Abstract

Obesity is a global health problem suffered by people around the world, including Indonesian. Adipose tissue dysfunction and fat distribution are affecting the incidence of obesity-related diseases. The study aimed to compare the levels of lipid profiles (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides) and inflammatory markers (ESR and leukocyte count) between groups with normal nutritional status and obesity. Data were collected using a cross-sectional study with 14 young adult men for the normal nutritional status group with a BMI of 18,5-24,99kg/m2 and 14 young adult men for the obese group with a BMI ³25 kg/m2 in August-December 2019. The respondents aged 18-35 years were measured body composition and tested for levels of lipid profiles and inflammatory markers. The results of statistical tests with independent t-test showed no difference in the number of leukocytes (p-value=0.08) but there was a significant difference in ESR (25,1±14,1 vs 47,2±23,7,p-value=0,006), total cholesterol (126,6±26,4 vs 175,5±32,0, p-value=0,001), triglycerides (113,3±38,3 vs 161,5±46,9,p=0,006) and LDL (53±18,4 vs 95±27,3, p-value=0,001). This study concludes that there are significant differences in levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and ESR between groups of individuals with normal nutritional status and obesity.

Abstract

SARS-CoV-2, a lung-damaging virus, is what causes COVID-19. While a decline in lymphocyte counts suggests immune system harm, a rise in neutrophil counts reflects the severity of the inflammatory response. A high NLR value results from an increase in neutrophils and a decrease in lymphocytes. On the other hand, when plasmin breaks down fibrin to dissolve blood clots, it creates pieces called D-dimers. ARDS is predicted by an elevated D-dimer level. The study's objective was to ascertain how the severity of COVID-19 patients at Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek in 2021 related to NLR and D-dimer levels. Analytical research with a retrospective design is being conducted. The Rank Spearman correlation test and Pearson Chi-Square analyzed medical record data for COVID-19 patients. The study was carried out in Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek in June 2022. 205 COVID-19 patients who underwent NLR and D-dimer testing and were categorized based on the severity of the condition served as the study's subjects. The test findings revealed a substantial connection between NLR and D-dimer (r=0.583), demonstrating a strong and favorable link. NLR and illness severity showed a significant relationship (r=0.49). D-dimer and illness severity also showed a strong connection (r=0.51).

Abstract

Health care is one industry that cannot escape from the touch of technology. Improvement of service quality, effective operational management, and customer satisfaction are the main objectives in the use of technology. One ofthe technology products that are important in clinical laboratories is the laboratory information system(LIS). Clinical laboratories produce and manage a lot of data as information to support medical diagnosiswith no exception in clinical laboratories at the Puskesmas (public health centre). Puskesmas as the spearhead of health services required to give the best performance and the use of LIS in clinical laboratory units can help improve laboratory operational performance. The purpose of this study was to determine the needs of the laboratory for LIS and to design a website-based LIS application according to the needs of the Puskesmas in Bandar Lampung City. This research method is a survey with data collection from the interviews with MLTs at 13 Puskesmas in Bandar Lampung City from June to December 2021. The design of a website-based SIL application is carried out using the data flow diagram (DFD) method. The results of the research is application features that can be applied in the design of making applications, namely ordering laboratory examinations, inputting patient data with a complete identity format, inputting laboratory results, and monthly results reports. These features are then designed in an application called the Orange Laboratory Information System (O-SIL).

Abstract

The number of cases of non-communicable diseases in Indonesia continues to increase every year. This incident can be caused by the lack of awareness of individuals in the community to carry out routine health checks so that early detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) based on health services becomes less effective.  Prevention of NCDs risk factors and community-based prevention is one solution that can be done to reduce the risk of mortality rate due to NCDs. The purpose of this activity is to conduct health checks in the form of screening blood glucose, uric acid, and hemoglobin levels for the community in the LKSA environment of Sholawatul Fallah Orphanage, Bandar Lampung. The implementation time is Friday, August 26, 2022, at LKSA Sholawatul Fallah Orphanage, Bandar Lampung. This activity was attended by 43 residents who checked blood glucose, uric acid, and hemoglobin levels. The results obtained that as many as 43% had high blood glucose levels, 28% had high uric acid levels, and 10% with hemoglobin results below normal. The results of the examination are recommended for further examination to the Puskesmas for the Community with high blood glucose and uric acid levels.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the main nutritional problems toddlers face worldwide, including in Indonesia. Indonesia's stunting rate has decreased from 26.9% in 2020 to 21.1% in 2022, although it is still far from the national target of 14% by 2024. This community service program aims to increase the capacity of families with stunted toddlers through education, assistance, and training programs in Taman Fajar Village, Purbolinggo District, East Lampung Regency. The methods used include socialization, stunting, and parenting education, provision of supplementary food (PMT), appetite massage training (Tuina massage), hemoglobin level examination and iron tablet supplementation, and parenting assistance for stunted toddlers. The results of the activities showed an increase in family knowledge about stunting and parenting, an improvement in mothers' skills in performing appetite massage techniques, and the delivery of PMT and vitamins for stunted toddlers. The evaluation also showed positive behavioral changes in families in caring for stunted toddlers. Thus, this program effectively intervenes and prevents stunting in the research area.

Abstract

Storage procedures are the main factor that influences the quality of platelet concentrate. In vitro, platelet concentrate is stored in a platelet agitator at a temperature of 20ºC-24ºC for 5 days. This study aims to determine the difference in the number of platelets in platelet concentrate with and without the agitation process. This type of research is quasi-experimental using a time series design with an independent t-test. The research was conducted in April 2024. Samples of 16 bags of platelet concentrate with and without the agitation process which were stored on the 0th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th days were checked for platelet counts. In the normality test of the platelet examination data, the p-value was <0.05, so it was stated that the data was not normally distributed so it had to be continued with the Mann-Whitney U test. The research results showed that the p-value on days 0, 1, 2, and 3 was >0.05, indicating no significant difference in the number of platelets between the groups with and without the agitation process. Meanwhile, on days 4 and 5, a p-value <0.05 was found, and there was a difference in the number of platelets with and without the agitation process. It can be concluded that agitation plays an important role in maintaining platelet stability after the third day of storage, indicating that the agitation process is necessary to preserve platelet quality during longer storage periods.
