Abstract

The parang pisang tradition is an activity that falls into the category of ritual communication. In this tradition there is a meaning to commemorate the birth of discordant twins so it is believed that there will be no feelings of love for one another. The reseacrh aims to determine the meaning and symbols contained in the parang pisang tradition and the understanding of the younger generation in interpreting this tradition. In this research, information was obtained through 7 (seven) speakers who fit the research criteria. The method used in this research is a qualitative method using syimbolic interactional theory.The results of the study indicate that there are verbal dan non verbal symbols in the tradition of this parang pisang. Verbal symbols in the form of minang rhymes used in the process of communicating during the event. As for non verbal symbols, there are obejcts and equipment used where every object used contains meaning.Kayworld : Tradition, Ritual Communication, Parang Pisang, Nagari Surantih

Abstract

Instagram is one of the social media which is widely used by the public. They use the media not only to fill their free time, but also to reveal their previously hidden information. This study aims to find out how people reveal themselves through the Instagram story feature on social media of Instagram. This study uses descriptive qualitative research method with the theory of self-disclosure and the theory of Uses and Gratification as a theory in analyzing self-disclosure in Instagram story. Data collection techniques used were through interviews and documentation. The data were then analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion. The result showed that self-disclosure depends on the mood (mood) and tends to be due to the dyadic effect, and depends on the personality of an individual. The content of the message expressed in accordance with the needs and desires of an individual was also in accordance with the goals to be achieved based on the dimensions of the purpose of self-disclosure which are used as the unit of analysis in this study such as expression, self-cleaning, social control, and relationship development. to express feeling and self-development to gain self-awareness as social control, and to increase the intimacy of a relationship. Abstract

Komunikasi didalam organisasi mengalir secara vertikal yakni komunikasi dari atas kebawah dan dari bawah keatas dari pimpinan kebawahan dan sebaliknya secara timbal balik. Rumusan masalah penelitian bagaimana pengaruh komunikasi antar atasanbawahan terhadap motivasi kerja pegawai pada Badan Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Tebo, sedangkan tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh komunikasi atasan-bawahan terhadap motivasi kerja pegawai pada Badan Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Tebo. Penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif eksplantif dengan menggunakan metode survey. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah karyawan di lingkungan Badan Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Tebo sebanyak 250 orang dengan menggunakan simple random sampling dan menggunakan regresi linier sederhana dengan menggunakan ? sebesar 5%. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian statistik terhadap hipotesishipotesis penelitian diperoleh hasil bahwa komunikasi atasan bawahan mempunyai pengaruh positif terhadap motivasi kerja pegawai Badan Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Tebo kedua variable mempunyai hubungan yang kuat.

Abstract

Islamic philanthropic organizations have been the people’s choice to distribute Zakat, Infaq, and Shadaqah. However, only a few realize that public relations is essential to maintaining relationships with audiences. NU Care LAZISNU East Java implements a public relations strategy to maintain public trust. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of public relations concepts in the Islamic philanthropic institution of NU Care LAZISNU, East Java. NU Care LAZISNU East Java, with various excellent programs, tries to build and maintain public trust as an institution that collects people’s funds and carries out a humanitarian mission. Thus, this research wants to examine further characteristics of public relations in Islamic philanthropic institutions to get a positive branding image. The method used qualitative research through interview techniques, observation, and documentation from NU Care LAZISNU, Scientific and Practical Basics of Islamic Communication East Java. The theory used to analyze is relationship management. The study results show that implementing public relations in the Islamic philanthropic institution at NU Care LAZISNU, East Java, is based on ethics, credibility, openness, trust, involvement, and mutual benefit principles. It is because this institution’s policies, activities, and programs are closely related to Islamic teachings in the form of the implementation of Zakat, Infaq, and Shadaqah. The public relations strategies are institutional identity, community involvement, publications, and events.

Abstract

This study examines the important role of Public Relations (PR) in building Community Relations and improving the quality of health services provided by social security providers in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra. This study specifically aims to analyze how PR practices affect community trust, awareness, and accessibility of health services in this historically valuable mining area. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, including PR professionals, local community leaders, and health service providers. According to the findings, successful public relations campaigns not only raise knowledge of the health services that are offered to the general public, but they also promote more community involvement and stronger, more enduring bonds amongst stakeholders. According to the study's findings, public relations plays a crucial role in resolving community issues and encouraging the use of medical services, both of which eventually improve health outcomes. These results highlight the value of PR in the larger framework of providing health and social security services, particularly in light of the particular difficulties faced by the mining industry.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the role of Public Relations (PR) in building Community Relations and improving the quality of healthcare services for social security providers in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra. The research aims to analyze how PR practices influence community trust and the accessibility of healthcare services in this mining region. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, including PR professionals and local community leaders. The results indicate that effective PR strategies can enhance public awareness of health services, increase community participation, and build stronger relationships between stakeholders. The study concludes that PR plays a crucial role in promoting healthcare services and addressing community concerns, which ultimately contributes to better healthcare outcomes. Abstract

