Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: seperti apa pelaksanaan banjar kematian di Dusun Dasan Baru Desa Keruak Kecamatan Keruak, alasan terbentuknya banjar kematian serta peran banjar kematian dalam meningkatkan solidaritas sosial pada masyarakat Dusun Dasan Baru Desa Keruak Kecamatan Keruak baik dilihat dari sisi ekonomi, sosial, maupun budaya masyarakat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Temuan dalam penelitian yaitu: 1) pelaksanaan banjar kematian dilakukan dengan terlebih dahulu dikumpulkannya masyarakat dan memusyawarahkan niat baik mengenai banjar kematian yang dimaksud demi meringankan beban bersama sebagai masyarakat, yang kemudian menyepakati sejumlah pengeluaran yang hendak dikeluarkan ketika adanya musibah kematian didalam masyarakat. 2) peran banjar kematian, antara lain menumbuhkan rasa kebersamaan, gotong royong, meringankan beban masyarakat yang kurang mampu, alat pemersatu, silaturahmi, dan penanaman solidaritas masyarakat. Dan alasan terbentuknya banjar kematian, antara lain dikarenakan adanya kesadaran masyarakat, perubahan pola pikir, serta dukungan pemerintah desa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the principal's leadership style on teacher performance at MTs Hidayatul Athfal Rebile, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency. This study used a quantitative method with the Spearman Rank correlation analysis technique. The results of the analysis showed a significant value of 0.177> 0.05, so H0 was accepted and Ha was rejected. This means that there is no significant relationship or influence between the principal's leadership style and teacher performance. The level of strength of the relationship between variables X (leadership style) and Y (teacher performance) based on the correlation coefficient value of 0.368, which is between 0.20–0.399, so it is interpreted as a low relationship according to the guidelines for interpreting the correlation coefficient. From the calculation of the coefficient of determination (R²), the influence of the principal's leadership style on teacher performance is 13.5%, while 86.5% is influenced by other factors. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the principal's leadership style has a low influence on teacher performance at MTs Hidayatul Athfal Rebile.

Abstract

This study aimed to prove whether or not the use of Spotify can develop the listening comprehension of the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Palu. The research design used in this study was a quasi-experimental design, and used a quantitative approach to analyze the data. The population of this study was the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Palu. The researcher used purposive sampling and chose two groups: XD as the experimental group and XE as the control group, which each group consisted of 32 students. The instrument in collecting data was test (pre-test and post-test). The results of this study show that there is a significant difference in the increase in students' listening after being taught through the Spotify application. Data analysis shows that the tcounted (7,216) is higher than ttable (1,670) by applying a significance level of 0.05 with degrees of freedom (df) = 62. This means that the hypothesis is accepted. So, it can be said that Spotify can develop the students’ listening comprehension in learning English at SMA Negeri 2 Palu.

Abstract

This research aims to prove whether or not the implementation of the Freewriting technique is effective in improving students’ writing skills of the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu. This research used a quasi-experimental design. The Population of this research was class VIII students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu. The researcher used purposive sampling technique and chose two groups: VIII B and VIII D (experimental and control). The instrument used for collecting data was tests (pre-test and post-test). The results of the research show that there was a significance difference in the improve in students writing being taught through free writing technique. Data analysis shows that the t-counted value 10.380 is greater than the t-table value 1.683 by applying a significance level of 0.05 with degrees of freedom (df) = 45. It means that the t-counted is higher than the t-table. It can be interpreted that the hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the implementation of Freewriting techniques in improving students' writing skills is accepted. The implication of this finding to the teaching practice is that teachers need to apply the freewriting in the learning strategies to make teaching better.

