Abstract

Anxiety was the feeling of being afraid without any reason to be so. FIS was a measurement scale of anxiety levels in children consisting of five lines of facial expression. Anxiety at retraction was caused by the use of sharp objects such as needles. The act of filling when drilling often makes the child very afraid. Whether there was a difference between the anxiety level and the facial image scale (FIS) in children who will face the extraction and filling action. This was an observational study with a cross-sectional survey study. The population of this study was all children receiving services for the extraction and filling treatment. The sample was 60 respondents. The instruments were an anxiety level questionnaire, a measurement sheet with FIS, and a mobile phone camera. Data analysis used the Mann- Whitney test. The level of anxiety in children who will face the filling treatment was in no anxiety criteria with 24 respondents and FIS in children who will face the extraction treatment was the anxious criteria with 26 respondents. Mann- Whitney test results of anxiety level obtained Asymp.Sig 0,545 > 0,05 and FIS value obtained Asymp.Sig 0,321 < 0,05. It can be concluded that there was no significant difference between anxiety levels and FIS in children who will face tooth extraction and filling treatment.

Abstract

Dental and oral health care is carried out from an early age. Lack of knowledge level of students in brushing teeth makes teeth easily damaged. A flipchart needed for counselling to increase knowledge in brushing teeth for elementary students. Objectives: To find out the influence dental and oral health education using flipchart for students at primary school Remaja Parakan based on their knowledge level at teeth brushing The design of this study was quasi-experimental with a non- randomized control group pretest posttest design. The number of respondents was 80 students. The sample was divided into 40 respondents in the experimental group and 40 respondents in the control group. The data is obtained through a questionnaire. Data analysis using the Wilcox- on Signed Rank Test to find out repeated tests on two conditions and Mann Whitney Test to find out differences between two group. The knowledge level of the pretest experimental group was 90% in the wrong category. After the intervention, the knowledge level of the post-test increased to 85% in the first category. The knowledge level of the pretest of the control group was 55% in the medium grade, after intervention the knowledge level of the post-test increased to 5% in the excellent category and 95% in the medium category, with pretest and posttest analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showing both groups had significant differences with a value of p = 0.00 (p <0.05). Mann Whitney analysis shows the mean rank of the experimental group > control group, which is 59.03> 21.98. The knowledge level of teeth brushing after being given ed- ucation with flipchart media in elementary school students is increasing

Abstract

Dental And Oral Health Care Service Model Based On Appropriate Technology in The Orphanage Community. Residents of orphanages are school-age children in groups who are prone to tooth decay and whose rights and needs are no different from other children their age. Appropriate technology assistance (TTG) is needed to overcome dental and oral health problems in orphanage children. The general objective of this research is to produce a feasible model of appropriate technology-based dental and oral health care (TTG) services and their effective application to improve dental and oral health in orphanage children. The method in this study uses the R&D (Research and Development) method with Pre- Experimental Pretest and Posttest Design research design. Respondents numbered 20 dental health cadres to assess behavior (knowledge, attitudes, actions) and 150 orphanage children (OHI-S; DMF-T). Expert validation test of dental and oral health care service modules based on appropriate technology (TTG) amounted to 67.60% real. Knowledge assessments and actions improved significantly after treatment (p=<0.001, p=0.004, respectively). Attitude assessment did not increase compared to the previous (p = 0.005). The behavior of dental health cadres did not affect OHIS and DMFT (p=0.62, p=0.20, respectively). It can be concluded that the appropriate technology-based dental and oral health care (TTG) service model provides a significant increase in the knowledge and actions of dental health cadres but does not improve attitudes, OHIS, and DMFT.