In the midst of the rapid development of social media, the event organizer industry is experiencing significant growth. The number of new event organizer companies that have emerged has made the market increasingly competitive, many business actors rely on price war strategies to attract customers. One of them is PT. Pagador Kreasi Mandiri which operates in the field of activity organizing services or is called an event organizer, be it gathering activities, especially outbound offroading and rafting. In facing these challenges, Instagram has become a very important tool for event organizer companies to remain relevant and competitive without having to get caught in a price war. Instagram allows event organizer companies to promote services through attractive visual content and highlight qualities that can differentiate them from other competitors. The theory used in this research is the marketing communication mix theory. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The techniques used in this research are interview techniques, observation techniques and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques used in qualitative research include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The data in this study was tested using data source triagulation. Based on the results of research regarding the role of Instagram as a promotional media to retain customers at event organizers PT. Pagador Kreasi Mandiri. Following are some of the main elements in the marketing communication mix used by PT. Pagador Kreasi Mandiri. Advertising via social media Instagram, by publishing video content via reels and Instastory features on Instagram @pagador_team. The role of Instagram as a promotional media at PT. Pagador Kreasi Mandiri is contacting customers via Direct Massage (DM) on Instagram with the aim of building relationships with potential customers and maintaining loyal customers, increasing sales and income. Personal selling used by PT. Pagador Kreasi Mandiri in promoting event organizers uses the Q&A and Live features on Instagram social media to integrate directly with customers. PT. Pagador Kreasi Mandiri uses sales promotions that provide special discount offers or vouchers to followers through posts or Stories, encouraging them to make immediate purchases

Abstract

Coffee shop businesses are growing rapidly in Padang City. This can be seen from the increasing number of coffee shops, both small and large scale. Kopi Kita, a local coffee shop targeting the youth market, uses Instagram as its main promotional medium. This shop seeks to build relationships with consumers through visual content such as product photos, customer reviews, and discount promotions and special events. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of using Instagram social media as a promotional medium in increasing brand awareness. The theory used in this study is the Hierarchy of Effects Model Theory. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, used to collect data related to promotional activities on Instagram, engagement, and the impact on consumer behavior. The data used in this study were obtained from in- depth interviews with predetermined informants. The data in this study were tested using data source triangulation. Based on the results of the study regarding the process of forming brand awareness through several stages: awareness, interest, desire and action. Instagram plays a role in facilitating brand awareness through attractive visual content and special promos and interactions with customers. From this stage, it can be seen that Toko Kopi Kita has successfully implemented the hierarchy of effects model theory, as evidenced by the increasing number of visitors to Kopi Kita. Based on the data obtained from the research results on the role of Instagram social media as a promotional media at Kopi Kita coffee shop in increasing brand awareness, it can be concluded that Instagram social media is very effective as a promotional media to increase Kopi Kita brand awareness, and visual, educational and interactive content is the most effective promotional strategy. The use of relevant hashtags and interacting with customers increases brand awareness and Instagram plays an important role in building brand image and increasing Kopi Kita sales.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies implemented by the Protocol Division of the Regional Secretariat (Setda) of West Sumatra Province in ensuring the effectiveness of government event execution. Protocol, as a series of rules related to official events, plays a crucial role in ensuring events are conducted smoothly, orderly, and in compliance with established protocol standards. This research identifies various challenges faced by the Protocol Division, including social dynamics, technological advancements, and the demand for transparency and professionalism in the organization of government events. Using organizational communication theory, the study analyzes the role of protocol in managing communication and coordination among involved parties, including government officials, security, and the media. The findings show that well-planned strategies, effective coordination, and continuous evaluation are essential in creating a positive image for the local government, strengthening relationships among stakeholders, and enhancing the effectiveness of government event execution in West Sumatra Province.

Abstract

In accordance with the lecturers’ obligations in the Odd Semester of the 2024/2025 academic year as part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, one of the activities carried out was a Community Service Program entitled: “Self-Awareness: Becoming the Best Version of Yourself Through Self-Discovery” (a seminar held at Aisyiyah Orphanage, Padang). This activity served as both a responsibility in implementing the Tri Dharma and a social contribution from UNIDHA lecturers to the community. One important societal group that requires special attention is children in orphanages who are undergoing identity development. Many of them grow up in pressured environments and lack a proper understanding of themselves and the importance of mental health. Therefore, it is essential to provide early education on self-awareness and emotional regulation. The ability to recognize personal potential, understand emotions, and develop healthy interpersonal communication can help these children grow into more confident and resilient individuals. In this program, the UNIDHA team of lecturers provided training and guidance on self-reflection, mental strength, and empathic communication. Using methods such as lectures, interactive discussions, and simulations, participants were guided to formulate personal growth steps with a positive impact on themselves and their surroundings.Keywords: Self-awareness, Mental Health, Self-Reflection, Empathic Communication, Orphanage
