Abstract

The research aims to develop Interactive Digital Textbooks for Geography concept understanding on the topic of the Environment by adopting R&D (Research and Development) method. The design of Interactive Digital Textbooks was validated by three validators, namely two validators for content and one validator for the media. To find the effectiveness of the Interactive Digital Textbooks, an experiment with randomized control group pretest–posttest design was employed. Meanwhile, the research subjects for the product testing were the eleventh grade students of UPI (Indonesia University of Education) Laboratory Senior High School.  Based on empirical test, it is found that there was a difference in experimental class students’ scores before and after treatment with Interactive Digital Textbooks I and II. The difference was evidenced in the increased average score after the treatment. It is also found that there was a difference in control class students’ test results before and after treatment with conventional Textbooks I and II. The difference is showed by increased average score after treatment. Furthermore, there was a difference in concept understanding between experimental class students who used Interactive Digital Textbooks I and II and those of the control class treated with Textbooks I and II. The difference suggests that there was improvement in the concept understanding of both experimental and control class students. Hence, the developed Interactive Digital Textbooks had influence on students’ concept understanding in Geography subject.Keywords: interactive digital textbooks, concept understanding.

Abstract

Antioxidant is a substance that inhibits oxidation or reactions promoted by oxygen, peroxides, or free radicals. Antioxidants are also commonly added to food products such as vegetable oils and prepared foods to prevent or delay their deterioration from the action of air. Antioxidants may possibly reduce the risks of cancer.  This study aimed to determine the antioxidant activities of rhizome of Laja Gowah (Alpinia malaccensis (Burm, F.) Roxb.) by using DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl) methods. Laja Gowah (Alpinia malaccensis (Burm, F.) Roxb. ) is classified into family of Zingiberaceae. Extraction is done by maceration with methanol solvent and fractionation by using a funnel with a solvent which has different levels of polarity, namely the n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Qualitative analysis is measured by thin layer chromatography for fraction methanol, n-hexane and ethyl acetate. All fraction showed the presence of flavonoids and terpenoids which is marked by appearing yellow and purple spots after reacting by H2SO4 10%. Determination of antioxidant activities from the each fraction showed that all fractions have potential function as an antioxidant with LC50 values. Fraction of n-hexane showed 72.03 ppm, fraction of ethyl acetate showed 96.31 ppm, and fraction of methanol showed 194.43 ppm. For comparison, ascorbic acid has antioxidant activities with IC50 values as many as 2.23 ppm.Keywords: Alpinia malaccensis; antioxidant; 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl

Abstract

PEMBUATAN KOMPOSIT POLIKAPROLAKTON-KITOSAN-HIDROKSIAPATIT IRADIASI UNTUK APLIKASI BIOMATERIAL. Biokompatibel komposit polikaprolakton-kitosan-hidroksiapatit dengan berbagai komposisi telah dibuat menggunakan pelarut asam asetat glasial dan menggunakan metode film casting pada suhu kamar. Dilakukan proses iradiasi dengan mesin berkas elektron pada dosis 10-50 kGy. Membran komposit tersebut diuji kemampuannya untuk mengabsorpsi air, uji sifat mekanik, identifikasi gugus fungsi dengan fourier transform infra red spectroscopy (FTIR) dan analisa pola difraksi dengan x-ray diffraction (XRD). Uji absorpsi air menunjukkan peningkatan seiring dengan bertambahnya konsentrasi kitosan dan hidroksiapatit karena sifat hidrofilisitas dari keduanya. Uji sifat mekanik menunjukkan kenaikan nilai kekuatan tarik maksimum dan penurunan elongasi seiring dengan kenaikan dosis iradiasi. Pita serapan FTIR dari membran komposit I - IV menunjukkan gabungan puncak-puncak yang khas dari bahan penyusunnya. Analisa pola difraksi dengan XRD menunjukkan tidak teramatinya perubahan struktur kristal pada membran komposit. Penelitian ini menghasilkan komposisi membran yang prospektif untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut sebagai bahan biomaterial untuk aplikasi klinis. AbstractBiocompatible polycaprolactone-chitosan-hydroxyapatite composite with various composition were preparedusing glacial acetic acid solvent and film casting method at room temperature. Irradiation process was doneusing electron beam machine at the dose of 10-50 kGy. These membranes were investigated for its ability toabsorp water, mechanical properties, identification of functional group with fourier transform infra redspectroscopy (FTIR) and diffraction pattern analysis with x-ray diffraction (XRD). Water absorptionincreased with the increasing of chitosan and hydroxyapatite because of their hidrophilicity. Mechanicalproperties test shows the increased of tensile strength and decreased of elongation as the irradiation dose rises.FTIR absorbed bands composite membrane I to IV shows association of specific peaks of polycaprolactone,chitosan and hydroxyapatite. Diffraction pattern analysis by using XRD shows unchanged of crystalstructures in composite membranes. The results of this study show the composition of membranes isprospective for the further development of biomaterial for clinical application.

