Abstract

Learning a language provides some aspects such as speaking, writing, reading and listening. This research is to know the different students’ mean score studying by using peer tutoring and teacher tutoring in learning speaking. Experimental research is used This research. The subjects of the research are VIII grade students of junior high school Sunan Santri Babat Lamongan. The sample in the research is 40 students providing 20 students of VIII B as the experimental groupand 20 students of VIII A as the control group. The research instruments consist of pre- test, and post-test. In the research findings, it is concluded that the use of peer tutoring is more effective for learning speaking than teacher tutoring. The researcher gives suggestions that peer tutoring is effective in teaching speaking because students can improve their ability and share with the groups. For the next researcher, it is suggested to carry out a research in the same study but in other places and subjects of the study

Abstract

In this modern era, learning English is a must for every human. therefore, learning English at early level is better done. This time, it is determined that English subjects in elementary schools are local content group subjects whose status is as elective subjects, so the material is determined by each school. This research was using Qualitative descriptive. It is about An Analysis English Curriculum Development at SDNU Banat Banin lamongan. The Subject of the research was the teacher and the 5-grade at SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan in the academic year of 2019/2020. There are 30 students. The finding of the research, the curriculum applied at SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan was the 2013 curriculum and the researcher found four aspects that are done by SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan as curriculum development in learning English starting from the purpose of curriculum development, learning material, learning methods, and learning evaluation and the material presented in fifth grade in SDNU Banat Banin Lamongan is grammar, translating text, making sentences, and knowing the difference in the meaning of a word and once every week on Wednesday there is a habit of Speaking English .

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to know the students’ psychological problems, and to know the efforts of the students to overcome their psychological problems. The research was conducted in SMKN 1 Lamongan at OTKP. The research is qualitative research. It used an observation and a semi-structured interview as a technique to collect the data. Based on the research, the researcher found that the students felt anxious, shy, fear of making mistakes and the students also got a lack of confidence when they were speaking in front of the class. The efforts to overcome their psychological problems were as follows. The students should have the self-confidence to speak, the student should master many vocabularies, and more practices speaking in English, the teacher should give motivation to the students and encourage a habit and accustom the students to use English. Keywords: Speaking, psychological problems

Abstract

The study aimed to find out the correlation between students' speaking ability and their tenses mastery. This study was conducted at Abu Huroiroh Dormitory Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School. This study employed correlational method. The population of this study was 146 students and the sample was 30 students of Abu Huroiroh Dormitory. The samples were picked randomly using random sampling method. There were two instruments in this study, oral test and tenses test. The oral test was used to find out the students’ grammar and fluency. Meanwhile, the tenses test was used to find out the students’ mastery in simple present, simple past, and simple future. This study found out that the mean score of students' speaking ability was categorized as fair (62) while the mean score of the students' tenses mastery was categorized as poor (44). The correlation rate from both variable (rxy) was 0,683 and it was categorized in 'substantial' level. also, the rxy (0,683) was bigger than r table (0,374). it could be concluded that there was positive and significance correlation between students' speaking ability and their tenses mastery.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop learning materials for the precise understanding of Basic Grammar in English, in the form of a Pocket Book, specifically designed for eighth-grade students at MTs Bustanul Ulum, Glagah, Lamongan. The research employed a developmental research approach, consisting of ten stages: Need Survey, product design, design validation, design revision, try out 1, product revision, try out 2, product revision, and final product. The developed product underwent review by a supervisor, Media Expert, and Material Expert, and was evaluated by 15 students from MTs Bustanul Ulum. The research instruments included a questionnaire for the Validators, a questionnaire for student feedback, and an interview guide for the teacher to analyze the students' results. The students' responses were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods, with the quantitative analysis used for calculating the results and the qualitative analysis employed for interviews, critiques, and suggestions. The findings indicated that the students required a supportive book for learning English with simple explanations and comprehensibility. The outcome of this study was the creation of a Basic English Grammar Pocket Book. The researcher suggests that this product can be utilized in the learning process for an extended period as it facilitates easy studying and allows students to carry the book everywhere they go.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of using English translated Manhwa on the students‟ literacy at junior high school. It was experimental research. The sample of this research was third grade students of Junior High School in SMP NEGERI 1 Kepohbaru, Bojonegoro in the academic year 2023/2024 with the total 48 students. Two groups were divides by total sampling. The first group was experimental group which was given treatment by English translated Manhwa and second group was control group which was not given treatment by using English translated Manhwa. The instrument of collecting data was a test consisted of 10 multiple items and 10 essay items. Each group was given a pretest and post-test. After the data had been collected, then the data was analysed by using SPSS. There was a significant effect of Using English translated Manhwa to the students‟ literacy. The conclusion from the data analysis is the value of t-test (0.133) is higher than the t-table (0.05). The result showed that H1 was accepted. Based on the result of this research, it was concluded that there was a significant effect of using English translated Manhwa on the students‟ literacy both reading and writing.

Abstract

Mastering vocabulary is a fundamental step in learning a foreign language. This study investigates the Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) is teaching method in improving vocabulary mastery among eighth-grade students at SMPI Tanfirul Ghoyyi. The research problem addressed is: How does the Whole Brain Teaching method improve students' vocabulary mastery at the junior high school level? The objective of this study is to explore how the application of WBT can enhance students’ vocabulary acquisition. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles. The data were collected through vocabulary tests and observation checklists. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students' performance, where the percentage of students who met the minimum score criteria increased from 41.17% in Cycle I to 82.35% in Cycle II. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the Whole Brain Teaching method effectively improves vocabulary mastery. The key teaching steps applied included Class-Yes, Five Classroom Rules, Teach-Okay, Scoreboard, Hands and Eyes, Switch, and Mirror. This study suggests that WBT can be a practical and engaging strategy to enhance vocabulary learning at the junior high school level, and it is recommended for future researchers to adopt or adapt this method as a reference in similar contexts.
