Abstract

One of the important contributions from the academic community of Brawijaya University is the empowerment of students in the boarding school setting. A range of empowerment programs have been adopted, encompassing the enhancement of traditional beverage production tools and workshop tools, as well as the introduction of handicraft innovations to augment income. The economy of the students and members of the Darul Mutaqin Islamic boarding school in Dau Village, Batu City, primarily relies on donations, supplemented by revenue generated from the sale of herbal goods. The school is strategically located next to rice fields, which offer ample natural resources. Food self-sufficiency can be achieved by utilizing animal husbandry techniques that involve feeding animals with nutritious green feed derived from agricultural waste, such as water hyacinth and maize stalks. This approach holds significant promise. Presently, the livestock industry at Darul Mutaqin Islamic Boarding School, namely in poultry farming, remains underdeveloped despite the ample availability of natural resources. Poultry farming, a generally manageable approach, might suffer a decrease in economic profitability if not adequately planned. The implementation of suitable technology via the Doktor Mengabdi initiative is anticipated to enhance students' proficiency in animal husbandry, augment livestock yield, and uphold environmental well-being. Darul Mutaqin's future goals include attaining financial self-sufficiency. This effort offers solutions by implementing a cutting-edge pilot project for a contemporary livestock system that integrates diverse mechanization and automation technology. The purpose of these suitable technologies is to generate sustainable poultry products, hence benefiting the pesantren community.

Abstract

This community service activity is carried out to improve the quality of life for the people of Ngebel Village, Ponorogo Regency, by applying appropriate technology in coffee production. Ngebel Village is known as a producer of Wilis coffee, which has great potential but still faces issues in post-harvest processing that are not yet efficient. This activity aims to improve the productivity and quality of Wilis coffee by implementing modern coffee hulling and grinding machines. The methods used in this activity include a functional approach and mentoring, with the application of appropriate technology in the form of coffee hulling and grinding machines specifically designed to enhance production efficiency. Training is conducted to ensure that the BUMDesa managers can operate and maintain the machines properly. After implementing these machines, there is expected to be a significant increase in the efficiency of coffee processing, a reduction in production costs, and an improvement in the quality of Wilis coffee. The community will also acquire new skills in operating post-harvest coffee technology. Additionally, this activity helps improve the competitiveness of Wilis' coffee products in the market. By applying appropriate technology in coffee production at BUMDesa Barokah in Ngebel Village, the main goal of sustainable activity will be achieved: improving the quality and efficiency of coffee production, which contributes to the economic well-being of the local community.

Abstract

For a very long time, villages have been positioned as objects of development by the state in various fields of development, including health and human resources. After the implementation of the village law issued in 2014, villages were granted autonomy. The granting of this autonomy does not necessarily make the village dissolve in the euphoria of celebrating managing its territory, especially health matters. Villages cannot simply be separated from the resources of the authorities that have been accustomed to relied on villages so far. Our study shows that there are negotiation efforts between the two autonomous regions to resolve cases of stunting (failure to develop and develop children) in Trenggalek District. What we want to put forward in this study is the strategy adopted by the village and the ingenuity of the district to embrace the village in preventing and reducing stunting. This research use a qualitative research methodThrough interviews with various parties at the local, sub-district, and village government levels, we found that the negotiations carried out had been able to change the ego between actors and the negative stigma about stunting into a collective force capable of fighting the high rate of stunting in Trenggalek District. Stunting is not only a problem for the health department . The stunting case in Trenggalek District can be reduced through cooperation between actors from various sectors because stunting is a form of failure of various policies that must be addressed together.

Abstract

This study aims to apply the Stepping Stone transportation method to optimize transportation costs for sending personal protective equipment (PPE) to thirteen health centers in Pamekasan. The method used is theĀ Stepping Stone transportation method because it can manage the distribution of several warehouses that provide products to be sent to places in need optimally, which was previously a problem due to the length of time for sending medicines and PPE to each health centre and shipping operational costs are increasing because the distance of each warehouse to each health centre in each sub-district is very influential for cost as well as time. Based on the results of transportation simulations with this method, the results of the distribution cost of PPE delivery to each health centre in Pamekasan were obtained with distribution to Pamekasan warehouses of 30,000 units, Pakong warehouses of 15,000 units, Tlanakan warehouses of 10,000 units, and Pasean warehouses of 19,500 units, with optimal costs of IDR 37,000,000. The contribution of this research can be used by the Pamekasan District Health Office as an alternative policy for distributing PPE to each health centre in Pamekasan at an optimal cost.
