Abstract

the Convenience Sampling and Slovin formula, interviews 200 users of e-cigarettes in Bandung. This paper uses Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) with STATA 12. Total expenditure per month in electronic cigarettes, the price of electronic cigarette suction machine tools, motivation in using electronic cigarettes, the amount of electronic cigarettes liquid taste, knowledge about the risk of using electronic cigarettes, and the status dual user of conventional cigarettes and electronic cigarettes are has been used as variables in this research. The regression result shows that the price of electronic cigarettes, motivation to use electronic cigarettes, the amount of electronic cigarettes liquid taste are positively and significantly correlated with the total expenditure per month for electronic cigarettes in Bandung. In the other hand, knowledge about the risk of using electronic cigarettes not significantly reduces electronic cigarette expenditure. This study also finds that the status of dual users of electronic cigarettes and conventional cigarettes has a negative but not significant effect on electronic cigarette expenditure. To reduce the use of electronic cigarettes, the government needs to increase health campaigns regarding the dangers of electronic cigarettes.Even the government must bans the use of electronic cigarettes because knowledge about electronic cigarettes risk has insignificant effect to reduce consumption of electronic cigarettes.

Abstract

Unwillingness to seek healthcare has been observed in citizens from many countries during the Covid-19 pandemic. Previous studies show that the changes in behavior are due to various reasons such as economic slowdown, loss of health insurance due to termination of employment, and fear of contracting the virus. This behavior may result in worsened health conditions, making a individual more susceptible to the virus. The supply side of health care is one of the things that should be considered in the discussion about access to health care in developing countries. This paper investigates access to the healthcare problem of Indonesians, discusses both the supply side and demand side by looking at the change of behavior due to the patients’ fear of getting treatment during pandemic covid-19. We will serve this purpose through a small-scale survey and offer some insights from a statistical analysis perspective as well. Based on a survey from 588 respondents from the west Indonesia region, this study observes that the respondents’ health condition shows no significant change before and during the Covid-19 pandemic era. On the other hand, the respondents’ frequency of accessing outpatient healthcare proves to be significantly decreasing during the Covid-19 pandemic era, with 23,4% of the respondents stating that they avoid utilizing outpatient healthcare as an effort to avoid the Coronavirus. The frequency of using Kartu Indonesia Sehat to access outpatient healthcare also shows a significant decrease during this pandemic era.

Abstract

Research Originality: This study utilizes the expenditure approach as a measure of poverty and incorporates household-level factors to assess their impact on psychological and physical child abuse in Indonesia.Research Objectives: This study aims to analyze the impact of household characteristics, especially variations in poverty status on the risk of child abuse in Indonesia.Research Methods: This study uses Social Defense Module of the 2020 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) data and the logistic regression model.Empirical Results: The results showed that children in households living below the poverty line have the highest probability of experiencing psychological and physical abuse. Factors that also increase the likelihood of abuse are female-headed households, unemployment, low education levels, households with only boys and/or children aged 6-12 years, and living in rural areas.Implications: These findings highlight that child protection and abuse prevention policies should focus more on economic and social interventions, with poor households as the primary target.JEL Classification: D19, I31, I32, J13How to Cite:Rohadatul’aisy, N., Hardiawan, D., & Sihaloho, E. Abstract

This study examines the influence of Zakat, Infaq, and Alms (ZIS), corruption, and education on income inequality in Indonesia. Utilizing a quantitative approach with time-series data from 2011 to 2022, the research employs the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) framework to analyze both long-term and short-term dynamics. Findings indicate that ZIS and corruption exert a negative and significant impact on income inequality, whereas education shows a positive but insignificant effect. The study concludes that religious philanthropy and institutional integrity are pivotal in narrowing the economic gap. Policy implications suggest that the government should optimize zakat management systems and intensify anti-corruption measures to ensure more equitable income distribution. Additionally, strategic improvements in educational quality are essential to support sustainable and long-term economic equality.

Abstract

Income inequality remains a structural challenge in Indonesia’s economic development that has yet to be fully resolved. Islamic social finance instruments, particularly productive zakat and sharia financing for the MSME sector, are believed to play a role in reducing this disparity. This study aims to analyze the trend development of BAZNAS productive zakat and sharia financing for the MSME sector in relation to income inequality, as measured by the Gini Ratio in Indonesia during the period 2011-2025, using quarterly observations where available. The study employs a descriptive quantitative method with trend analysis based on secondary data obtained from BAZNAS financial reports, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The results show that BAZNAS productive zakat increased significantly from IDR 5.41 billion in 2011 to IDR 149.71 billion in 2025, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 26.8%. Meanwhile, sharia financing for the MSME sector increased from IDR 209.85 trillion at the end of 2011 to IDR 305.84 trillion in the first semester of 2025, with a CAGR of 2.84%. At the same time, the Gini Ratio showed a gradual downward trend from 0,410 in March 2011 to 0,375 in March 2025, although it experienced fluctuations due to COVID-19 pandemic during the 2020-2021 period. Descriptive trend analysis identifies a pattern of alignment between the growth of Islamic social finance instruments and the decline in income inequality. The findings indicate that productive zakat expanded at a substantially faster rate than MSME sharia financing, while both instruments displayed a trend broadly aligned with the gradual decline in income equality. However, this relationship cannot yet be directly interpreted as a causal relationship and still requires further empirical investigation.
