Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of digital storytelling by using Islamic stories (such as: Ibrahim and the fire, Leyla the sparrow, Alqaswa, etc) in promoting English to young Islamic learners. Since storytelling is a popular local wisdom in Indonesia and now, it develops to another form which is digital storytelling. There were 13 teachers participated in this study at Al-Washliyah Kindergarten, Klambir V Kebun. The data were collected from the questionnaire that was given to the teachers and then were analyzed by using SPSS 22.0. The result of this study indicated that there was a significant effect of storytelling by using digital stories in Islamic-based content to promote English to young Islamic learners (TScore was higher than TTable = 8,535 2,179).Keywords: Digital Storytelling, Islamic-based Content

Abstract

Pemerolehan bahasa sebagai alat komunikasi sangat penting untuk di perhatikan. Pada anak balita bahasa telah dapat diajarkan atau dikenalkan agar balita dapat berinteraksi melalui komunikasi. Dari para ahli telah kita dengarkan bahwa manusia itu dapat mengenal suara mulai dari dalam kandungan. Hal ini ternyata bukan dimulai sejak anak itu bisa bicara dapat mengenal suara yang berasal yang merupakan bahasa. Dari sini dapat diketahui bahwa pemerolehan bahasa anak dapat dilakukan sejak dini bahkan sejak usia 0 tahun. Kegiatan yang dilakukan  merupakan kegiatan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat di lingkungan klinik Erni kecamatan Dwikora, yang mana targetnya adalah orangtua yang memiliki anak usia balita. Tujuan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) untuk memberikan sosialisasi cara dan metode dalam pengenalan kosakata Bahasa Inggris sederhana secara mandiri kepada anak usia balita oleh orangtua di rumah. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan mensosialisasikan metode secara langsung dengan cara mencontohkan cara mengenalkan bahasa kepada anak balita baik yang sudah bisa berbicara maupun yang belum mampu berbicara di lingkungan kecamatan Dwikora, bertepatan di klinik Erni. Hasil dari kegaitan ini  meningkatkan pengetahuan orang tua dalam mengajarkan kosakata bahasa inggris pada anak secara dini Para orang tua yang mengikuti kegitan ini terlihat antusias, terlihat dari komunikasi dua arah yang berlangsung aktif, Kata kunci: Kosakata Bahasa Inggris, Balita, Orangtua

Abstract

Pada Perkembangan ilmu komputer saat ini, yang mayoritas kebutuhan manusia berbasis digitalisasi dan bisa diatur menggunakan teknologi. Penggunaan teknologi selalu berdampak pada perkembangan masyarakat karena teknologi selalu terupdate, bervariasi dan feksibel sehingga dapat digunakan dengan mudah. sekarang ini ilmu komputer atau teknologi dapat memberikan dampak negatif bagi masyarakat. Dikarenakan masih banyak masyarakat yang belum mengetahui  tentang perkembangan ilmu komputer yang berkaitan dengan teknologi di era modern saat ini. Tujuan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan kontribusi serta meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat dalam mengatasi permasalahan tentang perkembangan ilmu komputer saat ini.  Dengan adanya perkembangan ilmu komputer saat ini diharapkan dapat memberi manfaat bagi masyarakat, yang mana masyarakat sei tuan harus mampu mengetahui perkembangan ilmu komputer dan dapat mengoperasikan perangkat lunak komputer. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masayarakat adalah melaksanakan pengabdian. Sasaran dan pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah masyarakat Desa Sei Rotan.

Abstract

Language is the most important component for a successful advertising products. This study aimed to analyze the language used of slogans in online advertisement which taken from halal beauty products based on the syntactic features. This study used descriptive qualitative as the research design and textual analysis was used to analyze the data. There were 61 data which were taken from the slogans of Wardah product advertisement. Based on the data analysis, it was found that there were short sentence (1 data), long-noun phrase (19 data), ambiguity (3 data), use of imperative (25 data), simple and colloquial language (1 data), use of present tense (1 data), syntactic parallelism (3 data), association (4 data), ellipsis (2 data), and incomplete sentence (2 data). The findings on the use of imperative became the most used feature in the slogans. The advertisement used imperative to persuade the consumers directly to follow the directions or instructions made in Wardah slogans.

