Abstract

Salah satu kegiatan pemerintah yang diselenggarakan dalam dunia pendidikan pada saat ini adalah program literasi dan numerasi. Untuk membantu mewujudkan tujuan pemerintah dalam kegiatan literasi dan numerasi, sebagai dosen yang wajib melakukan pengabdian kepada masyarakat melaksanakan kegiatan tersebut di tempat bimbingan belajar Exact media Center (EMC) Kota Padangsidimpuan. Adapun sasaran kegiatan PKM ini adalah siswa-siswi yang tergolong masih rendah kemampuan literasi dan numerasi dimulai yang dibagi dalam tiga kelompok sesuai dengan tingkatan kelas masing-masing. Tujuannya adalah untuk membangun dan mengembangkan minat belajar siswa terutama meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi para siswa bimbel EMC. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah dengan proses belajar mengajar, diskusi atau tanya jawab, dan tahap terakhir dilakukan evaluasi. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan PKM ini berjalan dengan baik serta memberikan dampak positif bagi siswa-siswi. Keberhasilan tersebut dapat dilihat dari peningkatan kemampuan siswa-siswi dalam mengenal abjad/huruf/angka, mengeja, membaca dengan lancar dan benar, menulis dengan benar, serta mengoperasikan bilangan dan menyelesaikan persoalan dalam bentuk matematis.

Abstract

This research was conducted at 6 Padangsidempuan Private High School in class X for the 2024-2025 academic year. The population of this research was 120 students consisting of 3 classes, while the number of samples used in this research was 34 students. The research method used in this research is classroom action research which consists of three stages, namely practicum, cycle I and cycle II. In obtaining research results, the data collection tool in research for variable Meanwhile, the assessment for variable y is writing a drama script, plot, setting, actions (actions), characterization and point of view. From the results of the research carried out, the pre-action results obtained with an average score of 72.90, after learning was carried out in cycle I, there was an increase in the average score to 70.91 and in the second cycle treatment the average score of 90, 41 students was obtained. class X 6 Padangsidempuan Private High School 2024-2025 Academic Year 93.62. So in testing the hypothesis it can be concluded that there is a significant increase in student learning in writing drama scripts through the hynoteaching learning model, so it can be concluded that the hypothesis can be accepted

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya literasi sains di kalangan siswa sekolah dasar, khususnya di SD Negeri 200405 Padangsidimpuan. Di tengah pesatnya perkembangan teknologi digital, pendekatan pembelajaran yang inovatif sangat dibutuhkan untuk meningkatkan minat dan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep-konsep sains. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan aplikasi Augmented Reality (AR) sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif guna meningkatkan literasi sains siswa. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi dan pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi AR kepada guru dan siswa, pendampingan dalam proses belajar berbasis AR, serta evaluasi ketercapaian pemahaman siswa terhadap materi sains. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan AR tidak hanya meningkatkan daya tarik pembelajaran, tetapi juga membantu siswa memahami materi yang sebelumnya sulit dipahami secara konvensional. Selain itu, guru memperoleh pengetahuan baru dalam memanfaatkan teknologi sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap proses belajar-mengajar dan diharapkan dapat menjadi model inovatif dalam pembelajaran sains di tingkat sekolah dasar.

Abstract

In this research is carried out in order to know about how far the effectiveness of using lyrical poem in improving students’ vocabulary at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat is. And in this research the writer applies the total random research. The number of sample in this research is consist of 36 students. The method used in this study was a quantitative method. In collecting the data, the writer administered pre-test, post-test and questionnaire which consists of 25 questions of pre & post-test and 8 question of questionnaire. After administering test and questionnaire to the sample of study, then the writer documented the students’ score. Then the writer calculated it with the score  using SPSS  v.22. In analyzing the data, the writer used SPSS v.22. After analyzing the data  in SPSS v.22, it has been got that the average mean before treatment (Pre-Test) is 53.22, the average mean after treatment (Post-Test) is 89.56, the average mean before treatment (Pre-Questionnaire) is 24.92 and  the average mean after treatment (Post-Questionnaire) is 30.44. After got the average mean, the writer  used SPSS v.22 again to analyze how far the improving students’ vocabulary, it has been got that percentage improving students’ vocabulary is 68.28%. It mean that There is a significant improvement of the students’ vocabulary at the eleventh grade students’ of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat. And the hypothesis of this research is accepted.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of using short stories to improve reading comprehension skills among Class VIII students at the Karya Sejahtera Padangsidimpuan Madrasah Tsanawiyah Education Foundation. The study involved 30 randomly selected students, and data was collected through both literature review and field research. A written test was administered as the data collection instrument. Statistical analysis was conducted to analyze the results. The findings revealed a significant increase in students' reading comprehension skills after the implementation of short stories. The average scores improved from 53 in the pre-test to 60 in posttest 1 and further to 90.87 in posttest 2. The percentage increase between pre-test and posttest 1 was 23.33%, while between pre-test and post-test 2 it was 70.3%. These results suggest that incorporating short stories in teaching can effectively enhance students' reading comprehension abilities. This research contributes to the body of knowledge on innovative teaching methods and their impact on educational outcomes, particularly in the context of Madrasah Tsanawiyah education.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of using Instagram as a tool to enhance students' descriptive writing skills at SMP Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan. Utilizing the Class Action Research (CAR) method, the research involved pre-tests, post-tests, and two cycles of intervention with 30 eighth-grade students. Initial findings indicated that students' writing skills were categorized as poor, with an average pre-test score of 59.83. Following the integration of Instagram in the instructional process, students' average scores improved significantly to 66.5 in Cycle 1 and 82.5 in Cycle 2. The overall improvement from pre-test to post-test 2 was 37.89%, with 83.33% of students meeting the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM). These results confirm the hypothesis that Instagram can significantly improve students' descriptive writing skills. The study suggests that incorporating social media in educational practices can enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. It also highlights the potential for further research on the use of digital tools in education to foster innovative teaching methods.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill in English language learning, yet many students continue to face challenges in understanding written texts. This study aims to improve students’ reading comprehension through the use of short stories as an instructional medium. The research was conducted at SMK Swasta Panca Dharma Padangsidimpuan using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, which consisted of two cycles involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The sample included 30 students from class X Akuntansi. Data were collected using pre-tests, post-tests, and classroom observations. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ reading comprehension. The average pre-test score was 43.67, increasing to 68.00 in post-test I, and reaching 80.00 in post-test II. The percentage of students achieving the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) increased from 20% to 83.33%. These findings indicate that the use of short stories can be an effective and engaging strategy to enhance reading comprehension in EFL classrooms.