Abstract

This study was invertigated what kinds of writing difficulties faced by eleven grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Bolano. The aims of this study to find out kinds of the writing difficultie in descriptive paragraph. This research used a descriptive qualitative design to exporing the data. Student’ assignment from the teacher as the instrument of the data. five types of difficulties writing in descriptive paragraph as the finding in this research The difficulty classfie are spelling, capitalization, grammatical, vocabulary, and punctuation. From the data, the resercher found that the most frequent difficult made by students in decriptive pragraph is spelling ( twelve errors). It indicates that the students lack understading of how write the correct word. In light of the limitations identified in this study, It is recommended for future researchers who attempt the same case of this research to develop deeply the difficulties in writing descriptive paragraph to enhance the available references. Additionally, employing alternative to data collection methods, such as interviews and questionnaires, would yield more comprehensive insights into the specific factors contributing to the observed of the difficult and errors of writing descriptive paragraph.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) untuk mengetahui tentang gambaran lingkungan sosial di dusun suka damai II desa monta baru kecamatan lambu kabupaten bima tahun 2022; (2) untuk mengetahui dampak lingkungan sosial terhadap kenakalan remaja di dusun suka damai II desa monta baru kecamatan lambu kabupaten bima tahun 2022; (3) untuk mengetahui penyebab terjadinya kenakalan remaja di dusun suka damai II desa monta baru kecamatan lambu kabupaten bima tahun 2022. Penelitian menggunakan penelitian lapangan dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) gambaran lingkungan sosial di dusun suka damai II, desa monta baru berdasarkan pengamatan yang peneliti lakukan, peneliti melihat kenakalan remaja di dusun suka damai disebabkan dua faktor yaitu faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. faktor internal yang dimaksud ialah faktor yang ada dalam ruang lingkup keluarga sedangkan faktor eksternal yaitu mencangkup ruang lingkup yang ada di luar keluarga atau lingkungan masyarakat. faktor internal yang menyebabkan terjadinya kenakalan remaja di dusun suka damai dari lingkungan teman bergaul yang menjadi faktor yang paling menonjol kebanyakan remaja yang melakukan tindakan menyimpang yang tidak sesuai dengan aturan dan norma; (2) dampak lingkungan sosial terhadap kenakalan remaja di dusun suka damai II, desa monta baru yaitu mencuri, berkelahi merokok berjudi dan mabuk-mabukkan; (3) adapun faktor penyebab terjadinya kenakalan remaja di dusun suka damai II sebagai berikut: a. faktor internal : (a) faktor usia; (b) krisis identitas; (3) kontrol diri yang lemah dan (b) faktor eksternal : (a) faktor keluarga; (b) faktor lingkungan masyarakat; (c) faktor teman sebaya/ bermain.

Abstract

The accessibility and popularity of English song in the teenagers facilitates them to be able to expand their English acquisition. Therefore, this research aims to validate whether English Song Based Teaching can boost vocabulary mastery of the students in two aspects namely meaning and use. This research utilized quantitative design in term of pre-experimental. Pre-test and post-test were conducted to gather the data. The research sample consisted of 15 students of class XI A of SMA Kristen Bala Keselamatan Palu. The finding demonstrates that the implementation of English song provides a significance impact on students' vocabulary mastery. The paired sample t-test supports this finding which a significance value of less than 0.05. It can be claimed that song-based teaching provides positive effects toward cognitive (vocabulary knowledge) and social aspect of language learning.