Abstract

Applying encryption to databases is a crucial step in maintaining data security, especially in applications that handle sensitive information such as the employee recruitment process. This research aims to implement the Rail Fence Least algorithm in database encryption in a web-based new employee recruitment application at PT. Mukti Mandiri Lestari. The Rail Fence Least algorithm was chosen because it has advantages in terms of speed and efficiency of data encryption and decryption. The implementation of this algorithm is expected to increase the security of prospective employee data from potential unauthorized access and misuse of information. Test results show that this algorithm is effective in securing data without significantly compromising application performance. Thus, implementing the Rail Fence Least algorithm is the right solution to improve database security in new employee recruitment applications at PT. Mukti Mandiri Lestari.

Abstract

This study explored the perceptions and challenges faced by senior high school students in utilizing web-based platforms for English language learning. Employing a literature review methodology, the study synthesized findings from recent studies to analyze the effectiveness, user experiences, and obstacles associated with digital learning tools in the context of language education. The study highlighted students' positive attitudes towards the accessibility and interactive features of web-based platforms while identifying challenges such as technical difficulties, limited digital literacy, and motivational issues. The review also examined the pedagogical implications of integrating web-based platforms into traditional learning environments, emphasizing the need for teacher training and support mechanisms to maximize learning outcomes. By providing a comprehensive overview of existing research, this study aimed to contribute to the discourse on leveraging technology for language learning in senior high schools and offers insights for future research and policy development.

Abstract

The focus of linguistic research has been shift in the past five years from face to face communication to online communication. This research employed content analysis on a number of articles that had been published in linguistics journals across Indonesia since 2020 to 2024, with linguistic aspect in social media as the main focus of the research. This current research has revealed that in the past five years, the number of publications used social media as their data source had improved. Among those publications, the most dominant research designed was qualitative descriptive. In addition, content analysis is the most dominant method to analyze the data. Instagram is the most frequently platform used as data resources in linguistic research. Researchers are particularly interested to investigate pragmatic aspects towards the online communication in social media. Based on the findings, future research is encouraged to use more diverse research designs, expand the scope of linguistic domains, and explore new platforms such as threads to better capture evolving digital language trends. Researchers are also advised to continuously adapt their methods and analyses to the dynamic nature of online communication in Indonesia.

Abstract

When students are asked to write or read any English stories, then they need to learn about vocabulary as well. Writing skill challenges foreign students to be creative to create stories, while reading skill invites students to be good at comprehending the text. Recent studies have claimed in preference for the use of comic strips in language learning. The current study will go into detail about the use of comic strips as a learning medium, its advantages, and the effect to English learning at class. This literature review used George's (2008) model as a research method. The information was gathered from research articles about the use of comic strips in learning languages that were published in trustworthy international journals and recognized national journals. According to the review, prior research has shown that using comic strips in language learning can benefit students with their vocabulary, writing, and reading skills.

Abstract

This research purposed to design and develop an E-Module for English at workplace at Administrative Office in Besilam village. This research used Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model with five stages; Firstly was analyzing problems, potentials, and needs. Secondly was designing to determine Canva application used, the design/theme of the e-module, and the format. Thirdly is developing the design that has been previously made by using Canva application. In addition, at this stage, a validation test was conducted for the validators, namely material experts, linguists, and media experts to determine the feasibility of the E-Module that has been designed and developed. Fourthly is the implementation. In this stage, a practicality test and effectiveness test were administered to the staff and the instructor. Lastly was the evaluation. At this evaluation stage, the improvement of E-Module that has been given input by material experts, linguists, and media experts. Quantitative and qualitative data were used to collect the information. The research findings proved that the average score for eligibility assessment was 91.34%, the average score for practicality assessment was 95.01%, and the average score for effectiveness was 85. In conclusion, the eligibility assessment was classified as "Very Eligible", the practicality assessment was classified as "Very Practical", and the effectiveness assessment was classified as "Very Effective". E-module of English at workplace can be used as an alternative method to improve English proficiency to be better.

Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive overview of attitude appraisal within the context of narrative and recount texts. The study investigated to use attitude as components of evaluation through language usage in students' recount and narrative text. In this study, qualitative research techniques based on library research were applied. Data collection used documentation methods that were adapted from library sources. Data analysis employs content analysis approaches, where each source or piece of literature is modified and the context's applicability is assessed in light of literature from other books, journals, or studies. Ultimately, the findings emphasize the significance of attitude appraisal in narrative and recount texts, offering insights into the nuanced ways it shapes and enhances the reader's interpretative journey. Taken from four previous studies which had on Appraisal analysis, all data found the use of affect mostly in students’ writing in narrative and recount text. Reaching 50% among the other two types, judgment and appreciation, affect is one of the type of attitude in appraisal showing the way of writer in giving positive or negative feeling and emotion based on what they experienced.
