Abstract

Purple sweet potato has the high anthocyanin content. The anthocyanin content in purple sweet potato skin is higher than the anthocyanin in the tubers, namely 52.84-729.74 mg/100g while the tubers are 110.51 mg/100g. Natural dyes that have the potential to be extracted include anthocyanins. This research aimed to test anthocyanin dyes in purple sweet potato peel extract as the substitute for crystal violet in gram staining. The type of research used Quasi Experiments. This research was conducted in the Microbiology Laboratory of the Hasanuddin University Medical Faculty. In this research, extraction was carried out by using the solvent of Ethanol : Acetic Acid : Water (25: 1: 5). Furthermore, gram staining was carried out by using purple sweet potato peel extract using a concentration of 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100% and crystal violet as positive control. The results of this research indicate that the staining used purple sweet potato peel extract concentrations of 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% in gram-positive Staphylococcus bacteria isolates showed poor bacterial staining results because the bacteria were not purple when compared to crystal violet dye. Where as at the concentration of 100% it showed good bacterial staining results because the bacteria was purple. Meanwhile, gram-negative e.coli bacteria isolates at the concentration of 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100% showed good bacterial staining results because the bacteria were red. Suggestions for further research to do maceration longer.

Abstract

Management of fish bones asa a source of calcium must be converted into a smaller form so that it is easily absorbed by the body into nanocalsium. In this case, fish bones are seen as giving a lot of advantages because fish are easier to get. The purpose of this study was to utilize catfish(Pangasius Sp) bones as the main ingredient for the manufacture of nanocalcium and extract fish bone lead using the Ultrasonic-Assisted Solvent Extraction method. This research method is characterization . of cat fish bone waste making nano particles using the Ultrasonic-Assisted solvent method, and characterized SEM-EDX. The result showed that the characteristic of catfish bone powder waste were 10,35 % water content, 44,29 % ash content, 1,849 fiber content, 11,47 % fat content, 0,27% protein content, and carbohydrates 33,62%, and SEM result for the morphological size 5.000x magnification, the particle diameter 3111,08 nm and EDX was 6 % purity of calcium (Ca).

Abstract

COVID-19 disebabkan oleh novel coronavirus yaitu Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) yang menyerang sistem pernafasan. Angka kejadian COVID-19 yang masih meningkat disebakan oleh masih banyak masyarakat yang tidak menerapkan   protokol kesehatan. Edukasi terkait vaksin yang dapat digunakan untuk mencegah penyebaran juga masih rendah dan beredarnya sejumlah informasi yang tidak jelas membuat sebagian orang menjadi takut menerima vaksin. Hal ini mendorong pelaksanaan Pengabdian Masyarakat untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan seputar COVID-19 dan Peranan Vaksin sebagai salah satu upaya pencegahan penyebaran COVID-19. Metode pelaksanaan  kegiatan dilakukan secara online menggunakan link zoom meeting dan pengisian kuisioner oleh responden. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa edukasi mengenai COVID-19 dan peranan vaksin meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa siswi SMA Insan Cendekia Syech Yusuf Gowa. Para peserta aktif dan antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan.

Abstract

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) or also known as cassava has a high carbohydrate content and has become the third staple food source after maize and rice. Cassava also contains linamarin and lotaustralin poisons which belong to the cyanogenic glycoside group. Cyanogenetic glycosides are compounds found in plant foodstuffs and are potentially very toxic because they decompose and release hydrogen cyanide. This study aims to determine the cyanide acid content in cassava before being soaked in lime solution and to determine the cyanide acid content in cassava after soaking in lime solution with concentrations of 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, 1% and 2% for 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours. Using argentometry method. Soaking with lime concentrations of 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, 1% and 2% does not affect the cyanide acid levels, which affects the cyanide levels, namely the long soaking time which is 2 hours can reduce the cyanide acid levels. up to 50%, soaking time of 4 hours reduced 62.5% and soaking time of 6 hours reduced up to 75% the level of cyanide acid contained in cassava. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the soaking time greatly affects the decrease in cyanide levels found in cassava. Suggestions should try measurements using instrumentation methods.

Abstract

Efforts prevent spread Covid-19 can be carried out with strict health protocols and carried out by all levels society. Data from Wajo Health Center showed many as 202 cases Covid-19 and there are 2 cases death in 2021. Increase in cases Covid-19 is caused not complying with health protocols recommended by government. Purpose study was to find out description behavior in form washing hands, wearing masks, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and reducing mobility in implementation health protocols effort to prevent Covid-19. Type of research used is descriptive observational. Research population is entire community totaling 18,532, sample amounting to 391 and side method used is cluster sampling. Research data collection consisted primary data obtained by questionnaire and secondary data obtained from report notes Wajo Health Center. Data processing is done computerized using SPSS program. Analysis used is univariate analysis, namely to see appearance frequency distribution each variable studied. Results univariate analysis showed that 59.6% had poor hand washing behavior, 59.6% had less mask wearing behavior, 55.8% had less social distancing behavior, 55.5% avoided crowd behavior who are lacking, and 57.5% have behavior of reducing mobility that is lacking in implementation health protocols as an effort to prevent Covid-19. Conclusion shows that there is still a lack community behavior in implementing health protocols effort to prevent Covid-19 in work area Wajo Health Center, Baubau City. Suggestions for need to increase awareness, willingness and behavior from the community to implement health protocols effort to prevent Covid-19.

