Abstract

Systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings of 140 mmHg and 90 mmHg, respectively, are indicative of hypertension, a condition that can lead to major consequences like heart attacks, strokes, and early death. The prevalence of hypertension increased significantly in 2018, reaching 1.3 billion individuals worldwide. This study aims to determine the relationship between smoking habits, sleep quality, and dietary patterns with the incidence of hypertension in the Working Area of Teruwai Community Health Center, Pujut Subdistrict, Central Lombok Regency, during the period of August 20–31, 2024. The study utilized a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 108 respondents, selected through simple random sampling. The statistical test employed was the chi-square test. The results found 76 respondents (70.4%) had high blood pressure. Hypertensive behavior and smoking significantly correlated (p-value = 0,000). Likewise, there is a significant relationship between food patterns and hypertension (p-value = 0,000) and sleep quality and hypertension (p-value = 0,000). The conclusion is that risk factors for hypertension include smoking habits, sleep quality, and dietary patterns, all of which significantly influence the incidence of hypertension.

Abstract

One of the most common diseases in the world, including in Indonesia, is diabetes mellitus, which can lead to complications such diabetic ulcers, which can raise the risk of death and amputation. It is believed that hypertension, as a risk factor in and of itself, contributes to the development of diabetic ulcers by causing both macrovascular and microvascular damage. This study aims to analyze the association between hypertension and diabetic ulcers in diabetes mellitus patients at the Mataram City Regional General Hospital (RSUD). This research is an analytical observational study with a case-control design. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. A total of 105 samples were selected with a 1:2 ratio between the case and control groups who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test. There is a significant association between hypertension and diabetic ulcers (p-value = 0.028; OR = 2.771; 95% CI = 1.198–6.411). Subjects with uncontrolled hypertension were 3 times more at risk of developing diabetic ulcers.

Abstract

One of the most prevalent illnesses in the world is gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. In addition to sleep patterns, eating habits, such as the amount and timing of meals, as well as the acidity of food, can also lead to GERD. The purpose of this study is to investigate how smoking, coffee intake, and age relate to the prevalence of GERD in the province of NTB, particularly in West Lombok Regency. This study used a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional study design. The Chi Square test was employed for statistical analysis after univariate and bivariate data analysis. The results showed that 52% of respondents were women and 48% of respondents were men. 67% of respondents claimed not to have GERD, while 33% reported having it. There is a substantial correlation between age, coffee consumption, and smoking and the occurrence of GERD at Patut Patuh Patju Hospital in West Lombok. The Patut Patuh Patju Hospital in West Lombok has concluded that smoking, coffee use, and age are associated with GERD.

Abstract

Kasus Penyakit Ginjal Tahap Akhir (PGTA) selalu mengalami peningkatan tiap tahun.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a major health problem in women whose incidence continues to increase, including in Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) Province, so that scientific evidence-based prevention efforts are needed. The novelty of this study lies in the simultaneous analysis of age, breastfeeding history, and hormonal contraceptive use as independent risk factors for breast cancer in the local NTB population using a multivariate approach. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age, breastfeeding history, and hormonal contraceptive use with breast cancer incidence at the NTB Provincial Hospital. The research used an observational analytical design with a retrospective case-control approach, involving 110 respondents (55 cases and 55 controls) and medical record data from 2024, with univariate analysis, a bivariate Chi-Square test, and multivariate logistic regression. The results showed that age 40 years and hormonal contraceptive use were associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, while breastfeeding history was protective, and all three variables remained significant in the multivariate analysis, with hormonal contraceptive use as the most dominant factor. The conclusion of this study states that age, breastfeeding history, and hormonal contraceptive use are independent risk factors for breast cancer. Therefore, strengthening health education, early detection in at-risk groups, and appropriate contraceptive counseling are needed as a breast cancer prevention effort in NTB Province.
