Abstract

Art is a skill or medium that is done and made by humans to realize the imagination and creativity of the artist. Art has several fields such as dance, painting, sculpture, carving, and many more. Art includes many human activities in creating visual, audio, or performance works based on the imagination of the artist’s ideas and techniques of the art maker (artist). Art exhibition is an activity to exhibit or showcase works of art so that they can be appreciated by the general public with the aim of conveying creative ideas and ideas owned by the artist. This exhibition is carried out on the website artsteps.com. The website is a website that is useful for exhibiting works in the form of paintings that are famous in pandemic areas. Artsteps presents a 3D virtual exhibition platform where individuals and collectives can exhibit their work on the platform. This platform is useful in the implementation of exhibitions that are carried out to fulfill exhibition management courses, as well as useful for the general public or art education students in appreciating works of art virtually. In this research, the researcher conducted several qualitative approaches, namely interviews and observations. This research also has the aim of fostering the spirit of work to visitors to the virtual exhibition that has been implemented.

Abstract

Culture is a manifestation of thoughts, customs, and intellect that develop in society. One of the traditional dance arts of Indonesia with strong cultural roots is Reog Ponorogo. The Reog Ponorogo art is a cultural heritage that possesses deep historical and philosophical values. The purpose of this research is to examine the symbolism and beauty of Reog Ponorogo art through a multidisciplinary study. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a multidisciplinary approach. Multidisciplinarity is an approach in studying the phenomenon of Reog Ponorogo analyzed from the perspectives of anthropology, art, and semiotics related to the symbolism and beauty in that art. The data collection method uses observation sheets and interviews with the tourism office, Reog art activists, and Reog artists. Data analysis is carried out deductively, based on valid theoretical foundations, followed by a description of the data, and concluded with drawing conclusions. The research results show that in Reog Ponorogo art there are symbolism and beauty manifested in the form of movement, costumes, music, and storylines that have been preserved through generations. Every element contained in the Reog Ponorogo performance is very meaningful and becomes a hallmark of a culture that can be integrated into a multidisciplinary study from the perspectives of anthropology, art, and semiotics. The implications of this research impact the preservation of local culture that must be maintained and passed on to future generations.

Abstract

The use of visual materials is an uncommon practice in art history teaching, including in Eastern Art History courses. Visual materials are believed to help students understand complex cultural and strengthen understanding of abstract concept. This study aims to analyze the cognitive visual learning theory that underlies the teaching practice of the course, especially in terms of the use of visual aids and lecture methods, and to examine its compatibility with visual and cognitive learning theories. This research used a participatory approach with descriptive qualitative methods. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews with students, and analysis of learning documents. Analysis was conducted using thematic matrix technique to identify patterns and themes from the data obtained. The results showed that visual and cognitive learning theories were used in learning. Visual aids such as pictures, slides, and videos help students understand the material more deeply and strengthen memory. Meanwhile, lectures provide a cognitive structure that supports information processing. Students stated that the combination of visual and verbal is very important in improving their understanding of Eastern Art History materials. This reseach confirm the importance of aligning practice and learning theory.

Abstract

Komunitas musik POSS adalah salah satu komunitas musik di Surabaya yang masih eksis dari dulu hingga saat ini. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskribtif kualitatif. Kurikulum yang ada pada komunitas ini menarik untuk diteliti. Keunggulan komunitas ini adalah pembelajarannya yang berbasis di lapangan dan interaksi langsung dengan penonton serta menekankan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisa kurikulum pembelajaran violin yang ada pada komunitas Musik POSS. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, pembelajaran violin dalam komunitas ini menggunakan kurikulum yang fleksibel dan terbuka untuk siapa saja yang mau berkontribusi, dengan catatan pedoman atau patokan adalah teori Suzuki violin book. Pengumpulan data menggunakan beberapa teknik mulai dari observasi, wawancara, serta dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pengumpulan data, kemudian dirangkum, kemudian data disajikan.

Abstract

This research aims to dissect the educational values ​​contained in the four processions in the Keboan traditional ritual for the younger generation and the wider community. This research uses descriptive qualitative research using a case study approach, namely with the aim of explaining and providing an overview of events in the field. The research results reveal that each procession has a different meaning and has different educational values ​​even though the four Keboan traditional ritual processes have the same goal. The four processions in the Keboan traditional ritual of Aliyan village contain religious education values, social education values ​​and cultural education values. With several educational values ​​contained in each procession, it can be used as a lesson for the wider community, especially for the younger generation who will inherit these customs and traditions so that the Keboan traditional ritual in Aliyan village continues to exist and is preserved without reducing its sacredness.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of implementing a deeplearning-based approach in cultural arts education, specifically in batik-making lessons at the senior high school level. The problem addressed in this research is the lack of student engagement and interest in conventional teaching methods, which often results in lower comprehension and artwork quality. The aim of this study is to compare the understanding, artwork quality, and enthusiasm between students in the experimental group, who received practice-first instruction followed by theoretical content, and those in the control group, who followed a traditional learning approach. A quantitative method was applied by utilizing pre-test and post-test questionnaires, interviews, and direct observation in the classroom. Knowledge was measured through multiple-choice questions, feelings were gauged via interviews, and student actions were observed during the learning process. Results show a significant improvement in the experimental class, with higher post-test scores and more positive attitudes toward batik-making. In contrast, the control class exhibited lower enthusiasm and engagement, which subsequently affected their final grades. The findings suggest that deeplearning-based methods can provide a more impactful and memorable learning experience, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural heritage. Further research is recommended to explore the application of this method in other cultural arts disciplines and assess its long-term effectiveness in developing students' cognitive and creative skills.

Abstract

Sanggar Baladewa Surabaya merupakan sebuah organisasi seni pertunjukan yang terpusat pada pembelajaran pedalangan dan karawitan. Peneliti melihat sanggar tersebut merupakan tempat yang mempunyai kontribusi besar dalam usaha mengembangkan kesenian wayang kulit dan karawitan dan mempunyai siswa yang mayoritas pelajar sekolah dasar sampai sekolah menegah lanjutan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui, menganalisa dan mendeskripsikan manajemen organisasi seni pertunjukan pada sanggar baladewa Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sistem manajemen meliputi (1) Perencanaan yang dilakukan oleh sanggar Baladewa dikelompokkan menjadi perencanaan program maupun keuangan. (2) Pengorganisasian di dalam sanggar Baladewa meliputi struktur organisasi dan proses pengorganisasian. Struktur organisasi sanggar Baladewa terdiri atas Ketua, Sekretaris dan Bendahara. Sedangkan proses pengorganisasian berjalan bersifat terbuka dan mengedepankan komunikasi dengan musyawarah. (3) Pelaksanaan program dikategorikan menjadi program jangka panjang, jangka pendek dan insidentil. Pelaksanaan Program jangka panjang yang terpusat pada lomba/festival dilaksanakan pada H-3 bulan sebelum tanggal pelaksanaan. Pelaksanaan program jangka pendek yaitu melakukan latihan rutin 2 (dua) kali dalam seminggu. Sedangkan pelaksanaan program insidentil pelaksanaannya tergantung pada jadwal berlangsungnya acara. (4) Pengawasan yang dijalankan meliputi pengawasan program dan keuangan. (5) Evaluasi dalam sanggar Baladewa ada dua cabang yaitu evaluasi kinerja dan evaluasi hasil/capaian.