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this study was to examine the effect of booklet towards achievement and responses of students of SMPN 23 Ponttianak concerning topics such as elements, compounds, and mixtures. The research was carried out using nonequvalent control group design. To this test and queshionarie were used as data collections tools. the participative of this study were students at VII H grade as control and VII H as experimental group. This study began with giving a pretest to both groups. In order determine students knowledge. After a pretest was given, each group get a different treatment. Experimental group was taught with booklet. Meanwhile, control group was taught without booklet. To check student final knowledge, a posttest was given. According to U Mann Whitteny test, there wa a significant diference of achievement between students on both classes. According calculation the effect size is 0,95, which means interpreted with a high category. Student’s response towards of booklet obtained a strong average rate of approval around 86,1%. Keywords:  Achievement, Booklet, Students Responses

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji analisis faktor pemasaran media sosial (social media marketing) Instagram dan keputusan pembelian Nabati Wafer Indonesia melalui citra merek (brand awareness). Pada penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui faktor dari social media marketing Instagram yang memiliki pengaruh terhadap keputusan pembelian melalui brand awareness. Penelitian ini melibatkan responden yang merupakan pengikut Instagram Nabati Indonesia, adapun jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 100 responden. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu analisis jalur, dan didapatkan hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa variabel social media marketing memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap variabel brand awareness, sehingga penting untuk melakukan promosi pada media sosial untuk meningkatkan citra merek. Selain itu variabel brand awareness memiliki pengaruh terhadap keputusan pembelian, hal tersebut menjelaskan bahwa citra merek yang baik akan berdampak pada keputusan pembelian. Selanjutnya untuk variabel social media marketing Instagram memiliki pengaruh terhadap keputusan pembelian, serta berpengaruh juga secara tidak langsung terhadap keputusan pembelian melalui brand awareness. Hal tersebut menerangkan bahwa social media marketing dan brand awareness perlu selaras untuk dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan konsumen sehingga bermanfaat dalam pengambilan keputusan pembelian.

Abstract

The development of reading skills needs to be stimulated from an early age through various media, starting with symbols. The media used must be able to stimulate children's interest in reading. The results of observations that have been made in Kindergarten/ Raudhatul Athfal (RA) Al Falah Bogor, there is a low initial reading ability, which is characterized by the low ability of children to recognize letter symbols, syllables, and words. Most children cannot read their own names yet. The learning method used by the teacher has not varied, it is done conventionally, namely through writing written by the teacher on the blackboard. The purpose of this study was to improve early childhood reading skills through flashcard media in RA. Al-Falah Bogor. The methodology in this study is Classroom Action Research which is qualitative with data collection techniques carried out through observation, interviews, or interview and documentation to obtain the necessary data. shows an increase in the ability to read beginners who can achieve success criteria, namely the acquisition of an average percentage of more than 75%. In the Pre-Action stage, children's initial reading ability obtained an average percentage of 36.09% with poor criteria and increased to 52.30% with moderate criteria in Cycle I, and to 79.86% with high criteria in Cycle II. Results of this study indicate that flashcard media can improve beginner reading skills.

