Abstract

The SEIR (Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Recovered) mathematical model, represented as a system of nonlinear differential equations, has proven to be a powerful tool to describe the dynamics of the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The accuracy of the projection and understanding of this model relies heavily on the proper estimation of its parameters, such as transmission rate, incubation rate, natural birth rate, natural death rate, disease mortality rate, and recovery rate. This study focuses on the development and application of a new approach to estimate crucial parameters in the SEIR model by utilizing Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). PSO is a metaheuristic optimization algorithm inspired by the social behavior of flocks of birds or schools of fish. PSO was chosen for its outstanding ability to find a global minimum in a complex search space, as well as its efficiency in handling nonlinear optimization problems. The advantage of PSO lies in its effective memory capacity, which allows the storage of previous best values, both individually and globally, thus accelerating convergence to the optimal solution. Through a simulation program, this study successfully identified the optimal set of parameters for the SEIR model. These estimated parameters were then carefully evaluated by comparing the model simulation outputs with available COVID-19 epidemiological data, demonstrating the model's ability to accurately replicate pandemic trends. The results of this study are expected to make a significant contribution to modelling and understanding the spread of COVID-19.

Abstract

The point of this study is to look into how organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is affected by servant leadership, LMX (leader-member exchange), physical empowerment (PE), and perceived organizational support (POS). This study uses a population of employees of the Agriculture and Food Service Office of Yogyakarta City, with 62 research respondents. The sampling technique uses accidental sampling or is filled by respondents who are willing to be involved. Data were collected using a questionnaire and processed using multiple linear regression analysis and the SPSS 23 application. The results confirmed that POS and PE positively influenced OCB. Servant leadership was found to have a negative effect, while LMX had no significant effect on OCB. The implications of the research results lead to strengthening POS and PE to strengthen employee OCB.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of foreign capital inflows on economic growth in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data sourced from the World Bank and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) from 1986-2021 using multiple linear regression analysis tools. The independent variables consist of foreign direct investment, foreign portofoio investment and foreign aid, with the control variables being inflation and interest rates and the dependent variable being economic growth. The results found that foreign direct investment has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. This shows that foreign capital inflows have an important role in encouraging economic growth. However, foreign portfolio investment has a negative effect on economic growth. Therefore, the monetary authority needs to implement a foreign capital inflow policy to maintain stability and encourage economic growth in Indonesia through foreign capital inflows. As well as implementing an effective and efficient governance system to reduce the misuse of foreign capital inflows so as to encourage economic growth.

Abstract

The rapid evolution of cyberspace has transformed it into a strategic domain of international relations, raising complex legal challenges regarding state responsibility in preventing cross-border cyber attacks. This study explores the implementation of the due diligence principle in international law as a normative foundation for evaluating a state’s obligation to prevent harmful cyber activities originating from its territory. Utilizing a normative-legal approach, the research analyzes global legal instruments, state practices, and Indonesia’s position in relation to due diligence. Findings reveal a significant gap between the doctrinal recognition of due diligence and its operational application, especially in developing countries lacking institutional and regulatory capacity. The study proposes practical recommendations for integrating due diligence into national cybersecurity strategies while contributing to the broader development of binding international cyber norms. By focusing on Indonesia, the research aims to strengthen both national legal preparedness and its international legal standing in cyberspace governance.

Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide among all types of cancer. Early detection and accurate classification are essential to prevent disease progression and improve patient survival rates. One effective approach is the use of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems based on medical imaging, particularly CT scans, which provide high-resolution and non-invasive visualization of lung structures, including blood vessels, soft tissues, and lesions or nodules. This study proposes a VGG16 CNN-based multiclass classification method for lung cancer. Unlike previous studies that primarily focus on binary classification, this research addresses four distinct classes of lung nodule CT images to better reflect complex clinical needs. The modified VGG16 architecture incorporates additional layers, including Flatten, Dense, and Dropout, along with the Softmax activation function, effectively improving classification performance and reducing overfitting risk. An ablation experiment was also conducted by replacing ReLU with LeakyReLU to address the potential “dying ReLU” issue. However, the results indicated that LeakyReLU did not provide significant improvement over the standard ReLU. The proposed model achieved an accuracy of 90.72%, precision of 91.5%, sensitivity of 89.25%, specificity of 96.76%, F1-score of 90%, and a low loss value of 0.37. Furthermore, the modified VGG16-CNN outperformed other CNN architectures, including ResNet50, EfficientNetB1, MobileNetV2, and AlexNet, in multiclass lung cancer image classification. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective for diagnosing lung nodules from CT scans and has the potential to support medical professionals in making accurate and timely diagnoses.

Abstract

Sugarcane is vital to the national sugar industry and food security; however, its productivity is significantly affected by environmental factors, including temperature, light intensity, soil moisture, and pH. Fluctuations in these variables frequently lead to erratic yields and diminished sugar quality. Data obtained from IoT-based monitoring systems is often affected by noise, absent values, and outliers, complicating analysis. This research employs exploratory data analysis (EDA) on IoT-based sensor data to obtain comprehensive insights into environmental factors influencing sugarcane growth. The dataset contains 1,811 non-null entries from sensors that measure temperature, light, soil moisture, and pH. Data preparation encompassed cleansing, addressing missing values, and eliminating outliers. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to evaluate variable distributions and correlations. The findings indicated that eliminating outliers improved data consistency and showed that temperature and pH had near-normal distributions, whereas light and soil moisture were skewed. A correlation study revealed moderate associations between light and pH, while regression analysis confirmed a favorable relationship between light intensity and pH. This research emphasizes enhancing the dependability and interpretability of IoT-based monitoring data through EDA, providing significant insights for precision agriculture. Future research may concentrate on predictive modeling and real-time decision-support systems to enhance farming operations.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of condenser temperature variation on the performance of a rotary vacuum evaporator (RVE) in extracting Phyllanthus niruri solution. Three condenser conditions, 23 °C, 30 °C, and without cooling, were tested, each with five replications. Observed parameters included evaporation time, mass reduction rate, energy consumption, and flavonoid content, which were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Results showed that the 23 °C condenser achieved the highest mass reduction rate (3.78 g/min) and the lowest energy consumption (0.14 kWh). At 30 °C and without cooling, mass reduction rates decreased to 3.02 g/min and 2.24 g/min, while energy consumption rose to 0.19 kWh and 0.20 kWh. The 23 °C condenser also produced the highest flavonoid content (11.9 mg/mL), confirming optimal thermal efficiency. This work fills the research gap on the effect of condenser temperature on energy efficiency and extract quality in RVE systems and provides a basis for developing energy-efficient evaporators for small-scale herbal industries.
