Abstract

Abstract

The availability of cybermedia offers many options that vary for discovering and consuming information similar to the ability to generate it. Cybermedia has also given rise to new methods for people to interact and build relationships in society, posing problems for researchers in the communication study field, particularly in dissecting new kinds of multi-modal communication. The research objective is to learn more about how Michel Foucault's discourse analysis applies to the cybermedia discourse. The findings of this study show that Foucault's notions, as found in The Birth of the Clinic, The Archeology of Knowledge, and Technology of the Self, are still relevant in addressing the difficulties of cybermedia research. The Foucaultian approach to social media focuses on sharing processes, which are the foundation of social media. Another aspect of Foucault's media philosophy is "constant awareness and visibility."

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic wrought havoc across various facets of human life, inducing transformative disruptions, notably in the domain of theatre. The traditional paradigm of live indoor performances, characterized by the dynamic interactions among actors, was rendered unsafe. In response, the digital space emerged as a viable alternative, not only in Indonesia but globally. This paradigm shift necessitates and begets new theories intrinsic to theatre in the digital realm. This article traces the historical trajectory and the ensuing transformations in digital theatre, offering insights into the anticipated outcomes of these changes within the realm of theatre and performance studies. The evolution of theatre in the digital space challenges established boundaries, rules, and theories, fundamentally altering conceptions related to actor relationships, the juxtaposition of physical and digital bodies, delineations between stage and backstage, considerations of identity, ideology, and the very essence of this nascent digital domain.

Abstract

The overarching aim of this community service program is to contribute significantly to the understanding of risk communication dynamics and its profound implications within broader societal contexts. Beyond mere dissemination of information, this initiative serves as a comprehensive study, delving into the intricate web of societal attitudes, perceptions, and the intricate pathways through which information traverses within communities. Central to this endeavor is the creation of educational videos geared towards enhancing community awareness, particularly targeting the youth in rural village settings. These videos, crafted by local youth in Surabaya, encapsulate not only informative content but also culturally nuanced messaging that resonates deeply with the intended audience. Methodologically, the program adopts a multifaceted approach. Firstly, it involves the online dissemination of educational materials, strategically targeting bustling areas in Surabaya, notably Petemon and Kaliasin. Secondly, it encompasses Focus Group Discussions with children, providing invaluable insights into their utilization of smartphone cameras and their perceptions of media content. Lastly, the program includes a hands-on video workshop, empowering children to actively participate in the creation of visual narratives, thereby fostering a sense of ownership and agency. The duration of the research spanned a comprehensive 15-day period, allowing for in-depth exploration and analysis of community dynamics and perceptions. The outcomes of these community engagement activities unveil nuanced layers of perception and understanding regarding COVID-19 prevention programs, particularly the government's vaccination efforts. Notably, there emerges a preference for peer-driven engagement, with individuals opting to involve those within their immediate social circles. Within this communal framework, the created videos serve as powerful tools, employing a blend of straightforward visual storytelling and everyday language to effectively communicate crucial messages, thereby fostering a sense of collective responsibility and empowerment within the community.

Abstract

Stunting is a form of malnutrition that occurs as a result of improper child- rearing practices that cause a child to lack nutrition from the womb until the first thousand days of life. In 2021, 24.4% of Indonesian toddlers still experience stunting. One of the causes is a culture that is not in line with healthy living behaviors. This study will answer the question of what culture has an impact on the stunting cases in Indonesia? The research method used is descriptive qualitative with literature study as the basis for its data. The results of the research show various cultural roles both adaptive and ideational cultures that contribute to stunting. Adaptive cultures that play a role in stunting include hustle culture, working mothers, and education. Meanwhile, ideational cultures that still have an impact on stunting until now include beliefs, early marriage, incorrect feeding, and incorrect feeding methods. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide a contribution to the study of public health and more effective health promotion in the future. AbstrakStunting merupakan kasus kekerdilan yang terjadi akibat kesalahan pola asuh anak yang menyebabkan anak kekurangan gizi sejak dari dalam kandungan sampai seribu hari pertama kehidupan. Abstract

The effective communication is crucial for providing good service at the Community Health Center (Puskesmas). One major issue that can lead to patient dissatisfaction is the communication skills of health workers. When these workers struggle to communicate well, patients may feel poorly served and find it hard to understand their health conditions and care instructions. To address this problem, the Communication Department of FISIP UNAIR organized a training called "Communication Skills Training for Health Workers to Improve Puskesmas Services at the Sidoarjo Regency." The aim of the training was to minimize communication errors between doctors and patients and enhance the community’s view of services at the Puskesmas. The training included various sessions for health workers. They had the chance to share their thoughts, understand patient backgrounds, and practice listening skills. They also learned how to use facial expressions, gestures, and polite language when communicating with patients through role-play exercises. The results of the training were positive. Participants could explain the material through role-play and improved their active listening skills. They managed their facial expressions, gestures, and voice tone better, and applied polite communication with patients from different backgrounds. A final survey showed a 25% increase in communication skills, improving from 55% to 80%. In summary, the community service team concluded that the training was well received and effectively implemented by participants at their health centers.
