Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming healthcare by enhancing patient education and supporting decision making autonomy. While AI application in various healthcare contexts is well documented, its role in empowering decision making autonomy in fertility treatments remains underexplored. This study introduces a novel perspective by evaluating the impact of AI driven education on patient understanding and autonomy in fertility treatments, incorporating the moderating roles of trust in AI and prior patient experience. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS SEM), data was analyzed from individuals undergoing or considering fertility treatments. The results show that AI driven education significantly enhances both understanding and autonomy, with understanding acting as a critical mediator. Notably, trust in AI and prior experience primarily influence understanding but do not directly affect autonomy, highlighting the complex relationship between knowledge and decision making independence. This research emphasizes the need to tailor AI tools to address both informational and psychological needs of patients, marking a novel contribution to AI driven patient centered care, especially in sensitive medical contexts. The studys findings underscore the importance of expanding the sample to diverse populations and examining psychological and cultural variables, areas that have been minimally addressed in previous AI healthcare research.

Abstract

Socio-cultural concerns often restrict women's sexual rights and well-being living with HIV (WLHIV) in developing countries. These convergent parallel mixed methods study combined quantitative and qualitative approaches to explore factors influencing WLHIV sexual quality of life in Banten Province, Indonesia. A 2017 cross-sectional survey of 207 reproductive-aged WLHIV was analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression statistics. Furthermore, in-depth interviews with a sub-sample of survey participants (n = 30) were thematically analyzed. Most of the women (60%) involved reported loss of sexual pleasure and depressed sexual life. Meanwhile, 48% affirmed low sexual quality of life which was associated with unemployment (aOR = 2.90, and 95%CI =1.51–5.58), limited sexual activities (aOR = 2.89, and 95%CI = 1.20–6.93), living with extended family (aOR = 2.68, and 95%CI = 1.27–5.65), and experiencing intimate partner violence (aOR = 2.28, and 95%CI = 1.03–5.03). The respondents described unsatisfactory sexual life in a belief that having sex is a wife's duty and choosing not to talk about sexual issues or refuse sexual invitation in fear of triggering intimate partner violence. Inter-related personal, social, cultural, and religious factors affected the sufferers’ sexual life.

Abstract

Students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) often experience overlapping medical and cognitive challenges that affect their academic participation and social interaction. Frequent absences, delayed progress, and limited communication skills highlight the urgent need for an integrated support system. Despite advancements in educational technology, most digital learning tools remain limited in addressing the dual educational and healthcare needs of ID/DD students. This study aims to identify existing gaps and propose a systematic framework for integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education and health systems to enhance personalized learning and well-being for students with ID/DD. The study emphasizes the importance of combining health data with instructional design to achieve inclusive and adaptive learning experiences. A systematic literature review was conducted across multiple databases, including IEEE Xplore, ERIC, ACM Digital Library, and NFER, covering studies published between 2020 and 2025. The review process followed the PRISMA guideline and applied strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the validity of selected studies. The findings reveal that AI has been used to support ID/DD learners in various contexts, but most implementations remain fragmented, lacking integration between educational and medical data. The proposed AI-based framework connects these domains through data-driven decision-making, adaptive feedback, and intelligent reasoning mechanisms. This study contributes to the development of a holistic AI-driven model that supports individualized learning and health monitoring in line with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). Strengthening collaboration among educators, caregivers, and healthcare professionals can create more inclusive and effective educational ecosystems for ID/DD students.