Abstract

Melanin is the main pigment thfunctions to protect the skin from exposure to ultraviolet light, excessive melanin synthesis can cause skin hyperpigmentation. A. bilimbi and B. macrophylla fruits have bioactive compounds such as phenolics, flavonoids that function as antioxidants and tyrosinase inhibitors. This study aims to formulate a gel preparation of a combination of fruit extracts of A. bilimbi and B. macrophylla, test antioxidant activity using the DPPH method, and test tyrosinase inhibition enzymes. Three formulas were made, namely F0 (Basis), FI (50x extract), and FII (100x extract). Physical evaluation includes organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, spreadability, viscosity, viscosity and irritation. Test of antioxidant activity and tyrosinase enzyme inhibition. Then the data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The results of the evaluation of homogeneous preparations, dispersion, pH, viscosity, mandatory, meet the standards. Adhesion below standard, irritation test (mild irritation). The results of IC50 antioxidants were F0 (2,352 ppm), FI (1,448 ppm), FII (419,74 ppm) and gel brand x (77,429 ppm). The results of the tyrosinase inhibition test were the highest concentration of 10% F0 (7.828%), a concentration of 10% FI (18.245%), a concentration of 10% FII (25.814) kojic acid gel (brand x) as a comparison with a concentration of 10% (51.211%). Abstract

Gelatin is a type of converted protein obtained through the hydrolysis process of collagen from animal skin, bones and white fibrous tissue. The main raw materials used in gelatin production are beef bones, cow skin and pork skin. The bones of tuna fish (Euthynnus affinis) can be used as a source of gelatin. This research aims to isolate gelatin from E. affinis fish bones using acetic acid as a hydrolyzate and to characterize the amino acid content using High Performance Liquid Chromatography. E. affinis bone gelatin is brownish yellow with a yield of 12.2%, water content 10%, ash content 1.03%, pH 4.33, and viscosity 3.44 cP and strength of 67.54 g. bloom. E. affinis bone gelatin contains 77.7 amino acids consisting of proline 8.76%, glycine 23, 5% and tryptophan 0.01% which is a typical amino acid of collagen.

Abstract

One way to ensure that efficacy and quality are guaranteed is that a product/medicinal ingredient quality standard needs to be met by standardizing the extract. Ceremai fruit (Phyllantus acidus) is thought to have elastase enzyme inhibitor activity because it contains vitamin C and flavonoids. The elastase enzyme functions in skin elasticity. This research aims to determine the standardization of ceremai fruit extract (P. acidus) and the inhibitory activity of the elastase enzyme. The sample was extracted using the maceration method using 70% solvent. Parameters in determining extract standardization are specific and non-specific. The inhibitory activity of the elastase enzyme was analyzed using the ELISA method. The results of determining the standardization of extract-specific parameters, the water-soluble essence content was 65.57%, and the ethanol-soluble essence content was 27.875. Non-specific parameters for determining water content 9.17%, determining total ash content 5.68%, determining acid insoluble ash content 1.5%, determining residual solvent 0.01%, determining microbial contamination ALT and AKK 10-1, heavy metal examination with undetectable results. Ceremai fruit extract (EBC) is positive for containing flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, steroids, and phenolic compounds. The elastase enzyme inhibitory activity of ceremai fruit extract (EBC) resulted in an average IC50 value of 281.09 ± 11,3µg/mL and retinol with an average IC50 value of 23.81 ± 0,4 µg/mL. This research concludes that based on standardization testing of specific and non-specific parameters, ceremai fruit extract meets raw material quality standards and ceremai fruit extract (EBC) has weak category elastase enzyme inhibitory activity.

Abstract

The impact of extraction methods on the potency of plant extracts is crucial. Bouea macrophylla Griff., a tropical fruit plant rich in phenolic and flavonoid compounds, exhibits strong antioxidant activity. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of maceration and soxhletation extraction techniques on B. macrophylla plants on antioxidant activity in vitro using the method of inhibiting DPPH radical compounds. Ethyl acetate and ethanol solvents were utilized to macerate and soxhlet all parts of the plant. Subsequently, each extract was subjected to quantitative analysis for antioxidant activity, total phenolic, and flavonoid content through UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Quantitative analysis revealed substantial antioxidant activity and notable levels of total phenolic and flavonoid content across all plant parts. The result indicated that although both maceration and soxhletation showed a significant impact on yield (p=0.009) and total flavonoids (p=0.038), significant differences in antioxidant activity (p=0.409) or total phenolics (p=0.874) within the plant extracts of B. macrophylla were not observed at a significance level of 5%.
