Design discharge is discharge with a certain return period which is used as a reference or parameter in a water building construction planning. Calculation of the design discharge can be done by using the synthetic unit hydrograph method. The calculation of the planned discharge using the Nakayasu and SCS-CN synthetic unit hydrographs aims to compare the calculation of the maximum discharge in the Pesung Watershed, Batam. The design discharge analysis was carried out without calibrating with AWLR data (observed flow) due to the unavailability of AWLR data at the study site. Thus, in this study using HDRO (high direct runoff) as a comparison. The purpose of this study is to estimate the magnitude of the design flood discharge in the Pesung Watershed, Batam City. The methods used in this calculation of the flood hydrograph is using an empirical formula, namely SCS Synthetic Unit Hydrograph and Nakayasu. The results of the HDRO calculation analysis show that the largest flood discharge occurs in the Nakayasu synthetic unit hydrograph method with details of the SCS synthetic unit hydrograph method, the peak time (Tp) is obtained at 4.46 hours, with a return period flood discharge of 5 – 50 reaching 215,488 – 584,308 m3/ s. Whereas in the Nakayasu synthetic unit hydrograph method, the peak time (Tp) is obtained at 1.47 hours, with a return period flood discharge of 5 – 50 years reaching 360.526 – 986.535 m³/s.

Drainage capacity is the ability of a channel to pass a certain amount of water or discharge through the drain. A study entitled Bibliometric Analysis of Drainage Channel Capacity Using Hec-Ras in Flood Disaster Management will map previous interrelated studies and make it easier for the author to conduct research. The method uses bibliometric analysis with the Publish or Perish 8.9 and Vos Viewer 1.6.19 software applications as visualization tools with an output of 2 file types, namely RIS and CSV. From the analysis, it can be found that there are 38 keywords with 3 clusters with the most research peaks in 2022. In addition, the most publishers identified in the IEEE publisher type as many 284, with the dominant type of publication being Journals-article.

Rapid urbanization in Batam City has transformed its landscape, reducing water absorption areas due to the conversion of green spaces into residential and commercial zones. This has increased surface runoff, contributing to a higher risk of flooding. This study employs a quantitative method with a survey approach and descriptive quantitative analysis of land-use and drainage system data. Spatial analysis was conducted to identify land-use changes and their impact on drainage networks. Batam's rapid economic development has brought positive benefits but also significant negative environmental impacts, as construction activities often disregard land-carrying capacity. Flooding is closely linked to urban expansion, population growth, and land demand for residential and economic purposes, which increases by 0.9% annually. The study reveals that surface water volume rises yearly due to diminished groundwater absorption capacity. To address this issue, it is recommended that the Batam City government establish stricter regulations on land use to mitigate future flood risks.

Sistem drainase memiliki peran krusial dalam mengelola air hujan dan mencegah banjir, terutama di kota berkembang seperti Kota Batam. Salah satu wilayah yang rentan terhadap banjir akibat curah hujan dengan intensitas sedang hingga tinggi adalah Jalan Pembangunan, Kecamatan Lubuk Baja, Kota Batam. Permasalahan ini disebabkan oleh kapasitas saluran drainase yang tidak mampu menampung debit air hujan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sistem drainase menggunakan perangkat lunak Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) serta mengidentifikasi peluang perbaikan yang dapat diterapkan. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari data primer dan sekunder, dengan curah hujan sebagai parameter utama dalam analisis kinerja sistem drainase. Berdasarkan analisis frekuensi, distribusi log normal digunakan untuk menghitung intensitas hujan. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa intensitas hujan di lokasi penelitian mencapai 107,74 mm/jam dengan debit puncak sebesar 48,75 m³/s. Penelitian ini menggunakan periode ulang 2 tahun, karena lokasi penelitian berada di kawasan perkotaan dengan luas daerah aliran mencapai 1,89 km². Hasil simulasi SWMM terhadap kapasitas saluran drainase menunjukkan bahwa saluran drainase eksisting di Jalan Pembangunan tidak mampu menampung debit air hujan dengan intensitas tinggi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan peningkatan kapasitas saluran drainase serta pemeliharaan yang berkelanjutan guna mengurangi risiko banjir di wilayah tersebut.

