formalized into law. Islamic culture serves as the foundation of Islamic civilization, built upon key elements such as tauhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah SWT), akhlaq (morality and ethics), and knowledge. Islamic culture and civilization encompass aqidah (creed), sharia (Islamic law), and muamalah (social transactions), which together reinforce educational strength, ethical-legal principles, and social cultural order. Democratic learning enables students to internalize ethical values derived from Islamic teachings, i.e., values that have been deeply rooted and practiced throughout the history of Islamic civilization.

Abstract

Studying the history of Islam in Indonesia is an interesting topic of research and study. However, it is not easy to trace the history of the entry of Islam into the archipelago. There is a lot of literature discussing the history of Islam in Indonesia. However, some information about the history of Islam in Indonesia is still based on the literature of Western scholars. Of course, this information still raises questions and doubts among various parties, especially among Islamic historians. For this reason, this paper will discuss further the theory of the entry of Islam in Indonesia, the strategy of spreading Islam in Indonesia, and Islamic education in the early days in Aceh Darussalam. The results of this study indicate that the theory of the arrival of Islam in the archipelago is based on its place of origin, namely the Arabic theory, the Chinese theory, the Persian theory, the Indian theory and the Turkish theory. The spread of Islam in Indonesia was mostly carried out through trade, preaching, marriage, education, and the Islamization of culture. In Aceh, most of the ulama are graduates of Islamic boarding schools. Acehnese society is strongly influenced by religious institutions that function as social controllers. Religious institutions such as Islamic boarding schools are places of education to form noble morals. The values and attitudes of the Acehnese people reflect Islamic character in almost all aspects. Those who became militant clerics were born through dayah education, and they were able to lead the community towards religious deepening and the process of Islamization. At that time, the government institutions responsible for education and science in Aceh were Balai Seutia Hukama, Balai Seutia Ulama, and Balai Jamaah Himpunan Ulama.
