Abstract

AbstractOn the support of embodiment of livable Surabaya, the endeavors do not merely come from the government control. Inhabitants of Surabaya are present to encourage improvement and sovereignty of their city. In this case, there is one independent organization who constantly and actively empower volunteerism and social action of #stopfoodwaste, named Garda Pangan. Garda Pangan has a mission to stop food waste and to process leftovers to be worth-eating food, yet to help others in need. There are two main problems in this research, firstly I want to examine how does mediatization come through Garda Pangan programs related to #stopfoodwaste and secondly how does mediatization bring the participatory culture through digital praxis. I put a case study using theory of mediatization to scrutiny that Garda Pangan addresses intersection of issues. The result of this research is that digital praxis which intertwined with offline practices can bring discourse co-creating. It also delivers a stronger participatory culture, not only limited by main producer, but also supported the co-players (co-creators). The main issue itself can be heard by wider public.Keywords: mediatization, participatory culture, digital practice, Garda Pangan.

Abstract

Hari Minggu melekat pada beberapa aktivitas dalam praktik keseharian, bila merujuk pada ritual keagamaan, hari Minggu identik dengan prosesi religi Kristen, sementara bila mengacu pada kalender pemerintah, sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia sedang menikmati hari libur dari pekerjaan mereka di penghujung minggu. Dari sekian banyak aktivitas yang dioperasikan pada hari Minggu, penelitian ini memfokuskan pada praktik membaca surat kabar Minggu. Subyek dalam penelitian adalah Kompas Minggu, surat kabar akhir pekan yang tampil dengan wujud lebih stylish, berisikan topik-topik seputar budaya, masyarakat, gaya hidup, kehidupan urban, kebudayaan populer, kuliner, keluarga, dan seni. Penelitian ini secara khusus meneliti kolom dalam Kompas Minggu yang bertajuk Catatan Minggu. Peneliti mengambil tiga kolom dalam Catatan Minggu yang terbit pada 14 Juni 2015 berjudul Yogya-Magelang, lalu pada 28 Juni 2015 berjudul Padang-Bukittinggi, lalu kolom ketiga dengan judul Pada Setiap Sudut Kota New York yang diterbitkan pada 5 November 2017. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah critical discourse analysis (CDA) atau analisis wacana kritis yang diutarakan oleh Teun A. Van Dijk. CDA Van Dijk menaruh landasan diskursus (discourse) pada tatanan sosiokognitif, di mana memiliki dua maksud. Maksud pertama bahwasanya diskursus berelasi pada proses tekstual yang berada dalam lingkup media massa, lalu maksud kedua, diskursus menyiratkan nilai-nilai, struktur sosial, praktik, bahkan relasi kuasa. Metode ini digunakan untuk mengupas rumusan masalah penelitian: bagaimana interplay antara teks dan praksis dalam narasi urban yang terkandung dalam kolom Catatan Minggu.

Abstract

Made Subdistrict of Sambikerep, Surabaya is an area that is very close to Ciputra University campus building complex which is only about 3 km away.  The large number of migrants living in the area ranging from those who work in offices and students is a huge opportunity for residents of the Made Subdistrict to open catering business. This was the main reason underlying Ms. Alfiah to open a heavy food supply business. Ms. Alfiah is a housewife who loves cooking. Come from Lamongan Regency and has lived in the Made Subdistrict area for quite a long time. The problems faced by the business partners of Okay La Beb Catering are limited marketing: The catering business owner Oke La Beb has not implemented a marketing strategy that reaches more customers, the technology used is not maximal, often there are no transactions simply because she does not have any knowledge how to use technology for marketing. The solution is to provide basic knowledge of marketing strategies through integrated marketing communication, guiding the use of digital technology in marketing communications. Through community service activities conducted, Ms. Alfiah can use online media, namely Whatsapp (personal messenger) and (Instagram) social media in marketing. Keywords: online media, catering, digital technology, marketing communication

