Abstract

Gelatin is a type of converted protein obtained through the hydrolysis process of collagen from animal skin, bones and white fibrous tissue. The main raw materials used in gelatin production are beef bones, cow skin and pork skin. The bones of tuna fish (Euthynnus affinis) can be used as a source of gelatin. This research aims to isolate gelatin from E. affinis fish bones using acetic acid as a hydrolyzate and to characterize the amino acid content using High Performance Liquid Chromatography. E. affinis bone gelatin is brownish yellow with a yield of 12.2%, water content 10%, ash content 1.03%, pH 4.33, and viscosity 3.44 cP and strength of 67.54 g. bloom. E. affinis bone gelatin contains 77.7 amino acids consisting of proline 8.76%, glycine 23, 5% and tryptophan 0.01% which is a typical amino acid of collagen.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the limus extract skin lotion (Mangifera foetida Lour) has activity against mosquitoes against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This research includes making simplicia, limus fruit extract, phytochemical screening; lotion extract formulation; physical lotion preparation evaluation; and testing of repellent activity in lotio preparations. The concentrations of the extracts tested for their activity as mosquito repellents were 5% and 10% w/v. The results showed that the rind extract of limus (Mangifera foetida Lour) could be formulated into mosquito repellent lotion at concentrations of 5 and 10% which had an evaluation of preparations that met the requirements, namely organoleptic, homogeneity, dispersibility and pH. Lotion of limus peel extract (Mangifera foetida Lour) at concentrations of 5 and 10% has activity against mosquitoes against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes with protection power reaching 100% at 2 hours for lotion with a concentration of 5% and lotion with a concentration of 10% providing more than 90% protectionie at 0, 2 to 3 hours in each replication with an average protection power of 100%. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas anti nyamuk dari lotion ekstrak kulit buah limus (Mangifera foetida Lour) terhadap nyamuk Aedes aegypti. Penelitian ini meliputi pembuatan simplisia, ekstrak kulit buah limus, skrining fitokimia; formulasi lotion ekstrak; evaluasi sediaan lotion dari segi fisik; serta pengujian aktivitas antinyamuk dalam sediaan lotion. Konsentrasi ekstrak yang diuji aktivitasnya sebagai antinyamuk adalah 5% dan 10% b/v. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kulit buah limus (Mangifera foetida Lour) dapat diformulasi menjadi lotion antinyamuk pada konsentrasi 5 dan 10% yang memiliki evaluasi sediaan yang memenuhi persyaratan yaitu organoleptik, homogenitas, daya sebar dan pH. Lotion ekstrak kulit buah limus (Mangifera foetida Lour) pada konsentrasi 5 dan 10% memiliki aktivitas antinyamuk terhadap nyamuk Aedes aegypti dengan daya proteksi mencapai 100% pada jam ke-2 untuk lotion konsentrasi 5% dan lotion konsentrasi 10% memberikan proteksi lebih dari 90% yaitu pada jam ke-0, 2 sampai jam ke-3 di setiap replikasi dengan rerata daya proteksi yaitu 100%.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is closely related to cardiovascular disease, which can increase the risk of atherosclerosis. Oxidative stress is related to the development of atherosclerosis because it is related to cellular responses triggered by an imbalance between oxidants and reductants in various layers of blood vessel tissue. K. anthotheca has pharmacological benefits as an antileishmaniasis and antimalarial. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant and anticholesterol activity of K. anthotheca bark based on the type of solvent and to determine the phenolic and flavonoid content of the most active extract. The results indicated that ethyl acetate extract had the best antioxidant activity compared to n-hexane and ethanol extracts, with an IC50 value of 47.82 ppm, followed by ethanol extract at 48.46 ppm and n-hexane extract at 101.89. The value of antioxidant activity is directly proportional to the anticholesterol activity, where the ethyl acetate extract has an EC50 value of 20.42 ppm, the ethanol extract 445.58 ppm, and the n-hexane extract 1,073 ppm. The ethyl acetate extract has a phenolic content of 229.765 mgGAE/g extract and a flavonoid content of 7.63 mgQE/g.

Abstract

Sabun terbentuk melalui reaksi antara asam lemak dan basa kuat, dan umumnya digunakan sebagai pembersih untuk menghilangkan kotoran pada kulit. Salah satu jenis sabun yang diminati pada saat ini oleh masyarakat yaitu sabun cair. Hal ini dikarenakan penggunaannya yang lebih praktis dan efisien. SMA Presiden 2 Tanjung Lesung merupakan sekolah umum semi militer yang memiliki 2 bidang ilmu yaitu IPA dan IPS. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada siswa/i SMA Presiden 2 Tanjung Lesung tentang pengaplikasian ilmu dan tekonologi dalam menghasilkan sabun mandi. Metode kegiatan yang dilakukan berupa pemaparan materi dan pelatihan pembuatan sabun cair dengan campuran ekstrak daun sisik naga (bahan alam) serta memberikan kuisioner berupa pretest dan postest untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya kepada siswa/i. Hasilnya didapatkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) dari nilai rata-rata prestest 70,23 menjadi 86,28 untuk nilai posttest. Soap is formed through a reaction between fatty acids and a strong base and is commonly used as a cleanser to remove dirt from the skin. One type of soap that is currently popular among the public is liquid soap due to its practical and efficient use. SMA Presiden 2 Tanjung Lesung is a semi-military public school that offers two fields of study: Science and Social Studies. This activity aims to provide knowledge and skills to the students of SMA Presiden 2 Tanjung Lesung on the application of science and technology in producing bath soap. The methods used in this activity include material presentation, hands-on training in making liquid soap with dragon scale leaf extract (a natural ingredient), and pretest and post-test to measure the impact. The results showed an increase in knowledge from this community service activity, with the average pretest score rising from 70.23 to an average post-test score of 86.28.
