Abstract

Abstract

Smartphone is a communication tool that has the potential to be contaminated with microorganisms that can be transmitted through direct contact, especially on the skin. Microbes can survive on the surface of mobile phones and serve as potential transporters of microorganisms. The use of hand sanitizer is useful for inhibiting and even killing microorganisms. Thus, the study focused on isolating bacteria from smartphone screens, especially Stappylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria and looking at the effectiveness of hand sanitizers in inhibiting bacterial growth. This study aims to isolate Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria on smartphone screens and test the ability to use hand sanitizers against bacteria attached to smartphone screens. This type of research uses the bacterial isolation method. The target population is the academic community of the Polytechnic of St Paul Surakarta totaling 30 cell phones. The object of the research was the smartphone screen swab of the academic community for the presence of Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria and hand sanitizer as an inhibitor of bacterial growth. In 30 smartphone samples, Stapylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp were found. This study uses the chard chart method. Hypothesis H0 did not find Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria while Ha was found Staphylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria on the smartphone screen. In this study, the smartphone screen contained Stapylococcus sp and Pseudomonas sp bacteria, the use of hand sanitizer was effective in inhibiting bacterial growth.

Abstract

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a medical condition that affects blood pressure and can lead to complications such as stroke and heart disease. Hypertension is suffered by many people living in coastal areas due to an unhealthy lifestyle and consuming salty fish. To reduce the number of people with hypertension in coastal areas, community service activities related to hypertension management were carried out. The methods used in the community service were problem identification with the Delbecq (non-scoring method) method, data collection through interviews with questionnaires and observations of 70 participants, problem intervention through poster counseling and tension checks, data analysis using univariate analysis. The results of the community service were dominated by 55 women (79%) and middle-aged (45-59 years) 46 people (66%). The results of the questionnaire search showed that as many as 60 people (86%) respondents had heavy physical activity, 39 people (56%) respondents had a good level of knowledge and hypertension management, 42 people (60%) were known to often consume salted fish and 48 people (69%) were found to have hypertension. The high rate of hypertension sufferers in the coastal area of Kampung Melayu is due to the lack of counseling that focuses on dietary management and increasing public awareness about the risk of hypertension related to the consumption of high-sodium foods.

Abstract

Hemoglobin is the main element of red blood cells that functions as a conjugated protein to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide. Hemoglobin levels below normal limits can cause anemia. Indonesia is one of the countries with a fairly high rate of anemia. Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent girls, mainly caused by iron deficiency which is triggered by menstruation and high nutritional needs. Currently, a non-pharmacological approach is an alternative to increase hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls, one of which is by consuming beetroot juice. Indonesia is one of the countries with relatively high anemia rates. Beetroot is rich in iron, folate, and vitamin C which can increase hemoglobin levels in the blood. The type of research used was a quasi-experimental study with a two-group pretest and posttest design, namely providing intervention by giving beetroot juice for 7 days in the morning to students in the eastern region who live in Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The results of this study were explained using SPSS with a Paired sample t-test with a p value <0.05 and obtained H0 = 0.024 and H7 = 0.001. This means that the sig value <0.05 indicates an effect on hemoglobin levels after the intervention. Before the intervention, the average was 11.1 gr/dl and after the intervention, the average was 12.8 gr/dl. These results indicate that consumption of beetroot juice can significantly increase hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls with anemia.
