Abstract

Background:Hypertension is a health problem that is still penetrating in various parts of the world, even more widespread along with the times. The disease is characterized by an increase in blood pressure reaching 140/90 mmHg or more. One way to reduce high blood pressure is to use non-pharmacological treatment methods, one of which is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. This approach focuses attention on the muscles by identifying tense ones and then reducing those tensions to achieve a sense of relaxation. Thus, blood pressure and heart rate can decrease significantly Objective: to assess how effective progressive muscle relaxation therapy is in reducing blood pressure in individuals suffering from hypertension with a literature study approach. Method: This research utilizes the literature study method using secondary data sources, namely articles obtained from three trusted databases, namely Google Scholar, Researchgate, and Onesearch. The criteria used as a reference for selecting articles to be reviewed include publication time in the last 5-10 years, using Indonesian or English, being original, available in full text form, and indexed. From the selection process, a total of 10 articles were considered worthy of review, consisting of five articles in Indonesian and five articles in English. This research focused on a comprehensive literature review of both languages to gain an in-depth understanding of the research topic. Thus, it is expected that this research can make a significant contribution to the understanding and development of science and technology in a broader context. By using a literature study approach and a rigorous selection process for the articles reviewed, it is hoped that this research can provide a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the issues discussed in this study. Results: In ten articles that have been compiled, it is explained that the use of progressive muscle relaxation therapy has the potential to reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in individuals suffering from hypertension. Conclusion: progressive muscle relaxation therapy is effective in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients, based on the arguments outlined earlier.

Abstract

This study explores lecturers' perspectives on Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in an Islamic university in South Sulawesi, focusing on its effectiveness in enhancing student competencies, skill development, and knowledge retention. Using a survey method, data were collected from 20 lecturers representing various disciplines, including English Literature, Indonesian Literature, Arabic Literature, Communication Studies, and Language Education programs. The results show a strong consensus (90%) in favor of TBLT, particularly regarding its role in fostering linguistic competence, cognitive skills, and student engagement. Lecturers overwhelmingly agree that task repetition and assignments before, during, and after class are effective in promoting long-term memory retention and real-world application of language skills. However, some nuanced perspectives on task timing and classification indicate areas for further research and refinement in TBLT implementation. Overall, this study contributes to the growing body of literature on task-based approaches in higher education, offering practical insights into its pedagogical benefits and challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the scattergories game significantly enhances Makassar junior high school students' vocabulary mastery. The researcher employed a pre-experimental design with a pre- and post-test for a single group. The experimental design included a group that was given a pretest, then exposed to a treatment, and then given a posttest. This study's participants were eighth-grade students at SMPN 27 Makassar. The class that comprised the study's sample was determined using cluster random sampling. The results indicated that the average score on the post-test was higher than the average score on the pretest; the average score on the post-test was (84.27), while the average score on the pretest was (32.20). The test score for the hypothesis is less than 0.05, specifically 0.00 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is refuted, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that implementing the scattergories game to the eighth-grade students at SMPN 27 Makassar substantially improved their English vocabulary knowledge.

Abstract

Developments in education highlight the need for conventional learning approaches to evolve in response to technological advances in digitally integrated learning, including hybrid or digital learning approaches. Digital-based teaching in higher education has begun to be implemented comprehensively, although it is still full of challenges. This study aims to determine students’ learning interest in digital-based instruction in the universities of East Kalimantan. It employed a purposive sample of 91 EFL students in their second and fourth semesters. This study reveals the potential for implementing digital-based instruction to support the increased interest in learning among EFL students in universities. It demonstrates the significance of digital learning as an adaptation of technological educational advances. However, implementing digital instruction in higher education is not effortless for students as end-users. Numerous students are resistant and unable to adjust to the shift towards online and digital learning. They tend not to participate actively in class and even ignore the material and assignments given. Therefore, these findings contribute to advancing future research on digital learning. They will also strengthen developments in digital learning based on user requirements and the learning context. In light of these findings, stakeholders in higher education need to make efforts to adjust the digital-based instruction applied to students’ abilities and needs, as well as the context of the lectures being held. Further research is required to incorporate a broader range of substantial participants and diverse data in order to attain a more comprehensive understanding of students’ learning interest in digital learning.