Tingginya curah hujan di Indonesia ini meningkatkan risiko terjadinya bencana alam di Indonesia seperti banjir, tanah longsor, kenaikan muka air pantai, angin puyuh dan sebagainya. Tidak hanya bencana alam, hal tersebut juga mengakibatkan banyak struktur bangunan rusak dan pengelolaan sumber daya air menjadi tidak sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Perhitungan dan perancangan menggunakan data hujan seharusnya membutuhkan kumpulan data yang sangat lengkap dan runtun. Keterbatasan terhadap kelengkapan, keakuratan data menjadi penyebab kesulitan untuk menganalisis suatu model hidrologi, maka dirasa perlu menggunakan data satelit (data hujan satelit) sebagai alternatif untuk pemodelan hidrologi. Data hujan satelit yang digunakan adalah data hujan satelit PERSIANN dan Jaxa GSMap yang dibandingkan dengan data hujan DAS Progo. Metode Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif penelitian survei dengan menggunakan data hujan lapangan di DAS Progo dan data hujan satelit dari masing-masing website satelit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh ketelitian tertinggi data hujan dari data grid yang ada di sekitar koordinat data hujan lapangan terhadap setiap grid dari data hujan satelit PERSIANN dan Jaxa GSMap. Penelitian ini menunjukkan data grid Utara (U) memiliki keakuratan paling baik dibandingkan grid lainnya. Hasil analisis penelitian ini dapat memberi gambaran bahwa dalam pengambilan data satelit sebaiknya menggunakan data hujan pada arah utara dari titik yang mau dianalisis.

This community service project aimed to support tourism development at Teluk Mata Ikan Beach, Batam, through the renovation of public toilet facilities. The previous condition was inadequate and affected visitor comfort. The project, carried out by a team from Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) in collaboration with PT Telin, involved site surveys, design planning, cost estimation, and construction. The result was a significantly improved facility that positively impacted visitor satisfaction and the image of the tourist area. This activity showcases collaboration between academia, industry, and the local community in addressing tourism infrastructure challenges.

Water treatment sludge (WTS) generated from water treatment plants (WTPs) contains organic matter (OM) that may be released during storage prior to the dewatering process due to the influence of temperature and oxygen. The release of OM from WTS can deteriorate the quality of treated water if the dewatering effluent is recycled back into the WTP system. This study aims to investigate changes in the quality of OM in WTS during storage under varying temperatures (20°C and 40°C) and oxygen conditions (oxic and anoxic). The characteristics of released OM were evaluated by measuring dissolved organic carbon (DOC), ultraviolet absorbance at 260 nm (UV260), and fluorescence Excitation-Emission Matrix (EEM). The Specific UV Absorbance (SUVA) parameter was also calculated to assess the aromatic content of OM. The highest DOC concentration (4.94 mg/L) was observed under anoxic conditions at 40°C, which was 4.3 times higher than the lowest value found under oxic conditions at 20°C (1.14 mg/L). The highest UV260 absorbance (13.55 m⁻¹) and SUVA value (2.74 m⁻¹/(mg/L)) were also found under the anoxic 40°C condition, indicating a dominance of aromatic and humic-like substances formed during storage. EEM fluorescence analysis detected three main peaks representing protein-like, fulvic acid-like, and humic acid-like substances. Fulvic and humic acid-like substances were released more abundantly under anoxic conditions compared to protein-like substances. Differences in oxygen and temperature conditions play a significant role in determining the characteristics of OM released from WTS.

Rivers are an important part of the ecosystems in several countries worldwide. They serve as a vital source of water for drinking, irrigation, and various other purposes. River pollution can lead to serious consequences for both the environment and human health. It can result in the death of aquatic life and render the water unsafe for human consumption. The research analysis was conducted using a literature review based on the factors influencing water resource pollution in river regions. The method used involved identifying the causal factors for scientific examination. The data was then processed using the Publish or Perish and VOS Viewer software. The results of the analysis regarding the number of factors affecting water resource pollution in river regions include the disposal of organic and non-organic waste, liquid waste, and Mandi, Cuci, Kakus (MCK) activities in the river areas. Overall, this systematic literature review provides a comprehensive overview of the factors and types of waste influencing water resource pollution in river regions. The study summarizes existing knowledge and research in this field, offering valuable insights and recommendations for practitioners and researchers involved in water resource pollution studies, especially in river regions. The Systematic Literature Review method presents an important overview of the factors influencing water resources in river regions. By comprehensively reviewing the literature, this journal identifies key factors causing water resource pollution in river environments and the challenges that need to be addressed for their effective implementation.

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini memberikan kontribusi teknis kepada PT. Family Developer Mandiri dalam perencanaan desain struktur kolom dan balok untuk proyek ruko 2 lantai di Batam. Dilaksanakan oleh tim dosen dan mahasiswa Teknik Sipil Universitas Internasional Batam, kegiatan ini mencakup observasi lapangan, analisis beban sesuai SNI, serta perhitungan manual untuk menentukan dimensi dan penulangan struktur. Hasil utama berupa dokumen desain teknis yang memenuhi standar SNI 2847:2019, rekomendasi konstruksi, dan artikel ilmiah. Kegiatan ini tidak hanya mendukung mitra industri tetapi juga memperkaya pengalaman belajar mahasiswa melalui penerapan langsung teori struktur beton. Implementasi ini merealisasikan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi sekaligus memperkuat kolaborasi akademisi-industri di bidang konstruksi.