Abstract

Pada tahun 2000 tercatat ada 13.400 LSM yang bergerak pada bidang lingkungan hidup di Indonesia. Namun banyaknya LSM ini tidak diikuti dengan prestasi di bidang lingkungan hidup, kerusakan lingkungan hidup tetap terjadi, bahkan semakin luas. Beberapa keadaan tersebut membuat LSM lingkungan hidup mulai tidak diminati dan ditinggalkan. Hal ini dibuktikan oleh salah satu LSM lingkungan hidup bernama PEPULIH yang semakin hari semakin sulit menjaring anak-anak muda untuk terlibat dalam kepengurusan mereka. Minimnya prestasi dan kekeliruan proses atau cara ber-komunikasi menyebabkan PEPULIH sulit diterima oleh generasi muda. Maka dari itu pengabdian masyarakat ini ingin menjawab permasalahan komunikasi dari PEPULIH agar lebih dapat diterima oleh anak muda, dan terutama membentuk citra yang baik. Tim pengabdian masyarakat, memberikan jawaban dengan melakukan komunikasi melalui media sosial Instagram. Melalui media yang banyak digunakan anak muda saat ini, diharapkan PEPULIH dapat membangun citranya dengan baik sehingga dapat lebih diterima oleh anak muda. PEPULIH yang saat ini lebih ingin dilihat sebagai LSM Lingkungan Hidup yang memberikan edukasi bagi generasi muda untuk hidup ramah lingkungan. Harapannya generasi muda akan tertarik untuk turut serta dalam kepengurusan PEPULIH melalui kegiatan komunikasi dan edukasi di media sosial Instagram. Oleh karenanya diperlukan rancangan yang tepat, baik dari segi tema warna hingga jenis konten. Tema warna yang disarankan untuk LSM lingkungan hidup seperti PEPULIH adalah dominan warna hijau, yang didukung dengan penggunaan warna cokelat, biru, dan kuning. Pada kondisi tertentu penggunaan tema warna merah bisa dilakukan, dan dapat didukung dengan penggunaan warna kuning atau warna utama (hijau). Selain tema warna, perancangan juga mendesain jadwal unggah dan frekuensi unggah sedemikian rupa agar dapat menyasar generasi muda dan menarik bagi mereka.

Abstract

Kemampuan public speaking saat ini menjadi kebutuhan yang tidak terelakkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, apalagi bagi orang yang ingin berwirausaha. Maka dari itu Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi dan Bisnis Media (FIKOM) Universitas Ciputra Surabaya, melaksanakan program pelatihan bertajuk “Public Speaker for L[y]fe”, yang memberikan pembekalan berbicara di depan publik terutama di ranah bisnis. Program ini telah dijalankan bersama salah satu mitra yaitu SMA Citra Berkat untuk mendorong siswa-siswanya berani berwirausaha sejak dini. Materi pelatihan terdiri atas 3 topik besar, yaitu Self-identification, Power Presentation, dan Public Speaking. Materi tersebut diberikan dalam 12 kali pertemuan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi, dan praktik langsung oleh siswa. Hasil dari program pelatihan ini adalah peserta kegiatan mendapatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan baru dalam berbicara di depan publik, yang dapat mereka praktikkan secara langsung. Siswa diberikan bekal untuk dapat mempresentasikan produk-produk mereka, baik dalam rangka penjualan produk maupun untuk menarik investor. Kegiatan ini telah berlangsung dengan baik dan dirasa bermanfaat oleh peserta, dimana ilmu yang didapatkan bisa dipergunakan dalam kegiatan wirausaha mereka. Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic resulted many changes and adjustments in various sectors of life, including the creative fashion industry sector. One of the topics that came out was the concept of sustainable fashion as a solution to overcome the challenges of changing times. One of the ideas for implementing the concept is “reduce-reuse-recycle”. The topic of this research is the application of the reduce-reuse-recycle concept in the design of co-ed androgynous unisex fashion using clothing waste, unsold clothing stock, and leftover fabric scraps. The topic of unisex clothing is a global fashion trend phenomenon that represents the efficiency of product differentiation as well as a gender identity campaign through appearance. The research problem is to find a suitable concept of design development for a unisex fashion product with co-ed androgynous style based on sustainable. The purpose of the research is to determine the concept and process of designing a unisex fashion product with a co-ed androgynous style based on a sustainable concept. The research method uses descriptive qualitative methods through triangulation (combined) data collection techniques covering several ways, namely literature, observation, interviews, and experimental. The design method uses the DUCMOT fashion system design stage with the design process in research and experimental testing. This concept not only has a positive impact on the surrounding environment but can also hone the creativity of industry players in utilizing and extending the life cycle of a product into new, innovative products. Abstract

