Abstract

ABSTRACT In today's digital era, information has become a primary need in daily activities. Weverse is a social media application that is widely used to fulfill the information and communication needs between K-Pop idols and their fans. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Weverse digital application as a medium for fulfilling the information needs of K-Pop fans in Indonesia. The theories used in this research are communication effectiveness from Andre Hardjana, the theory of meeting information needs from Katz, Gurevitch, Hans and new media theory from Pierre Levy. This research uses descriptive quantitative methods with observation, documentation and distributing questionnaires in the form of Google forms to K-Pop fans who actively use Weverse with 100 samples that have been determined using the Simple Random Sampling technique or samples chosen randomly. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed by carrying out validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, linearity tests, correlation tests, F tests, T tests, and coefficient of determination. From this research, a significance value of 0.000 was obtained with the linear regression equation Y = 4.798 + 1.139X. With the calculation results of R Squere 0.818 which shows that there is an influence between variable X and variable Y of 81.8% and the remaining 18.2% is influenced by other factors. And the T test shows that there is a significant influence, which means that the use of the Weverse digital application is significantly effective in fulfilling the information needs of K-Pop fans in Indonesia Keywords: Weverse Application, Information Needs, Fans

Abstract

The development of scientific journals has rapidly progressed in recent times, serving as a platform for publishing scientific articles derived from research conducted by scholars. The abundance of published articles has led to the emergence of new fields of study, one of which is bibliometrics. The presence of bibliometrics facilitates the measurement of the development of scientific journals. This research aims to identify scientific articles published through the Journal of Information and Library Studies from 2019 to 2023, using bibliometric analysis. The data collection method employed in this study involves observing and recording information about the number of articles, the number of authors, citation counts, collaboration and single-authorship. The data analysis method utilizes bibliometric analysis techniques, calculating values using the Subramanyam formula to determine the level of author collaboration. Lotka's Law is employed to measure author productivity, and the impact factor is used to assess journal quality. The research findings indicate that within the 2019-2023 timeframe, the Journal of Information and Library Studies has produced 66 articles with a total of 172 contributing authors. The calculation of the author collaboration level resulted in a value of C equal to 0.803. Author productivity within the Journal of Information and Library Studies for the years 2019-2023, as calculated based on Lotka's Law, yielded a value of n = 3.033 with C = 0.8539. Abstract

Abstract

The high consumption of information on social media has not been accompanied by students' ability to respond to it critically, as reflected in their tendency to accept information without adequate verification. This study aims to examine the influence of social media literacy ability on the critical attitude of students at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 100 students randomly selected from a population of 19,635 undergraduates, then analyzed using simple linear regression, t-test, and the coefficient of determination (R2) with the aid of IBM SPSS 26. The results indicate that social media literacy has a positive and significant effect on students' critical attitude, with a t-value of 6.821 > t-table 1.984 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, contributing 32.2%. Descriptively, social media literacy was highest in the analysis indicator (3.79) and lowest in grouping (3.22), while critical attitude was highest in open-mindedness and inquisitiveness (3.88) and lowest in self- confidence (3.45). These findings demonstrate that social media literacy contributes to students' critical attitude through a staged cognitive process, making the strengthening of social media literacy programs in higher education an important step toward building students who are critically minded and intellectually responsible in the digital era.