Abstract

One of the prevention efforts in handling complications of the disease is to do a blood type examination. Blood type is an important thing in donating, because someone who gets a blood transfusion must match the blood group of the donor. Blood transfusion of incompatible groups can cause several immunological transfusion reactions and clinical aspects such as incompatibility of the ABO blood group system. Knowing blood type is an important part for every human being. Many of us don't know what type of blood type we have.. This case becomes very crucial when the individual experiences an accident, such as an accident that involves a lot of blood coming out. The action of handling the patient becomes late, because this individual does not yet know the type of blood group he has. Knowing your blood type helps the body stay healthy, plan for the future and prevent complications. Based on the survey and interviews of the service team with the caretaker of the cottage, there are still some residents in the cottage who do not know their blood type. so that the service team carries out community service activities in the form of blood type checks. The purpose of this community service is to find out the blood type of the residents of the Tahfidz Al Qur'an As-Syuhada Fii Sabilillah cottage, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City. There are three stages carried out in this activity, namely the planning stage, the preparation stage and the implementation stage. At the implementation stage, the blood group examination is carried out using the slide method which is a simple, fast and easy method. This blood type examination was attended by 46 residents of the cottage, male and female and aged 1-50 years. The results obtained from the blood group examination are that there are residents of the cottage who have blood type A as much as 23.90%, who have blood type B as much as 39.10% and who have blood type AB as much as 2.20% and who have blood type O as much as 34 ,80 %

Abstract

Water is a limited natural resource whose existence is needed for the survival of all living things. Drinking water and sanitation water are clean water whose quality meets health requirements and can be drunk directly, the health requirements referred to are microbiological, physical chemistry and radio active requirements. This Community Service was carried out at UPT SPF SDN IKIP Makassar Complex which aims to find out how the quality of drinking water and sanitation water in the school environment needs to be tested which includes parameters of pH, temperature, color, turbidity, odor and taste so that it can be said that water that is clean proper to use. Based on the inspection examination of drinking water sourced from PDAM water and sanitation water involving physical parameters, namely pH, temperature, color, turbidity, odor and taste, in a condition suitable for use as drinking water and sanitation water

Abstract

School children do not understand how to choose healthy snacks so that it is bad for their own health. Children buy snacks according to their preferences without thinking about the ingredients contained in them. School children usually have more activities outside the home and often forget mealtimes so they buy snacks at school to block their stomachs, synthetic dyes which have advantages such as being more stable, resistant to various environmental conditions, the coloring power is stronger and has a wider color range and is easy to use. The first stage: conduct questions and answers to students about whether they know about coloring substances in food Second stage: educate students UPT SPF SDN KOMPLEKS IKIP about coloring substances in food The second stage: measuring students' knowledge of UPT SPF SDN IKIP KOMPLEKS students about coloring substances in food after counseling. There has been an increase in students' knowledge of coloring substances in food and beverages with the posttest results. Awareness of chemicals, especially dyes in food and beverages still needs to be increased. This counseling activity needs to be accompanied by training to identify dyes so that students can increase their knowledge of dyes

Abstract

Water pollution is the entry or inclusion of living things, substances, energy and or other components into the water by human activities, so that the quality of the water drops to a level that causes the water to not function according to its designation. The Waiting Pampang Reservoir is open and accessible to the general public including fishing activities. The consequences if the water in this reservoir contains heavy metals will also accumulate in marine biota (fish). If these fish are consumed, it will have an impact on human health. This study aims to determine heavy metals in the waiting reservoir water in the city of Makassar. Analysis of the metal content of Hg,Pb,Cu and Cd in the sample using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) calibration curve method. Before the samples were analyzed in SSA, sample preparation was carried out using the wet destruction method. The results of the analysis with SSA showed that the heavy metals in the sample had exceeded the threshold set by the 2011 Minister of Health, namely mercury (Hg) of 0.015, lead (Pb) of 0.08, copper (Cu) of 0.05 and cadmium (Cd) of 0. ,05. In conclusion, the water sample of the Waiting Pampang Reservoir has exceeded the maximum limit for heavy metal contamination in water that has been set by the government. It is recommended to add more sampling points to reservoir water.

Abstract

Tanaman kayu jawa (Lannea coromandelica) telah dimanfaatkan sebagai obat tradisional, yaitu untuk menyembuhkan luka dalam dan luka luar serta pengobatan muntah darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri  dari ekstrak etanol kulit batang kayu jawa terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia. Ekstrak kulit batang kayu jawa diperoleh dari hasil maserasi meggunakan pelarut etanol dan menghasilkan ekstrak kental dengan rendemen 0,82 %. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode paper disk. Penelitian ini menggunakan empat perlakuan, yaitu sampel 2%, etanol 96%, kontrol positif (kloromfenikol) 0,1 % dan kontrol negatif (aquades). Hasil pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol kulit batang kayu jawa pada konsentrasi 2% memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli dengan daya hambat yaitu 1,0 mm yang digolongkan sebagai antibakteri dengan daya hambat lemah. Javanese wood (Lannea coromandelica) can be used as traditional medicine, namely to heal internal and external wounds and treat vomiting of blood. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of the Javanese bark against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Javanese bark extract was obtained from maceration using ethanol as a solvent and produced a thick extract in 0,82 % yield. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out using the paper disk method. This study used four treatments, namely sample 2%, ethanol 96%, positive control (chloromphenicol) 0,1 % and negative control (aquades). The antibacterial test result showed that the the extract of Javanese wood bark at concentration of 2% has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli with an inhibitory power of 1.0 mm which was classified as an antibacterial with a weak inhibitory power.