This research aims to understand the consumption behavior of Blackpink merchandise by Indonesian BLINKs through the Weverse and Weverse Shop applications. This research method uses a descriptive quasi-qualitative approach to explain fanaticism in BLINK Indonesia's parasocial interactions at Weverse Shop. The theories used include parasocial interaction theory, communication theory via computer-based media (CMC) and new media, as well as uses and gratifications theory. Data collection was carried out through interviews and online document studies with BLINK Indonesia who are active in the Weverse and Weverse Shop applications. The results of this research reveal that BLINK Indonesia develops parasocial interactions that produce fanaticism towards Blackpink, both as fans, admins and buyers at Weverse Shop. The conclusion is that the use of social media, in this case Weverse, has the potential to give rise to fanaticism in purchasing Blackpink merchandise. Abstract

Pendidikan atau dalam hal ini adalah pedagogi turut menghadapi kendala saat pandemi Covid-19 terjadi, dampak terbesar dari pandemi dirasakan oleh baik siswa-siswi juga para pengajar atau guru-guru di sekolah. Pedagogi mengalami kondisi tidak biasa dan perlu beradaptasi dengan situasi pandemi, sehingga salah satu cara pedagogi adalah dengan menyusun program pembelajaran daring (online) sehingga siswa-siswi dan guru tetap bisa melangsungkan pembelajaran saat Covid-19 melanda. Persoalan utama dari penelitian ini adalah melihat bagaimana teori akomodasi komunikasi (Communication Accommodation Theory) diterapkan dalam interaksi antara guru bimbingan konseling dan siswa-siswi SMA Petra 1 Surabaya. Tujuan penelitian adalah menyuguhkan akomodasi komunikasi di tengah perubahan model pembelajaran daring. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan pendekatan kualitatif, di mana pengumpulan datanya menggunakan studi dokumen dan wawancara mendalam ke beberapa informan agar menemukan kesahihan dalam triangulasi sumber data. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Communication Accommodation Theory muncul di tindakan-tindakan akomodasi, ketidakakomodasian, dan interaksi dalam komunikasi simetris di antara siswa-siswi SMA Petra 1 Surabaya dengan guru bimbingan konseling mereka. Adaptasi yang mendasar dalam pedagogi daring adalah adaptasi dengan teknologi pembelajaran, kemudian berlanjut pada cara belajar baru. Konseling diadakan melalui aplikasi Zoom dan layanan chat, materi disampaikan secara ringkas agar siswa-siswi tidak bosan dan tetap fokus pada pedagogi. Kendala tidak terhindarkan saat jaringan Internet buruk, perbedaan persepsi antara guru BK dengan siswa-siswi, juga bila ada penurunan konsentrasi saat pedagogi luring berlangsung. Untuk menjaga akomodasi dan mengurangi ketidakakomodasian, diperlukan komunikasi simetris di antara kedua belah pihak.

Abstract

Media can shape the way the people see themselves, as well as the identity of a particular group collectively. In western countries where most of the population is dominated by white people such as Europe and North America, black people are included in a minority group that is vulnerable to discrimination and racism. The lack of opportunity for them to show their existence in the media has further obscured their identities and women are no exception. Representation in the media is no longer interpreted as representing a particular group’s identity but is used as a tool to fulfill media marketing strategies. This research aims to find out the forms of representation of black women in England that are mainly featured on two covers of British Vogue issued in August 2018 and February 2022. This research shows that the representation of black women featured on the cover of British Vogue’s August 2018 has represented black African American women, while the cover of the February 2022 has shown black African women. Both covers did not only attract the audiences in the UK but international audiences, moreover these covers have also indicated racial issues and feminism in the field of fashion. In this study, fashion magazine covers did not only show changes in fashion trends, but also the shifts in the representation of women’s identity and beauty standards.
