Abstract

This study investigates the integration of Christian values through Scout activities and its influence on students’ emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the research involved junior high school students who actively participated in Scout programs embedded with Christian teachings. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires measuring the levels of value integration, emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills), and prosocial behavior (helping, caring, and cooperation). The findings reveal that the integration of Christian values in Scout activities positively correlates with students’ emotional intelligence. Students who consistently engaged in value-based Scout practices demonstrated higher scores in emotional regulation and empathy. Furthermore, emotional intelligence was identified as a mediating factor that strengthened the relationship between value integration and prosocial behavior. Students with higher emotional intelligence exhibited greater willingness to help peers, cooperate in group tasks, and participate in community services. These results highlight the importance of integrating spiritual-ethical values in extracurricular activities as a holistic approach to character formation. Scout activities not only enhance technical and leadership skills but also foster emotional growth and moral motivation, enabling students to act prosocially as an expression of faith and service to others.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Christian Religious Education (PAK) teachers as character architects through their personal competence and its impact on students’ learning success. The research employed a constructive qualitative approach, collecting data through classroom observations, field notes, and document analysis, including lesson plans, students’ development records, and academic results. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, comprising data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Findings reveal that PAK teachers with well-developed personal competence, characterized by emotional stability, integrity, exemplary conduct, and the ability to build positive relationships, were able to create a safe and inclusive learning climate. Such conditions fostered students’ motivation, discipline, and active engagement in learning. Moreover, PAK teachers who served as role models played a vital role in shaping students’ Christian character, evident in their attitudes of respect, responsibility, and honesty. These positive influences also contributed to improved academic achievement. The study highlights that the success of Christian Religious Education depends not only on teachers’ mastery of subject content and pedagogical strategies but also on their personal character. Therefore, strengthening teachers’ personal competence should be an integral component of professional development in Christian education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the forms of adversity, adaptation strategies, and the role of teachers in Christian Religious Education for elementary school students during the COVID-19 pandemic. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that students encountered various types of adversity, including limited access to learning devices and internet connectivity, difficulties adapting to online learning, psychosocial challenges, and the loss of spiritual experiences typically gained in the classroom. Nevertheless, some students demonstrated resilience supported by family involvement, personal creativity, and teachers who acted as both academic facilitators and spiritual mentors. The study highlights the crucial role of Christian Education teachers in designing creative, interactive, and contextual learning while providing emotional and spiritual support to students. It recommends strengthening teachers’ capacity in digital literacy, online pedagogy, and psychosocial support to ensure that Christian Religious Education remains meaningful and relevant during crisis situations.

Abstract

Children's interest in Sunday School worship is a spirit that must be internalized in all things. Many factors cause children to want to come to worship. Starting from a good room, lots of props, and teacher creativity. One influence that needs special attention is the teacher's way of telling stories in teaching. This article analyzes the influence of Sunday School teachers' creativity in telling stories on children's interest in worshiping at Indonesian Bethel Children aged 8-12 years. The research method used is quantitative, with a data collection model through surveys. The hypothesis is that there is an influence between the creativity of Sunday School teachers in telling stories on the interest of ABI children aged 8-12 years at GBI Petamburan. So from the hypothesis testing analysis, it was concluded that there was a low influence between the creativity of Sunday school teachers in telling stories on the interest of ABI children aged 8-12 years in worship at GBI Petamburan with a strong relationship between this variable of 0.251. Moreover, the contribution to children's interest in worship is only 6.3%, and the remaining 93.7% is determined by other variables that were not used as variables in this research. Thus, the influence of Sunday school teachers' creativity in telling stories on the interest of ABI children aged 8-12 years at GBI Petamburan is low.