Abstract

Many approaches can be employed in vocabulary teaching and learning. One of these approaches is gamification. The goals of the study are to see if gamification approach through wordwall.nets’ utilization can increase students' vocabulary mastery and to pinpoint the word category that demonstrates the most progress. Using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test model, this study assesses if word wall media can deepen students' vocabulary proficiency, and also investigates which category of content words exhibits the most gains after the platform is implemented. The population in this study are eighth-grade students from MTs Negeri 2 Palu, sampled VIII D class, and the sample was chosen using purposive sampling technique. The data was analyzed using the paired sample t-test. Data analysis reveals a clear distinction between the students' pre-test and post-test outcomes. The average of students’ results on the pre-test rises from 36.04 to 52.2 on the post test. The paired sample t-test demonstrates a statistically significant increase in the pre-test and post-test scores (Sig (2-tailed) = 0.000). This supports the alternative research hypothesis (Ha). Indicating wordwall.net is a useful tool for enhancing the vocabulary skills of eighth-grade students at MTs Negeri 2 Palu. The findings also confirms adjective as the content word that has impressive progress after the platforms’ application.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini didasari pada beberapa hasil penelitian sebelumnya yang mengungkapkan bahwa pembelajaran bahasa Inggris terhadap peserta didik kurang menggembirakan karena para peserta didik menganggap bahwa pelajaran bahasa Inggris itu sulit dipahami dan dimengerti. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Tambunsaribu, G. et.al (2021) mengungkapkan bahwa faktor penyebab masalah internal peserta didik itu sendiri dimana 77 % respondent yang mengatakan bahasa Inggris itu dianggap membingungkan dan sulit dipelajari. Dua puluh dua percent (22 %) respondent mengatakan materi berbicara (speaking) sulit dipelajari. Selain dari pada temuan penelitian di atas, hasil pengamatan pengabdi sendiri pada beberapa mahasiswa pada program studi di lingkungan Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, menemukan bahwa mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan mempelajari dan memahami bahasa Inggris, mungkin disebabkan oleh belum berkesesuaian strategi atau teknik pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang mendorong mahasiswa untuk mengetahuinya dan merasa senang belajar. Oleh karena itu, melalui kesempatan ini, pengabdi melakukan pengabdian dalam bentuk pelatihan yaitu menawarkan suatu pendekatan atau teknik yang dapat membantu peserta didik atau mahasiswa mengurangi kebingungan dan kesulitan yang dirasakan selama ini. Pengabdi menawarkan pelatihan dengan menggunakan salah satu pembelajaran kooperatif dalam kelompok kecil, yaitu berpasang-pasangan dalam mengemukakan ide, pikiran masing-masing sesuai dengan apa yang dikehendaki oleh pasangannya. Hasil penelitian Susanti dan Linaris (2021) mengungkap bahwa siswa yang menggunakan metode diskusi kelompok kecil memiliki lebih banyak kesempatan untuk berkontribusi dalam diskusi kelas. Selanjutnya hasil penelitian mereka, juga mengungkap bahwa salah satu strategi atau teknik yang dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi adalah melalui diskusi kelompok kecil. Temuan-temuan penelitian dan hasil pengamatan tersebut, membuat para pengabdi akan memperaktikkan salah satu strategi atau teknik diskusi kelompok kecil, yaitu terdiri dari 2 (dua) orang saling bercakap-cakap (berbicara) sesuai dengan tema bahasa Inggris yang diberikan. Teknik pembelajaran dalam pelatihan ini adalah ‘Information Gap Activities (IGA)’ dimana masing-masing mahasiswa mempunyai peran. Oleh karena itu, tahapan pelaksanaan dalam pelatihan ini dimulai dari pengumpulan bahan pelatihan berupa topik-topik percakapan bahasa Inggris yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa, kemudian mahasiswa berlatih dengan memberikan kesempatan yang sama kepada masing-masing pasangan untuk memperaktikkannya sesuai peran masing-masing, dan pada akhir pelatihan, instruktur (pengabdi) memberikan penguatan tentang kegiatan yang telah dilakukan untuk menambah wawasan tentang apa yang telah diperaktikkan. Melalui pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan rasa ingin tahu mahasiswa, menambah pengetahuan bahasa Inggris, sehingga dengan sadar mempraktikkan sendiri bersama temannya melalui percakapan bahasa Inggris yang sehari-hari mahasiswa gunakan dan alami.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using YouTube videos as a learning medium to enhance English vocabulary mastery among second-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, involving one group that received treatment without a control group. The data were collected through a pre-test and post-test, each consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions focused on verbs and adjectives. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after the implementation of YouTube videos in the learning process. The average score increased from 62.3 in the pre-test to 78.9 in the post-test, with a gain of 16.6 points. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was used to analyze the data, as the same group was tested twice and the data did not meet normality assumptions. The test yielded a statistical value of 0.0 with a p-value of 0.007 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. Based on these findings, the null hypothesis was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis was accepted, confirming that the use of YouTube videos is effective in improving students’ English vocabulary mastery. This study suggests that English teachers consider integrating YouTube videos into classroom instruction to foster a more engaging and effective learning environment.
