Abstract

Teknologi digital membuka ruang bagi mahasiswa menjalankan aktivitas jurnalistik. Ilmu jurnalistik dan bahasa berkaitan dengan public speaking mendorong mahasiswa PBSI menguji keterampilan berbahasanya. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui keefektifan BIGVU pada mata kuliah jurnalistik, sebagai media peningkatan keterampilan newscaster mahasiswa PBSI. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif, menggunakan pre-experimental designs, dalam bentuk one-goup pretest-postes design. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan projek penugasan dalam bentuk video. Adapun temuan penelitian (1) BIGVU meningkatkan keterampilan newscaster, dibuktikan dari pengingkatan hasi belajar, pada posttest sebesar 82,8, sedangkan pretest hanya sebesar 69,9. (2) BIGVU digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran jurnalistik meningkatkan keterampilan newscaster terbilang efektif, dibuktikan dari hasil perbandingan nilai t-hitung (9,6) lebih besar dari pada t-tabel (1,6736).

Abstract

Language is the most important component for a successful advertising products. This study aimed to analyze the language used of slogans in online advertisement which taken from halal beauty products based on the syntactic features. This study used descriptive qualitative as the research design and textual analysis was used to analyze the data. There were 61 data which were taken from the slogans of Wardah product advertisement. Based on the data analysis, it was found that there were short sentence (1 data), long-noun phrase (19 data), ambiguity (3 data), use of imperative (25 data), simple and colloquial language (1 data), use of present tense (1 data), syntactic parallelism (3 data), association (4 data), ellipsis (2 data), and incomplete sentence (2 data). The findings on the use of imperative became the most used feature in the slogans. The advertisement used imperative to persuade the consumers directly to follow the directions or instructions made in Wardah slogans.

Abstract

Program asistensi mengajar mengharuskan adanya aktivitas pembelajaran literasi yang dilakukan mahasiswa secara kolaboratif bersama dosen dan guru. Kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur dikarenakan kurangnya  membiasakan kegiatan literasi siswa yang mendukung aktivitas belajarnya. Kondisi ini ditinjau dari ketidakpahaman siswa dalam  menganaisis struktur umum teks, sehingga kesulitaan dalam membuat teks prosedur yang baik dan benar serta dapat dimanfaatkan oleh pembaca. Mengatasi masalah tersebut, diadakan sosialisasi yang bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan menulis teks prosedur menggunakan media literasi Food Truck. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini berlokasi di SMK Putra Anda Binjai, di mana terlaksananya program Asistensi Mengajar Satuan Pendidikan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah ceramah, diskusi, dan demonstrasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukan bahwa pembelajaran literasi Food Truck dapat dijadikan alternatif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks prosedur, hal ini menambah kreativitas siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur yang kreatif dan bermanfaat. Selama kegiatan siswa berperan aktif dalam sosialisasi literasi fun learning menggunakan media Food Truck dengan “sangat baik”. Keaktifan siswa diimplementasikan pemahaman pemesanan online, prosedur kerja, dan praktik membuat martabak manis sebagai pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan.Kata kunci: asistensi mengajar, food truck, literasi, fun learning, teks prosedur. Abstract

This study investigates the use of speech acts in customer service conversations on Shopee, focusing on problem resolution and consumer complaints. Through a library research approach, the study examines existing literature on pragmatics and speech act theory, analyzing how directives, commissives, and expressives are used in managing customer service interactions in ecommerce platform such as Shopee, Lazada and Tokopedia. By reviewing relevant studies on speech acts in digital communication and customer service contexts, this research identifies common patterns and strategies employed by customer service representatives to address complaints and ensure customer satisfaction. The findings provide theoretical insights into the role of speech acts type such as expressive, directive and representative in e-commerce communication, contributing to a deeper understanding of effective customer service practices in shopping online platforms.

Abstract

Development and management of websites (websites) depend on information technology. Websites are digital media that are used for various purposes, such as e-commerce, entertainment, communication, data and information. Companies, schools, colleges, and other organizations have widely used websites for a variety of purposes, including promotions, sales, education, data collection, and other activities that require information to be posted, sent, and received. Medan Tuntungan District, the data collection process for waste collection officers assigned to the District still uses Microsoft Office Excel, where each waste collection officer is assigned to a different location. Data collection on waste collection officers is the process of collecting, processing and recording information relating to individuals on duty or assigned to a sub-district in Medan Tuntungan District. Data collection on waste collection officers is important in maintaining accurate records and appropriate documentation regarding waste collection officers on duty in Medan Tuntungan District.

Abstract

When students are asked to write or read any English stories, then they need to learn about vocabulary as well. Writing skill challenges foreign students to be creative to create stories, while reading skill invites students to be good at comprehending the text. Recent studies have claimed in preference for the use of comic strips in language learning. The current study will go into detail about the use of comic strips as a learning medium, its advantages, and the effect to English learning at class. This literature review used George's (2008) model as a research method. The information was gathered from research articles about the use of comic strips in learning languages that were published in trustworthy international journals and recognized national journals. According to the review, prior research has shown that using comic strips in language learning can benefit students with their vocabulary, writing, and reading skills.

Abstract

This research purposed to design and develop an E-Module for English at workplace at Administrative Office in Besilam village. This research used Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model with five stages; Firstly was analyzing problems, potentials, and needs. Secondly was designing to determine Canva application used, the design/theme of the e-module, and the format. Thirdly is developing the design that has been previously made by using Canva application. In addition, at this stage, a validation test was conducted for the validators, namely material experts, linguists, and media experts to determine the feasibility of the E-Module that has been designed and developed. Fourthly is the implementation. In this stage, a practicality test and effectiveness test were administered to the staff and the instructor. Lastly was the evaluation. At this evaluation stage, the improvement of E-Module that has been given input by material experts, linguists, and media experts. Quantitative and qualitative data were used to collect the information. The research findings proved that the average score for eligibility assessment was 91.34%, the average score for practicality assessment was 95.01%, and the average score for effectiveness was 85. In conclusion, the eligibility assessment was classified as "Very Eligible", the practicality assessment was classified as "Very Practical", and the effectiveness assessment was classified as "Very Effective". E-module of English at workplace can be used as an alternative method to improve English proficiency to be better.

Abstract

Curriculum changes are a natural process in education. The introduction of a new curriculum serves to refresh, expand, and improve the current curriculum. Curriculum changes reflect the government's efforts in developing the education system. In 2022, there was another curriculum change, namely the Merdeka Curriculum. Merdeka Curriculum is a curriculum approach that prioritizes diverse content in extracurricular learning, which will provide more time for learners to understand concepts and strengthen their competencies. Teachers also have the freedom to choose various teaching aids, so that learning can be tailored to learners' learning needs and interests. Teachers' performance must be better, as they have not fully understood the Merdeka Curriculum. Based on the results of the research conducted, the implementation of the independent curriculum has been getting better and more intensive and has succeeded in making students more creative, enthusiastic, and have good character.
