Abstract

Garut Regency in 2021, women who experienced vaginal discharge were 318,976 or 29.73%. The high number of cases of vaginal discharge in women of childbearing age and the frequent occurrence of less serious treatment when vaginal discharge occurs are of particular concern among women. One way that can be done to treat vaginal discharge is to use a decoction of soursop leaves because they contain antiseptic substances that can kill germs, namely phenol, which has antiseptic properties 5 times more effective than ordinary phenol. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of soursop leaf decoction (Annona muricata L) on vaginal discharge in women of childbearing age in the Karangmulya Health Center Working Area, Garut Regency. Methodology: This study used a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with control design. The population in the study were all those who experienced leucorrhea with a score of >5 or 50 people. The sample in the study used total sampling which was divided into two groups, 25 respondents in the experimental group and 25 respondents in the control group. The instruments used were observation sheets and technical instructions about the use of soursop leaf decoction. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney tests. Results: The average score of vaginal discharge in the experimental group before the intervention was 10.32 and after the intervention was 6.84, while the average score in the control group in the first measurement was 10.36 and in the second measurement was 9.04. The bivariate results showed a p-value in the experimental group of 0.000, a p-value in the control group of 0.000 and a p-value comparison of the experimental and control groups of 0.000. Conclusion: Soursop leaf decoction has been proven effective in treating vaginal discharge in women of childbearing age, so there is a difference in vaginal discharge experienced by women of childbearing age after being given soursop leaf decoction between the experimental and control groups. Suggestion: It is hoped that women of childbearing age can handle or treat vaginal discharge independently by using soursop leaf decoction.

Abstract

The immune system of infants is still developing, making them more susceptible to infectious diseases, including tuberculosis (TB). One of the effective preventive measures against TB is Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) immunization. However, BCG immunization coverage in the regency has only reached 93.13%, with Pakandangan Health Center ranking as the second lowest, achieving only 64% coverage out of a target population of 242 infants. This study aimed to examine the relationship between mothers’ level of knowledge and attitudes and the provision of BCG immunization in Korong Pakandangan, Enam Lingkung District, in 2025. An analytic survey with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 92 mothers who had infants aged 0–11 months, using total sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses. The results showed that 60.9% of respondents had low knowledge regarding BCG immunization, 56.5% had negative attitudes toward BCG immunization, and 66.3% had provided BCG immunization to their infants. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between mothers’ knowledge and BCG immunization provision (p = 0.001) as well as between mothers’ attitudes and BCG immunization provision (p = 0.008). In conclusion, mothers’ knowledge and attitudes are significantly associated with the provision of BCG immunization. It is recommended that health workers, particularly community health volunteers (posyandu staff), enhance the frequency of health education to improve awareness of the importance of BCG immunization for infants.

Abstract

According to data from the WHO (World Health Organization), In 2017, an estimated 295,000 maternal deaths of women died during and after pregnancy and childbirth.  The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI) recorded that the number of maternal deaths in Indonesia was 4,627 people in 2020. This number increased by 8.92% from the previous year, 4,197 people. By province, 745 mothers who died were in West Java last year. The proportion reaches 16.1% of the total maternal mortality in the country.  Anemia is one of the indirect causes of maternal death due to bleeding. In pregnant women, anemia increases the frequency of complications in pregnancy and childbirth. In general, one of the causes of iron deficiency anemia is insufficient iron intake and inadequate absorption (Widyastuti, 2005). Iron absorption is greatly influenced by the availability of vitamin C in the mother's body. Guava juice is a fruit easily and cheaply obtained by the public. Red guava contains carbohydrates of 12.2 g / 100 gr and fiber of 5.6 g / 100 guava fruit.  So, it is hoped that pregnant women will understand their condition during pregnancy after this service. This community service was conducted through demonstrations and practices on 20 pregnant women in Cibungbulang District, Bogor Regency. This activity went well, and pregnant women felt the benefits of this service activity. Pregnant women are expected to be aware of the dangers of anemia and the benefits of detection by checking hemoglobin and consuming guava juice to increase hemoglobin levels.

Abstract

The quality of health and development among children in later stages of life is greatly influenced by early childhood education (PAUD). At this stage, balanced nutrition is very important for building healthy living habits, physical growth, and cognitive development. However, the common problem is that children do not like to eat vegetables. As a result, they do not get enough nutrients, especially vitamins and fiber. Therefore, new healthy and appealing menu must be created. One of the innovations offered by this community service program was made healthy carrot gummies. Carrots were chosen because they contain vitamin A, beta-carotene, fiber, and other essential nutrients that were important for maintaining eye health, boosting the immune system, and supporting children's growth. Thru more preferred form and taste, processing carrots into gummies was expected to increase children's interest in eating vegetables. The aim of this service is to enhance children's interest in vegetable-based products, improve the nutritional quality of children in early childhood education, and provide easily accessible and healthy snack options. The expected benefits are an increase in nutritional intake, especially vitamin A, and the establishment of healthy eating habits from a young age. This activity was conducted with twenty preschool children thru various steps. They selected the raw materials, made carrot gummies, conducted trials to see if the children accepted them, and evaluated their reactions. The results of activity showed that children prefer to eat healthy snacks that were visually appealing. Additionally, parents and early childhood educators learned about the importance of balanced nutrition. Overall, this activity influences children's eating patterns and family nutrition awareness. It is hoped that similar activities can be conducted sustainably so that the habit of consuming healthy menus among early childhood education (PAUD) children can be consistently formed.
